As the part of the project implemented in the program „International Urban Cooperation: Sustainable and Innovative Cities and Regions – Regional Action Latin America and the Caribbean” (IUC-LAC) two missions took place:

. 1 visit – 13-17.05.2019 Silesian Voivodeship . 2nd visit – 24-28.06.2019 Minas Gerais

Purpose of visits: increasing innovation, competitiveness and providing new opportunities for the economic development of regions, as well as exchange of experience in the area of implementation and monitoring of smart specializations 1 VISIT 13-17.05.2019 SILESIAN VOIVODESHIP

 the visit was attended by representatives of the regional authorities of Minas Gerais - Undersecretary of the Economic Development Department Juliano Pinto and representatives of institutions promoting innovation and supporting the development of entrepreneurship: FAPEMIG, MINING HUB, FUMSOFT as well as project manager from the European Commission: Xabier Sabalza  expected results of the visit - establishing cooperation between research units and entrepreneurs of both regions in order to develop and implement new project and business initiatives  visit points - meetings with key institutions of the regional innovation ecosystem of the Silesia Voivodeship, among others acting jointly for the economic development of the region, under the brand of Regional Specialist Observatories and visits in the key research infrastructure centers and entrepreneurship development centers in the region (Upper Silesian Agency for Enterprise and Development, Science and Technology Park "TECHNOPARK ", Institute of Chemical Processing of Coal, Central Mining Institute, Castle , University of Silesia, "Piast" Mine  promotion of the Śląskie Voivodeship and key cultural and technical facilities in the region, i.e. the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in , the International Congress Center in Katowice, the Maciej Shaft in , the Castle Cieszyn and the Cieszyn Castle Brewery, the Silesian Stadium … 13-17 MAY 2019 SILESIA!!!  the visit was attended by representatives of the authorities of the region of the Silesian Voivodeship - Deputy Marshal Wojciech Kałuża together with the Deputy Director of the Regional Development Department - Barbara Szafir and representatives of institutions promoting innovation and supporting the development of entrepreneurship: Central Mining Institute, JSW Innovation, Katowice Special Economic Zone and project manager from the European Commission: Xabier Sabalza  expected results of the visit - clarifying the scope of cooperation between scientific units and entrepreneurs in both regions and initiating new project and business ventures as well as defining the framework for cooperation between both regions  visit points - meetings with key state institutions of Minas Gerais, among others FAPEMIG, FUMSOFT, Mining Hub, Centro de Inovação Unimed, Start-ups - San Pedro Valley, Secretaria De Estado De Desenvolvimento Econômico, Ciência, Tecnologia E Ensino Superior  promotion of the Minas Gerais region and its key cultural and technical facilities, i.e. Ouro Preto, Museu das Minas e do Metal), Filarmônica, Mineirão - Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto Stadium … 24-28 JUNE 2019 MINAS GERAIS!!!  revitalization of mining and post-mining areas  revitalization of industrial heritage - on the example of the Industrial Monuments Route  environmental risk, impact assessment and trend monitoring (safety issues, security areas)  research and development projects in the area of renewable energy and other natural resources: water, energy, waste, etc.  comprehensive water and wastewater management  ICT systems for mining (security, monitoring of threats, counteracting threats, etc.)  support and development of start-ups (training, knowledge transfer)  medicine, health and biotechnologies  strategic management - as building administrative capacity to manage in the area of the Regional Innovation Strategy and smart specializations  promotion of cooperation networks on the example of the Network of Regional Specialist Observatories (operating in the Silesia Voivodeship) CONCERNED INSTITUTIONS
