SANCTORUM OF GODDESS PADMAVATHI (Translation of Siri koluvu) English Version Prof. M. Madhusudana Rao Published by Executive Officer Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Tirupati. 2015 SANCTORUM OF GODDESS PADMAVATHI FOREWORD (Translation of Siri koluvu) Alamelu Manga is the Consort of Sri Venkateswara of the English Version ‘Seven Hills’. She is also named Padmavathi. The Shrine where Prof. M. Madhusudana Rao, this Divine Deity is situated is called Tiruchanur. This place is situated at a distance of 5km from Tirupati. She became famous as ‘Sri Padmavathi’, for TTD, Tirupati. devotees. Srinivasa took her to his chest and left for Tirumala. TIRUCHANUR Chapter 29 : SRI SUNDARA RAJA SWAMI TEMPLE CHAPTER-1 TIRUCHANUR In this book, let us know the most revered story of Alamelu Manga and about Tiruchanur, where the Universal Mother took Her incarnation in this Kaliyuga. This place, which is presently known to us as Tiruchanur means- Tiruchana meaning Sri Kantha. This is the place where Sri Mahalakshmi, the Abode of Wealth took Her birth. It was called 'Tiruchana Uru' - In course of time, it became Tiruchanuru in popular imagination. In the ancient time, it was the Ashram of Sri Suka Maharshi. In course of time, it came to be transformed as Sri Sukanur and Tiruchukanur and Tiruchanuru. It is the Holy Place, where Rishis like Sri Suka performed penance for 'Loka Kalyana'. It is so acclaimed as a Holy Place, where Parasara, ( the grand father of Sri Suka) did penance in a nearby place called Yogimallavaram and it was believed that Lord Venkateswara performed penance on the banks of the Holy Lotus Pond, for winning the Love of Sri Mahalakshmi. As a result of His timeless Penance, Alamelu with over thousand Petals has Originated; She is called Padmavathi as She originated from the Petals of this Lotus Pond. Thus, the Universal Mother became VYUHALAKSHMI; as She is present in Swami's Bosom. As Alamelu Mangamma is wor- shipped as ARCHAMURTHI, this place is also known 2 3 as Alamelu Manga Pattanam. Around the same time, Lord Venkateswara prayed to Sri Mahalakshmi and when Alamelu Manga became Swami's according to Her own wish, She originated as Alamelu VYUHALAKSHMI, another important event took Manga in the Ashram of Suka Maharshi, on the banks place: Swami married Padmavathi, the daughter of of the river Swarnamukhi. "Alarmel Manga" means a Akasaraju, the Emperor of Narayanavanam and the Holy Goddess shining on the Lotus. Hence, She is story of their marriage goes like this: In Tretayuga, called Padmavathi. When Swami is Himself yearning during Sitalakshmi's sojurn in the forest, when for Her Grace, what about the ordinary mortals like Vedavati, (i.e., Vedalakshmi) was forcibly taken away us? Therefore, we must pray to Her with great Bhakti. by Ravana, Sitalakshmi prayed Sri Rama to marry Her. First we must visit Tiruchanur to seek Her Blessings Sri Rama, who was devoted to only one wife, assured and pray to Her to see that Swami fulfils our desires, Her that He would marry Vedavati in Kaliyuga when for She is present in His Bosom, Always Kind and She would be born as Padmavathi and when, He Him- Ready to protect the devotees. We should pray to Her self takes the incarnation of Sri Venkateswara. Thus, without inhibitions or fear or sense of shame. She will accordingly, He married Padmavathi in Kaliyuga. He fondle us like a child if we submit all our prayers to left Vaikuntham and came down to Tirumala to fulfil Her with sincerity and obedience. She always helps the desires of His devotees. Her devotees. Vaikuntham vaa parityakshye She is the Eternal Source of Love and Kindness. Nabhaktaam styaktu mutsahe She sees that Swami sanctions the desires of Their Meiti priya himadbhakta devotees. She is present as VYUHALAKSHMI in Iti sankalpavanasi Tirumala and as Alamelu Manga or Padmavathi in Tiruchanur as ARCHAMURTHI. However, since He was separated from Sri Mahalakshmi, feeling deeply anguished, He appeared Paramatmudaina Hari Pattapuranivi neevu in the Unique Incarnation of Varahavatara. Aadimalakshmi ! and settled in Kolhapur Kshetra, as a result of the test Vimalapu nee patiki vinnapamu sesi mammu of Bhrigu Maharshi. She came and settled there in huff. She is worshipped are the Mother of All Gods, Manmatha and Lord by various names as Sri Mahalakshmi, Lakshmi, Pad Brahma too, You are the Treasure of Kindness. malaya, Padmakamala, Sri Hari Priya, Indira, Loka Kamadhenu and Kalpataruvu are Your sisters, while Mata, Mother, Ksheerabdi Tanaya, Ramaa, Bhargavi, the bright and delightful Chandrudu(Moon) is none Lokajanani, Ksheerasagara Kanyaka.

