Theme: ‘Thanksgiving and Hope’

Entrance Hymn: We Praise You

Greeting

We have gathered here today to mark the end of Key Stage 3. It’s a time of joy and sadness. We celebrate the unity we have shared in the past year, the friends we have made, the fun we have had together and we ask God’s blessing on all our students and their families gathered here today.

Penitential Act (All stand) I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Opening Prayer We thank you, gracious God, for the gifts of life and of love; we thank you for the gifts of learning and of intelligence. We ask you that you will always help us to use these gifts in your service. Give us a lively faith in you that will be stronger than any doubts we have, a hope that will take us through any hard times of life, and a love that is sincere as we give ourselves in your service. We ask this through Christ the Lord. Amen.

Liturgy of the Word

First Reading A reading from the prophet Hosea (Adapted from 11: 1-8)

The Lord says, When you were a child I loved you….. I myself taught you to walk; I took you in my arms, Yet you…….did not understand that I was the one looking after you. I led you with reins of kindness, with leading strings of love, I was like someone who lifts an infant close against his cheek; Stooping down to you………..I gave you your food. How could I part with you, how could I give you up?

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God

Achieving excellence together 3 Responsorial Psalm: God’s People

Second Reading A reading from St Paul to the Corinthians (1: 4-9)

Never stop thanking God for all the graces you have received through Jesus Christ. I thank him that you have been enriched in many ways, especially in your teachers, parents, and preachers; the witness to Christ has indeed been strong among you, so that you will not be without any gifts of the Spirit, and He will keep you steady and without blame until the last day. God is to be trusted, the God who called you to have fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God

Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia (Sung)

Priest: The Lord be with you. People: And with your Spirit Priest: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew People: Glory to you, O Lord.

Gospel A reading from the holy Gospel according to John. (John 15:9-12)

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayers of the Faithful

1 – Forgive us Lord for the wrongs that we have done to others and for what we have failed to do. Give us the strength to forgive those who have hurt us. Help us to realise that it is only in forgiving that we ourselves can be open to your forgiveness. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

2- Dear Lord, we pray for all those who work in our school, for our teachers and for all the staff. We are grateful to our Form Teachers and Head of Year who worked on our behalf this year. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

3 - We pray for all our relatives and friends who have died. We thank you God for the wonderful years and memories we shared with them and for the times that they helped us on our journey through life. May God welcome them and all those who have died into the fullness of everlasting life. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us. 4 Achieving excellence together

4 – We give thanks to God for the success we have gained in our recent exams. We ask you Lord to help us to be open now to the future and what lies ahead. May we always be aware that you are with us as we journey through life. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

5 – We pray for those who are most in need at this time. We think in a special way for those who are sick and all who struggle in life. Be near them Lord in their moment of need. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

6 – Lord, as we prepare to go our separate ways during the holiday season we turn to God who unites us even when we are apart. Give good health and happiness to everyone here. Watch over us and keep us safe until we are reunited again in September. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
