Dear Sharon Gin, Refer to File 12-0303,

We are pleased to present you with this petition affirming one simple statement:

"Stop the Hollywood Community Plan in its current form. Help us maintain our community, and improve infrastructure and services rather than increasing density, traffic, noise and congestion."

Attached is a list of individuals who have added their names to this petition, as well as additional comments written by the petition signers themselves.

Sincerely, Schelley Kiah

The whole "Hollywood Community Plan" effort was just a rigged game to distract people and pave the way for developers. The game is rigged and as long as people sit down at rigged games and hope for a fair deal there will be outcomes like this. Thanks for your efforts.

Cramming more high rise buildings with limited parking alongside our freeway corridors will make our situation much worse that it currently is.

Noel Norwick Los Angeles, CA Apr 14, 2012

Any additional development will make a bad situation (traffic on Barham Blvd is very congested especially during the hours of 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM and between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, even worse. Barham Blvd is not wide enough to add additional traffic lanes and the Barham Blvd bridge cannot support additional traffic during these hours of gridlock.

This is a fight between the out of area developers, who are motivated to and profit more from building grotesque, soulless skyscrapers than from several smaller buildings with the same floorspace, and the residents of Hollywood, who want to save their quality of life and the beautiful character of Hollywood. The City Council is elected by the residents of Hollywood, not the out of area developers. If the City Council is to maintain its integrity and honor its duty then it must side with the people.

The iconic views of the Capitol Records building will be ruined. Tourists won't like it. The infrastructure (water, sewage, electricity can't take skyscraper buildings. The 101 is jammed for hours morning and evening. The street traffic is congested. Why ruin the look of this historic area with disproportionally tall buildings that will look out of place? Preserve Hollywood, and don't destroy its character. You are going to have a lot of empty new buildings because the area will be too challenging for business access. if you go through with this misguided plan, in the future reporters will be writing "City Council approved a failed idea, fell victim to greedy developers."

LA is not NYC. People will not generally give up cars for the very limited mass transit available, and the longer distances that are traveled here. Building high rises with limited parking won't force people to do so, it will just increase the density of cars and automotive pollution, and create gridlock. It's great to create construction jobs, improve mass transit, and increase the tax base, but the long term plan should acknowledge the realities of life in California. Most people prefer cars over mass transit for multiple reasons, although many people can't afford cars, and use mass transit. Families need parks and green spaces, which are few and far between. Environment impact studies were mandated to maintain or improve our lives, and should not be waived in a misguided effort to remake flat Hollywood as a high density vertical city of subway and taxi riders. The goals of the Hollywood plan should be approved by the voters, not dictated by the powers that be in city or county government. Please allow the residents to make decisions about the future of our town.

Please consider reinstating height limits and density in the areas of the Hollywood Plan, especially around Vine/Yucca/Sunset and east. Current Infrastructure does not support these hyper-density proposals. There are high density proposals that are on top of the Hollywood/Yucca earthquake fault, the traffic is already abysmal. We suffer with the same aging water mains that have been rupturing all over Hollywood. The increased height will destroy existing neighborhoods and ruin the long-view of the iconic Hollywood Sign that currently can be seen from all over Los Angeles. The residents, over 50,000, do not think that this Plan adequately addresses the impact to the environment, infrastructure and liveability of Hollywood. Send this Plan back for ammending. I've been a resident of Hollywood for 20 years, and during that time I and have mostly seen the interests of Hollywood residents ignored by the city, and the interests of developers catered to. This plan does nothing for the people who live and work here—what it does do is line the pockets of developers and create more congestion and problems for residents. With all the new development enabled through this Community Plan we just see the problems we've been suffering through for years increasing exponentially. Without an in-depth study of the needs of this community as far as repair of and addition of new infrastructure, I can only see a decrease in the quality of our lives, and an exodus of residents out of this area.

As a resident and member of a family-owned home in the Hollywood Dell, I am open to changes and improvement in Hollywood. But I am very concerned about developers' tendency to perfect their project while ignoring its effect on adjacent properties and neighborhoods. If the Hollywood Community Plan aims to live up to its name and wants the support of me and my many, many neighbors in Hollywood, I would need to see a list of concrete promises to: Beautify, improve and enhance the Hollywood Dell and its environs. Eliminate chain link fences throughout the ENTIRE city of Hollywood (including Franklin/Highland). Beautify all freeway approaches. Create a special litter and graffiti removal team (with phone number for residents). VIP access for events and meetings for community association members (as the Hollywood Bowl provides to some extent). Speedy implementation of permit parking on Vine Street, Holly, Ivar, Argyle and all other streets north of Franklin. Signs that instruct "No Hollywood Sign Access" at entrances to Dell neighborhood. Finally, fast-tracking the repaving (not pothole-filling) of dangerous, crumbled streets in the Dell — an area that will no doubt suffer from an severe rise in traffic if the Plan is to be approved.

As a 40 year resident and one not opposed to positive change, I do oppose the Hollywood Community Plan. Over the past 10 tears we have seen a proliferation of business interests with very little consideration paid to the impact on residents living in the community. The impact on air quality alone, due to increased traffic, has negatively affected our community. I think most of us realize that we live in a city that is world renown, however, one of the aspects that make Hollywood alluring is its quaintness and small town feel. The current plan moves our community one step closer to "megatropolis" and our infrastructure, along with the original plans, did and does not support the kind of traffic and the increase in people that would result in the plan going through. I believe and most of your resident constituents believe, that this plan is neither good nor prudent for the community. Please do not support this plan. Thank you, Yvonne L. Westbrook, M.A., MFT

Please stop this plan, we have more traffic than we can stand. I left Manhattan because of the crowds, traffic and pollution. Someone's pockets are being lined her, and it certainly isn't helping the homeowners, who ARE the constituents to have a better life.

The East Hollywood Neighborhood Council has consistently opposed this Plan. It does nothing to address the serious needs of this community to upgrade infrastructure, provide for public safety, preserve historic resources, or create parks and open space. The only object of the Plan is to take away the voice of the community in the future of Hollywood. If enough people stand up for the Hollywood, we can save it for the future.