But, I am fortunate to have found friends, colleagues, and mentors who have inspired me to make this laborious task far from arduous. It was Frederick M. Asher, my advisor, who inspired me to turn to places where art historians do not usually venture. The temple city of Khajuraho is not just the exquisite 11th-century temples at the site. Rather, the 11th-century temples are part of a larger visuality that extends to contemporary civic monuments in the city center, Rick suggested in the first class that I took with him. I learnt to move across time and space. To understand modern Vrindavan, one would have to look at its Mughal past; to understand temple architecture, one would have to look for rebellions in the colonial archive. Catherine B. Asher gave me the gift of the Mughal world – a world that I only barely knew before I met her. Today, I speak of the Islamicate world of colonial Vrindavan. Cathy walked me through Mughal mosques, tombs, and gardens on many cold wintry days in Minneapolis and on a hot summer day in Sasaram, Bihar. The Islamicate Krishna in my dissertation thus came into being.

In many of the sacred Sanskrit texts, the highest accord is rendered to both women and Mother Earth, however, in today’s dominant culture, women and the earth are not as respected and revered as they once were. Given this background, the paper aims at investigating, through Sanskrit, how Mother Earth and women are depicted, interpreted, and revered. Further, an attempt is made to understand the gap between the Sanskrit perspective of Mother Earth and women and the social practices seen in contemporary India. Specifically, issues related to environmental destruction and the marital life and social security of women in India. This paper seeks to answer the following questions; What makes Sanskrit a divine language? How are Mother Earth and women are depicted, interpreted, and revered in Sanskrit? Can Sanskrit help to bring about a change in rethinking our perspective to Mother Earth and nature? Keeping these questions in mind, the papers tries to portray the power of Sanskrit as a language of higher consciousness, understand and describe how Mother Earth and women are depicted in Sanskrit, and lastly, to relate Sanskrit and the reverence of Mother Earth and women in contemporary Indian culture.

The chief aim of all the ancient writers of India has been to solve the mighty problem, namely, the cessation of miseries of existence and the attainment of the God-head. Admitting their exalted superiority in matters of philosophical and theological speculation, some people of the present generation boldly launch the theory that our literature lacks in works which may serve as a guidance of practical life. To disabuse the popular mind of this perilous misconception, we might safely assert that Hindu writers paid no less attention to practical morals and politics.

AP, India. ABSTRACT The temple of Sri Venkateswara has acquired unique sanctity in Indian religious lore. The Sastras, Puranas, Sthala Mahatyams and Alwar hymns unequivocally declare that, in the Kali Yuga, one can attain mukti (salvation) only by worshipping Venkata Nayaka or Sri Venkateswara. In this paper an attempt for CRM implementation in TTD through Seva Mangemement Information System. TTD provides a wide range of facilities to make pilgrimage a unique spiritual experience. The target groups for Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams to provide facilities are devotees and donors. Unless their views and perceptions are obtained and analysed it is not possible to draw inferences about the facilities provided to them. In this direction, on the basis of the data obtained through the survey the satisfaction levels on facilities are presented. Seventy eight percent of devotees were satisfied with Darshanam facilities (Queue System, packaged food, toilets, cloak rooms, medical aid and overall management) provided inside the Vaikuntam Queue Complex (VQC), while waiting for Darshan. In spite of TTD efforts in streamlining the queue system, 26 percent of respondents had to wait for more than 4 Hours inside the Queue Complex for getting Darshanam. It is suggested to make efforts to reduce darshanam time to save the save the time of the pilgrims, which could inturn solve accommodation and facilities problems to significant extent. ______________________________________________________________________________ I.
