Lent and Easter Wisdom from Thomas Merton, Altar Cleaning Schedule from The Merton Institute for Contemplative Living

Feb 14: M Blomster & J Whalen This book is in a format similar to Lent and Easter Wisdom from Saint Benedict Feb 21: M Buren, E Trozzolo, & N Spear reviewed last week. The major difference is the reflection materials are taken from Feb 28: K McDonald & M Cisneros Thomas Merton (Father Louis, OSCO) the widely read Trappist Monk and spiritual writer. Adult Faith Formation: The Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mercy

If we consider that God is the Divine Bridegroom and the Church is his Bride, then the prophets can be seen as “spiritual marriage counselors.” They afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted, calling us to return to our covenant relationship with God. The Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mercy places the Old Testament prophets in context of salvation history, making their story and messages easy to follow, understand, and relate to our lives. Their prophetic words speak to us even today, as they draw us closer to our heavenly Bridegroom. Each week, you will come to know a prophet from Scripture and learn how his message sheds light on our faith. It’s not too late to join St. Peter’s for this 10 week study on Thursdays. Morning session: 9:30 - 11 a.m.; Evening session: 7-8:30 p.m. Study materials, $25. For more information or to register for the study, contact Christina Wright ([email protected]/816.550.0852) or Maria Gillcrist ([email protected]/816.868.5318).
