They replace a conventional timber or characteristics requested concrete sleeper and provide safer and enclosed passage for electrical and fibre-optic cables to pass under the track. The top covers and baseplates Fixed buffer stops are bolted to the rail track and do not move. They can are removable, so the cables need not be cut and the sleepers can be be fitted with hydraulic damper units if required retrofitted easily into existing track Sliding friction buffer stops incorporate a patented friction “shoe”. This attaches the buffer stop to the track rails and dissipates the kinetic energy of the vehicle as heat and sound. Our calculations derive the number of friction elements required to halt vehicles with a known speed and mass and the resulting stopping distance Buffer stops must be fitted to vignole rail types, either vertical and inclined, with 2, 3 or 4 parallel track rails depending on deceleration requirements Buffer stops comprise centre and outer buffing tips to match the vehicle’s coupler and damper systems configuration Buffer stops are either powder coated or galvanised to meet our customers’ requirements and their performance specifications Points of reference: • UK & Republic of Ireland, Mainland Europe (Italy, Portugal), North Baseplates are made at our in-house iron foundry from SG iron, and allow America (USA, Canada), Middle East (Israel, Egypt), Far East the cable sleepers to be configured for vertical and inclined track, different (Malaysia, India, Singapore), Australasia track gauges and different fastening types such as Pandrol and SKL type Cable sleepers can be untreated, galvanised or painted as required by the customer Painted Galvanised Wheel Stops and End Stops • The purpose of Wheel Stops is to stop a track vehicle’s movement at slow speed. They can be fixed in position or temporarily fitted. These are usually supplied instead of fixed buffer stops and are fitted so as to stop all the wheels on a vehicle’s axle simultaneously • End Stops are fitted to the end of the track and mark the limit of a buffer stop’s transit. This prevents further onward movement Permanent Way Track Materials Visit us online at: www.progressrail.com Cast and SG Iron Trackwork Components Predominantly serving the worldwide rail industry, our iron foundry produces cast iron and spheroidal graphite (SG) iron components to the following standards (and more): • EGI180, EGI220, EGI260, EGI300 • 500/7 • 400/18L-20 • CG385/2 We have in-house pattern making facilities and manufacture components up to 300Kg. Full metallurgical examination and spectrographic testing is done on site for every melt Stretcher (Spreader) Bars Able to cater for all stretcher bar types worldwide Within the UK, incorporating spring steel and rigid designs with forged or cast stretcher bar and web brackets when required Where required stretcher bars incorporate disc locking and prevailing torque security nuts to minimise risk of loosening. Bolt head captivation is also used to assist maintenance and ensure torque requirements can be met with relative ease Heavy duty stretcher bars for freight lines and freight depots, suitable for heavy Full depth adjustable stretcher bars for 56E1 switch duty switch stands rails – Network Rail All rail types catered for, in particular 95RBH, 90AM, 54E1, 56E1, 60E1 (UIC60), 54E1A1, 60E1A1, TW136 Ancillary Track Materials We manufacture a wide variety of products to meet the needs of any rail infrastructure owner: • Galvanised tie-splice shrouds for joining concrete through bearers and assist modular deliveries • Mechanical backdrive systems to support our permanent way switch systems • Tie bars to keep track within gauge • Train derailers • Electrification ramps and third rail ramp rails • Standard and junction fishplates Visit us online at: www.progressrail.com DET NORSKE VERITAS AUDITED • ISO 9001-2008 • ISO14001-2004 • ISO18001-2007 Progress Rail Services UK Ltd Sites South Queensferry Headrig Road, South Queensferry, Scotland Closest Airport : Edinburgh (EDI) - 7 Miles from site Darlington Dumfries Street, Darlington, England Closest Airport : Durham Tees (MME) - 6 Miles from site Sheffield Shepcote Lane, Sheffield, England Closest Airport: Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield (DSA) - 20 Miles from site Sandiacre and Beeston Osmaston Street, Sandiacre, Nottingham, England Closest Airport : East Midlands (EMA) - 10 Miles from site V e h i c Regions supplied: l e & G e P n e e C r ra m a s l a t E n M n e Please contact us for further information: g nt a i t n n W g e D a e a e n r y i s e ng i T s g e r David Evans n a Ca P S c k r s e o w t r d i v o n uc i Head of Sales & Marketing c r g k e s t s Progress Rail Services UK Ltd s Osmaston Street, Sandiacre, Nottingham, NG10 5AN, UK Permanent Way Track Materials [email protected] Switches & Crossings Tel: +44 (0) 115 921 8218 | Mob: +44 (0) 752 738 8803 | Fax: +44 (0) 115 921 8219 Permanent Way Switch Systems Copyright © 2013 Progress Rail Services UK Ltd.
