FIG WORLD CUP IN RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS AGF TROPHY WORK PLAN BAKU, AZERBAIJAN JULY 22-24, 2016 FIG WORLD CUP IN RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS BAKU (AZERBAIJAN) JULY 22-24, 2016 WELCOME SPEECH Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Ladies and gentlemen! I am sincerely greeting all the participants and guests of great gymnastics festival. The capital of Azerbaijan, our native and hospitable Baku opens its doors to the participants of the FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics. It is not the first time when Azerbaijan hosts prestigious international sports events. Warmth and hospitality of our people, multiculturalism and tolerance peculiar to us, enabled our country to become sports capital of the whole region. A leadership of Azerbaijan gives all possible support for the development of sports and physical culture, international sports and Olympic movement. A new stage has commenced in history of Azerbaijani gymnastics since 2002 and this harmonious sports discipline got a new development impetus. 2003 remained in our memories as the year when the first World Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics was held in Baku. The World Cup series were organized in Azerbaijan for three years in a row. Already in 2005, the strongest gymnasts of the planet - the participants of the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships gathered in Baku. This event became the first World Championships in Olympic sport discipline not only in Azerbaijan but on the whole region. In 2007, 2009 and 2014, Azerbaijan hosted new major competitions – the European Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics. In 2015, the events in 6 gymnastics disciplines took place within the framework of the 1st European Games. -

Right of Reply in Reply to the Armenian Delegation Statement Which Was Full
Statement by the Delegation of Azerbaijan Human Dimension Implementation Meeting Working Session 13: Fundamental Freedoms I (freedom of movement) Warsaw, 27 September 2016 As delivered by Fidan Mahmudova Embassy of Azerbaijan to Poland Right of reply In reply to the Armenian delegation statement which was full of groundless accusations against my country, we wish to state that Armenia bears the responsibility for unleashing the war against Azerbaijan, by using force occupied twenty percent of Azerbaijan’s territories and carried out ethnic cleansing and committing other atrocious crimes. With regard to the 8-year old boy, who was travelling to Baku, we call on the Armenian delegate to end disseminating inaccurate information, as Luka was accompanied by his mother who did not possess travel permission for the child from his father which is required for individuals travelling under the age of 18 (the permission of both parents is required). Furthermore, Armenians and people of Armenian origin do not face any obstacles entering Azerbaijan. Thus, Armenian delegation participated in the First European Games held in Baku last year. In their interview Armenian sportsmen expressed their satisfaction with the participation. If there were any problems, they would have never participated in the next such kind of events. We also wish to state that last year the Armenian delegation took part in the chess competition which also was held in Baku in 2015. And finally, we’d like to remind the Armenian delegation that the Azerbaijani President personally awarded the sportsman of Armenian origin during 1st European Games in 2015 who won the second prize. -

Dr. James Naismith, the creator of basketball, participated. The first exhibition Homeshow, an exhibition show that took place after the team put on shows in other communities around the Northeast, took place in May of 1905. The touring and the Homeshow is a tradition that continues throughout the history of the Springfield College Gymnastics team. The first full-time Varsity Men’s Gymnastics coach was Louis C. Schroeder (class of 1912), in 1915. Schroeder was succeeded five years later, in 1921, by Leslie J. Judd; a position he held until 1956. Judd is widely considered a father of modern Gymnastics. Under his leadership, the varsity gymnastics team attained international fame. Perhaps the greatest contribution Coach Judd made to the team was the world-famous Living Statuary of Youth or the Tableaux. Women’s gymnastics became an intercollegiate team in the 1963-64 school year, and was coached by Diane Potter. -
