    Public Organization - League of women with disabilities «Ishtirok» April - July 2018 Analysis of the situation on inclusive education for people with disabilities in the Republic of Tajikistan Report on the results of the baseline research 1 EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION A basic study on the inclusive education of people with disabilities in the Republic of Tajikistan (RT) conducted by the Public Organization Disabled Women's League “Ishtirok”. This study was conducted under financial support from ASIA SOUTH PACIFIC ASSOCIATION FOR BASIC AND ADULT EDUCATION (ASPBAE) The research team expresses special thanks to the Executive Office of the President of the RT for assistance in collecting data at the national, regional, and district levels. In addition, we express our gratitude for the timely provision of data to the Centre for adult education of Tajikistan of the Ministry of labor, migration, and employment of population of RT, the Ministry of education and science of RT. SITUATION ANALYSIS Description of the disaster Description of the disaster Continuous heavy rains resulted in mudflows and floods countrywide between 1 and 7 June 2019. In total, 10 mid- scale mudflows and floods had occurred throughout Tajikistan. 1,350 households (6,750 people) were heavily affected in Khatlon province (Vose, Farkhor, Temurmalik, Pyanj and Khuroson districts), Sughd province (Devashtich, Isfara, Penjikent and Konibodom districts) and in Direct Ruled Districts (DRD) Rudaky and Fayzobod. At least 4 persons were killed in Khuroson, Penjikent and Pyanj. The mudflows repeatedly hit the same locations (in Farkhor and Vose) on 6 June 2019. Around 650 households were evacuated to neighbouring villages into safe places i.e. schools, mosques and relatives’ houses. The Government commenced relief operations

    Section 4 – Financial Proposal – Standard Forms1 Section 5. Terms of Reference Public Disclosure Authorized for the Preparation of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) 1. PROJECT DESCRIPTION 1. The prospective site of Rogun hydro power plant (HPP) is located about 110 km (by road on M41) ENE of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. Construction at an existing site was started during Soviet times, thus the proposed location is defined by already existing built assets (esp. underground works) and auxiliary infrastructure, such as office buildings, construction camps and access roads, some of which have deteriorated since construction was halted in the early 1990s. Public Disclosure Authorized 2. The World Bank has accepted the request of the Government of Republic of Tajikistan (the Government) to finance an assessment of the Completion of the Rogun Hydroelectric Project (HPP), which the Government considers as an important element of the country‘s economic development strategy. 3. The Assessment would comprise two complementary parts – (i) Technical-Economic and (ii) Environmental-Social including riparian issues and cross border impacts. Consulting services will be rendered by two separate firms for these two parts, while the work is to be carried out in parallel and in an interactive manner. The two sets of Assessment studies would be professionally reviewed on a running basis by two International Independent Panels of Experts (PoE), one for techno-economic and Public Disclosure Authorized dam safety, the other for environmental/social aspects. 4. The work would include assessment of all the previous work done to date. The most relevant reports/documents that need to be reviewed are: Rogun HEP Technical Project, 1980, by Hydroproject Tashkent, technical projects/documents done in 2008-2009 by design institutes Hydroproject and Moshydrostal.

    RAPID EMERGENCY ASSESSMENT AND COORDINATION TEAM (REACT) Floods/mudflow countrywide, Tajikistan (GLIDE: MS-2016-000049-TJK) Situation Report No. 4 (as of 3 June 2016) This report is produced by REACT in collaboration with Government and humanitarian partners. It covers the period of 26 May to 3 June 2016. Highlights One person, injured as a result of floods/mudflow in Rudaki District, died in local hospital, bringing the total number of killed by the 9-13 May disasters to six in all affected districts. The Government, with support of REACT partners, has addressed most critical needs of the affected population in two severely affected districts. The European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO) and the Swiss Cooperation Office (SCO) in Tajikistan have pledged more than US$ 110,000 altogether to support humanitarian relief. The majority of affected families have cleaned debris from their houses with support from the soldiers, paving the way for a full-scale recovery intervention. The Government started providing construction materials to families whose Drinking water delivered to affected communities. Rudaki.     Tajikistan Monitoring & Early Warning Monthly Report Monitoring & Early Warning in Tajikistan MONTHLY REPORT APRIL 2012 1 Tajikistan Monitoring & Early Warning Report – April 2012 GENERAL TRENDS NATURAL HAZARDS During April, avalanches, mudflows and floods can be expected. Floods can be triggered by rain on snow and mudflows triggered by locally heavy precipitation or rapid snow melt. WEATHER Average precipitation but above average temperatures are forecasted for April for most of Tajikistan. ENERGY SECURITY Increased flows into the Nurek Cascade have resulted in the lifting of restrictions on electricity. Reports indicate that an agreement has been reached with Uzbekistan on the supply of natural gas, and deliveries restarted on 16 April. FOOD SECURITY Wheat flour prices in Khujand continue to drop while prices in Kurgan-Tube and Dushanbe remain stable, possible reflecting rail delivery delays (Kurgan-Tube) and limited roads access to the north due to heavy snow and avalanches (Dushanbe). Fuel prices have dropped slightly. The Ministry of Agriculture reports damage to crops and livestock due to severe weather in the fall of 2011/winter 2011-2012, as well as a delay in spring planting. MIGRATION AND REMITTANCES Reported migration rates for the first three months of 2012 are significantly above 2011 levels. Reported remittances are 25% above 2011 in March. These increases may indicate a reaction to shocks during the fall 2011 and winter 2011-2012. ECONOMY GDP increased from January to February by 6.9% and totaled 3,334.5 million Tajik Somoni (701 million USD). In January - February 2012, the foreign trade turnover equaled 827.1 million USD, with a negative trade balance of 415.3 million USD.
