Bernardo Bellotto (Venice 1721 - Warsaw 1780) The Courtyard of the Fortress of Königstein with the Magdalenenburg oil on canvas 49.7 x 80.3 cm (19 ⁵/ x 31 ⁵/ inches) Bernardo Bellotto was the nephew of the celebrated Venetian view painter Canaletto, whose studio he entered around 1735. He so thoroughly assimilated the older painter’s methods and style that the problem of attributing certain works to one painter or the other continues to the present day. Bellotto’s youthful paintings exhibit a high standard of execution and handling, however, by about 1740 the intense effects of light, shade, and color in his works anticipate his distinctive mature style and eventual divergence from the manner of his teacher. His first incontestable works are those he created during his Italian travels in the 1740s. In the period 1743-47 Bellotto traveled throughout Italy, first in central Italy and later in Lombardy, Piedmont, and Verona. For many, the Italian veduteare among his finest works, but it was in the north of Europe that he enjoyed his greatest success and forged his reputation. In July 1747, in response to an official invitation from the court of Dresden, Bellotto left Venice forever. From the moment of his arrival in the Saxon capital, he was engaged in the service of Augustus III, King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, and of his powerful prime minister, Count Heinrich von Brühl. In 1748 the title of Court Painter was officially conferred on the artist, and his annual salary was the highest ever paid by the king to a painter. -

Nurses and midwives actively killed their patients, many of whom were disabled children and infants and patients with mental (and other) illnesses or intellectual disabilities. The book gives the facts as well as theoretical perspectives as a lens through which these crimes can be viewed. It also provides a way to teach this history to nursing and midwifery students, and, for the first time, explains the role of one of the world’s most historically prominent midwifery leaders in the Nazi crimes. 6 Stand März 2021 ServiceHandbuch Orts- und Haltestellen- verzeichnis mit Haltestellen und Tarifzonenzuordnung Benutzerhinweis Hinweise zur Nutzung 1. Ort / Haltestellen Dieses Verzeichnis enthält alle Gemeinden, Ortsteile und Haltestellen, welche von ÖPNV- Linien innerhalb des VVO-Verbundraumes bzw. angrenzend bedient werden. Die Gemeinden, Orte und Haltestellen sind alphabetisch geordnet. Bei den Ortsteilen wird auf die entsprechende Zugehörigkeit zur Gemeinde verwiesen: z.B. Kipsdorf, Kurort – siehe Altenberg 2. Tarifzonen / Grenzräume Im VVO-Verbundraum sind die Haltestellen bzw. Orte Tarifzonen und Grenzräumen zugeordnet und können in bis zu drei Tarifzonen liegen. Die Nummern der VVO-Tarifzonen sind dreistellig. Beispiel: Die Tarifzonennummer 10.6 bedeutet: 10: Tarifzonennummer 2-stellig, 6: Grenzraum-Nummer: 1-stellig. Haben also verschiedene Haltestellen die gleiche Tarifzonennummer, liegen sie in der gleichen Tarifzone bzw. im gleichen Grenzraum. Bei Haltestellen innerhalb des ZVON-Verbundraumes wird als Tarifzone „ZVON“ angegeben. Bei Haltestellen außerhalb der VVO- und ZVON-Verbundräume sind keine tariflichen Zuordnungen angegeben. Brief History Originally from Altenberg, Saxony, Germany, (Christian) Philipp Biederman (18 Jan 1814- Apr 1890) immigrated to the United States. But his birth family remained in Germany. Biederman served in the Mexican War in 1847-48 and seems to appear in our earliest Bloomington City Directory in 1855. He variously worked in farming, general labor, and gardening. His wife, Leah (1834-97), was Pennsylvania born. Together they raised six children. The couple is buried at Scogin Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Scope The collection includes letters written to Philipp Biederman from his family in Germany plus a few letters (or drafts or copies) Philipp wrote to them. Nearly all are written in an old German script. Correspondents include Philipp’s father, mother, brother William and sisters Therese, Amalie, Agnes, and Auguste plus niece Agnes and cousin Elise. About seventeen of the letters were transcribed, translated, and analyzed by Illinois State University professor Andrew Weeks and five of his students in 2018.
