Cant Hooks Our Cant Hooks are made with hard maple handles and high-carbon steel hooks which are heat treated for strength and durability. The hook stop is designed to prevent the hook from falling back and damaging the handle. In addition to our standard line of Cant Hooks we offer models that handle smaller size poles.
Any hook can be placed on any handle. Our # 5 and # 7 Hooks are used to handle smaller size poles. Sockets, Clasps, Clips and Toe Rings are made of high-grade Malleable Iron which is light in weight yet strong.
Swivel Point Cant Hooks are designed to not scar the pole. The hook teeth are actually two plates which are securely held by a bolt. Because of this bolt, the toothed plates can swivel. This means if one point cannot penetrate the pole because of a knot or some other defect, the plate will swivel and allow the other point to penetrate. The teeth on the toe ring encourage a tight grip on a wide range of pole diameters.
Cant Hooks are not to be used as wedge or pry bars. Always remember, wooden handles may break - only on person per cant hook and use with caution. Flexing handles in a perpendicular direction of the grain may cause handle fracture and result in personal injury.

Digging Bars Oshkosh Digging Bars are made of high-carbon steel. This steel is stiff to resist bending deformation. Hardness is controlled to maintain sharpness of edges and point through many hours of use, yet not so hard as to promote chipping in ordinary service.
Round Crow and Digging Bars (1060 series) have a 2" chisel on one end and are pointed on the other end.
Round Tamping and Digging Bars (1070 series) have a 2" chisel on one end and a malleable iron tamper on the other.
Plain Digging Bars (1080 series) have a 2" chisel on one end with nothing on the other.
Two-sided Tamp Bar (1044) has a 3 3/4 x 2 1/2" malleable iron tamp on one end and an oblong 6 x 2 3/4" tamp on the other.
Digging Spud with Tamper (852 series) has a great digging ability. The Digging Spud is well-balanced which means that the weight is distributed properly making it easy to use. The handle is made of steel pipe 1" in diameter for easy gripping. The blade and socket are made of one piece high-grade steel and the tamping head of malleable iron. Both tamping head and blade are shrunk and welded onto the handle, resisting the possibility of either coming off. The blade measures 3-1/2" in width giving it a larger digging surface.
NOTE: Digging Bars/Spuds are designed for digging. While some stone will be encountered in ordinary use, it is not a stone chisel or a pry bar and is not the proper tool for breaking rock.

Pike Poles Pike Poles were designed to aid the practical person in the field using pole line tools. Pike Poles are used to pike or support a pole when setting in the field. The pike is made of special steel made of one piece with upset face which will take the force of the end thrust and distribute it over the entire end of the handle. The ferrule is made of malleable iron. A rivet runs completely through the ferrule, handle and pike to further secure them.
Pikes Poles can be furnished with a Point Guard. The guard works easily and fastens securely in either the guarded or open position. When in the un-guarded position the guard is completely out of the way, snugly fitted around the pole. When the guard is in position, it automatically locks in place and provides protection from the pike point. The Guard will fit either the 2" or 2-1/2" pike poles.
The Twisted Pike will screw itself into a hard pole. It takes considerable effort to pull it straight out, but by turning the pole the same as one would turn out a screw it comes out easily.

Pole Cradles The E-Z up Pole Cradle provides an easy and simple way of lifting poles into position for framing. It saves time because it is a one man operation. The cradle uses the simple cam principle of rocking the pole off the ground and up.

Post Hole Diggers We offer Split Handle and Solid Handle Post Hole Diggers. The blades are made of our special alloy steel. The blades are attached by welding instead of riveting making a durable joint with no rivets to shear off. The fulcrum members are made of heavily constructed, channel-shaped steel – no castings. The diameter of the circle circumscribed by the digger blades is about 6 inches. Two bolts hold each handle to the digger head making them easy to replace when necessary.
The Split handles are used with a front to back motion. The Solid handles start out together and are pulled apart when using.

The diameter of the hole produced by each digger is approximately 6". The operating action for the solid-handle digger begins with the handle together. The handles are then pulled apart with a side-to-side motion to capture the load. With the split-handle digger, the operator uses a forward-and-back motion. The split handle design has a wider blade opening, which allows for a larger hole to be dug.

#4533 Combination Pay-out and Take-up Reel (For handling aluminum wire and cable) The coils and cartons of aluminum are larger than they are for copper. This reel is designed to take care of these large coils. Inside coil diameter may vary from 17" minimum to 27" maximum. Outside coil diameter is 37" with height of 12".
#902 - Plain Pay-out Reel This reel is made of hardwood, well braced and reinforced with sheet steel throughout. It is especially suitable for gang mounting on a wagon, when paying out several wires at one time. Reel pins also adjust for 12, 18 or 24 inch coils.
#900 - Heavy Type Barrow Reel This reel was made for heavy wire and heavy work. It is made of hardwood, well braced and reinforced with steel. A wide bearing, together with a long pivot and sleeve allow the reel to turn easily no matter how heavy the coil of wire on the reel. The small amount of friction developed by this bearing does not prevent the reel from turning freely, and its purpose is to keep the reel from paying out the wire too fast and tangling it. It is a high quality reel. The reel pins adjust for 12, 18, and 24 inch coils.
#3555 - Combination Pay-out Reel and Take-up Reel (For Copper Coils) This reel is extremely light weight yet strong and durably constructed. The frame is made of stout tubing. To add to the ease of portability, the guide pins fold flat so that the reel is compact enough to carry or slide into a truck or convert it easily from a pay-out to a take-up reel.
Two braces and a hand crank are furnished to hold the reel in an upright position. The guide pins are easily and quickly adjustable to take wire coils from 14" to 27" inside diameter.
The automatic brake is another important feature. As the wire is pulled, the brake releases and the wire pays out freely. The instant tension is released the brake sets and any possibility of back-lash is prevented. One man can tend to several reels.

