The trial in Durban has attracted the major attention because the 16 are from the top ranks of the United Democratic Front, the nation-wide organization comprised of over 600 community, student, trade union, church and professional groups formed in August 1983. The UDF stands for a non-racial, unitary and democratic South Africa. Two of the UDF's national presidents, Mr Archie Gumede and Ms Albertina Sisulu (pictured here) , .head th~ list. The Government of the Tongue Author(s): Allestree, Richard (1619-1681) Publisher: Grand Rapids: Christian Classics Ethereal Library Description: Allestree meant The Government of the Tongue to serve as a partner to his treatise on biblical interpretation, The Lively Oracles Given to Us. While the latter deals with the proper use and application of the received Word, The Government of the Tongue deals with that of the spoken word. He draws primarily from the book of Proverbs and the general letter of James. First, he discusses why God gifted humankind with speech, then how humankind has since abused it. Serving for many years as provost of a boys' boarding school, Al- lestree writes practically and instructively. Kathleen O'Bannon CCEL Staff Subjects: Ethics Individual ethics. Character.
