    PRESS RELEASE Kenya Airways launches flights to Mauritius Nairobi February 7, 201 Kenya Airways has today launched direct flights to Mauritius as part of its broad strategy to expand its footprint across Africa. The newly launched service will operate four times a week - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. On Monday and Thursday flights will depart Nairobi at 11:45am while on Wednesday and Saturday flights will depart Nairobi at 9:50pm. Kenya Airways already has an existing code-share agreement on Air Mauritius three weekly flights to Nairobi. This new service will perfectly complement the existing operations and allow both airlines to offer passengers daily service between Nairobi Mauritius with a major beneficiary being the newly launched flights to New York. DISCUSSIONS 2.1 The objective of the AAMA SCM was to provide a forum to discuss the ATM safety- related concerns at the AFI-APAC-MID interface (with a focus on the Mogadishu Flight Information Region (FIR), and any ATM systems, standards and procedures that may be improved to address the safety concerns. In addition, ATM contingency planning was discussed and the meeting provided opportunity to update the Air Traffic Services (ATS) Letters of Agreements (LoAs) between Mumbai and Seychelles and Mogadishu and Mumbai ACCs. 2.2 The AAMA SCM addressed the safety issues in the Arabian Sea and raised concern related to the high level of LHD reports.

Irandu The three member states of the East African Community (EAC) have made great efforts in modernizing their air transport industry in order to meet the increased demand for international tourism and horticultural export trade. The policy adopted by the sub-region, at independence, to regulate the airline industry was the bilateralism approach with emphasis on reciprocity. Such a policy became a bottleneck in the development of the air transport industry in the sub-region. It became apparent that the EAC member states needed efficient air services and not airlines that served mainly as status symbols. However, the last decade witnessed the liberalization of the aviation sector in the sub-region. This liberalization process is part of a proactive policy to encourage global investment in the sub-region.