Straight Shovels Our Straight Shovels are made with Ash hardwood handles and special 10-inch carbon steel blades with boron. The blade is forged to our special straight pattern and is then heat-treated . The straps are electrically seam welded to the blade. This shovel is completely straight from end to end. We also offer this straight shovel with a 6-inch blade. Handles are marked with footage marks to indicate the depth of the hole.
All shovels are tested for strength, balance, hardness, finish and workmanship.

Skidding Tongs Skidding Tongs are made of round high-carbon steel and have heavy up-set, hammer-forged points or hooks. High carbon steel is noted for its stiffness and extra strength. The sides are flattened evenly where they pivot. This gives a larger bearing surface and allows for the pivot to be shorter and of a larger diameter. The tongs are shaped so that a good grip is obtained on anything they straddle. The hooks are heat treated to resist straightening. The tongs are made with ring only.
NOTE: Skidding Tongs are not load rated and should not be used for overhead lifting.

Rated Timber Lifting Tongs Oshkosh Tools has introduced three sizes of Load- Rated Lifting Tongs. Lifting tongs are signified by yellow color and are capable of lifting up to 2500 and 5000 lbs. depending on the model - see chart below.
All units are tested per ASTM B 30.20 Ð 1999, each unit is tagged with rated load and serial number. Test data is supplied with each tong. Tags must remain on units at all times. Warranty is void if tag is removed or tampered with.

Spoons Our Spoon Shovels have the same high- carbon steel blades used to make our digging shovels. We use our own special patterns to manufacture the Eastern and Western styles.
Eastern Pattern (top image) is designed for lighter, sandier soils.
Western Pattern (bottom image) is designed for harder, clay like soils.
Both designs have a scoop shape to allow cleaning of mud, water and backfill from holes. Handles have footage marks to indicate depth of the hole.

Wood Handled Light, Heavy and Extra Heavy Tamp Bars - Handles for the Light, Heavy and Extra Heavy Tamp Bars are identical with only the thickness of the steel boot changing. Tampers are used to flatten and smooth dirt, stone, asphalt and other material.
Steel Tamp Bars are made entirely of Steel. The handles are made of 1" diameter steel pipe with heads made of malleable iron (one 6 x 2 3/4" and one 3 3/4 x 2 1/2" tamp). The heads are shrunk onto the handle and welded so they resist loosening. Although made entirely of metal, the construction gives it balance and weight for efficient use.
Curved Head Tamp Bars are designed and built for an excellent tamp job around posts. This is the only Tamp Bar which can tamp in those hard to get places. Because of the curved head it is possible to get closer to the wall of the hole and closer to the pole itself. Its design helps prevent "knuckle-busting" on the pole.

Tree Trimmer The Oshkosh Tree Trimmer is light, strong and cuts easily with positive locking ferrules. The head unit is made of two pieces of light forged steel, reinforced and riveted together. These sides act as a guide for the thin saw steel cutting blade. The blade is pivoted and starts cutting the moment the rope is pulled with a slicing motion. It can cut limbs up to 1-1/2" diameter easily. The handle is made in three sections; one six foot section attached to the head and two seven foot lengths all equipped with positive coupling over very rigid construction yet easily dismantled. It is furnished complete with handle and a short section of rope.

Tree Saw The Oshkosh Tree Saw is great when used along with the Tree Trimmer. The saw blade is thin, strong and fine toothed. The blade is fastened in the frame and both ends so that if it is broken the parts are unlikely to fall onto someone below.
The frame is of steel and has a hook for hanging the saw in the tree or pulling out cut branches that might be caught in the tree. The 6’ handle has a ferrule on the bottom to which one can connect the regular extensions of the Oshkosh Tree Trimmer.

Non-Conductive Handled Tools
The new handles are made with VHME (very high modulus extrusion) utilizing Celestran® long fiber materials to achieve a high strength core. The material gives the handle extra stiffness and outstanding impact resistance. In addition to the non-conductivity aspect, the handles have excellent UV resistance, good heat deflection and improved performance at sub-zero temperatures. The new handles have the same dimension as Oshkosh’s traditional wooden handled tools and can be produced in custom lengths.
The handles are produced in “safety yellow” for Oshkosh Tools and have proven to be structurally more consistent than wood, which lowers the potential for injury due to handle breaks. Products made with the new material include the Oshkosh Tools’ tamp bars, digging spud, pike poles and the 2000 Series of shovels and spoons.
