I år är förutsättningarna annorlunda men Mattias vill vinna igen. - När jag vann här förra året lovade jag mig själv att det inte skulle dröja länge till nästa seger så nu är det ju hög tid, säger Mattias som blev sjuk efter förra racet men räknar med att vara fit till helgens begivenhet. Zandvoort anses vara en bana som passar Abt-Audi- teamets Audi TT-R bra. Banan har många medelsnabba och snabba kurvor. Mercedes har hittills i år dominerat allra mest på snabba banor med hög toppfart. - Banan på Zandvoort är alltid en utmaning eftersom den är så hal, säger Mattias Ekström. Jag gillar det för man kan leka lite mer med bilen. Laurent Aiello vann förra årets serie just på Zandvoort men kan inte räkna med någon serieseger i år, även om det fortfarande är teoretiskt möjligt. People of the Beetle Generation sit up and take notice when they hear it today. They are strangely touched, experience melancholy, as though remembering something long since lost. It is a sound as unmistakable as the Beetle's silhouette: it buzzes, it putters - all against a background of soothing fan noises – a feeling of euphoria which has underscored our mobility for decades and which was the accompaniment for our independence and for growing prosperity during those years. Beginning in the late 1940's and continuing into the early 1980's, the unmistakable noise of the Beetle left its mark on the sound backdrop of German streets. Donau, April 29, 2021 – Audi will return to Le Mans and to sports prototype racing with an electrified sports car in the 2023 season. The successor to the successful Audi R18 is already taking shape. “The new LMDh category fits perfectly with our new set-up in motorsport,” says Julius Seebach, Managing Director Audi Sport GmbH and responsible for Motorsport at Audi. “The regulations allow us to field fascinating race cars in prestigious races worldwide. In addition, we are making use of synergies inside the Volkswagen Group with our partner strategy.” The successor to the Audi R18 is being built in close cooperation with the brands’s sister company Porsche. “A great strengh of the Volkswagen Group is the collaboration of the brands in the development of road cars,” says Seebach. “We are now transferring this proven model to motorsport. Nevertheless, the new sports prototype will be just as much a genuine Audi as the Audi RS e-tron GT that was launched recently and has also been developed on a platform shared with Porsche.” The sports prototype for the new LMDh category is currently being created at Audi Sport in parallel with the innovative SUV for the Dakar Rally. “Of course, the Dakar team is under greater time pressure, because there are only just under eight months left until our first participation in the Dakar Rally in January 2022,” says Andreas Roos, who is responsible for all factory motorsport commitments at Audi Sport. -

Can You Guess the Volkswagen?
When you think of VWs, do you think of the Rometsch, Hebmuller or Tempo Truck? Or are you more likely to think of Beetles and Buses? The lesser-known VWs have made a mark on the automotive world just like their more popular siblings. And like any vehicle, they had certain characteristics that were solely their own, or sometimes revised as the years went on. Mid America Motorworks takes a look at the VWs that have been making a quiet mark on the hobby. Volkswagen Type 4 The Volkswagen Type 4 is a mid-sized car manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen of Germany from 1968 to 1974 in two-door and four-door sedan as well as two-door station wagon body styles. The Type 4 evolved through two generations, the 411 (1968–72) and 412 series (1972–74). Over its six year production run, Volkswagen manufactured 367,728 Type 4 models, compared with 210,082 of the subsequent Volkswagen K70 with its four year model life. In the United States, VW sold 117,110 Type 4s from 1971 to July 1974. 411 Type 4 1968 – 1972 • 1969 411 4 Door sedan • The engine was aluminum based, more robust than the magnesium based Bug engine and went on to power the VW Bus until 1982. • 411s were 1700cc and 412s 1800cc. • All models had Macpherson strut front suspension. 1968-1969 they had carbs in the US, followed by fuel injection in later years. The horsepower was raised from 68 to 85 bhp by 1973. 412 Type 4 1972 -1974 • Stationwagen or Variant • Manufactured from 1968-1972 as the 411 and late 1972-1974 as the 412. -

The sporty coupé is celebrating its 30th birthday in 2018. The Volkswagen brand is presenting two very exclusive models from this series at the Bremen Classic Motorshow, which begins today. The Bremen Classic Motorshow traditionally marks the beginning of the new classic car season. Volkswagen is attending the small but impressive classic car show in the northern German city in its own right for the first time in 2018. Its centrepiece will be a Press contact sports coupé celebrating its 30th Volkswagen Corrado 16V G60 (1989) birthday this year – the Volkswagen Communications Volkswagen Corrado. The dynamic 2+2-seater was introduced in 1988 and Sascha Oliver Neumann Spokesperson Volkswagen Classic was originally planned as the successor to the Scirocco II. Two further engines were added to the Corrado range in 1991 – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 102 kW/136 hp and the top- of-the-range 2.9-litre VR6 engine (140 kW/190 hp) that accelerated the Corrado to up to 235 km/h. -
