Tang Teaching Museum Receives Transformative Gift of Contemporary Art Works from Peter Norton Collection Gift includes works by Matthew Barney, Glenn Ligon, Gabriel Orozco, Lari Pittman, Kara Walker, Carrie Mae Weems, and Fred Wilson SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (November 13, 2014) – The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College has received a gift of 75 works of contemporary art from the collection of the computer programmer and philanthropist Peter Norton. This is the first in a series of gifts to university art museums and teaching museums throughout the country—drawn from Norton’s personal collection—to support the integration of the visual arts in higher education, foster creative museum practice, and engage diverse audiences with contemporary art. Norton initiated his first large donation project in 2000, gifting over 1,000 pieces from his collection to 32 select institutions. His gift to the Tang Teaching Museum represents the inauguration of his second major donation project. In addition to the Tang, the museums receiving a gift from Norton include: UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley, California; Mary & Leigh Block Museum of Art, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois; California Museum of Photography and Sweeney Art Gallery at UCR ARTSblock, University of California Riverside, Riverside, California; Hammer Museum at UCLA, Los Angeles, California; Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri; Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts; and Williams College Museum of Art, Williamstown, Massachusetts. Each school offering basketball should have received two copies of the NFHS Basketball Rules Book from the OSAA, one for girls and one for boys. Athletic Directors received these in the mail. UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT NFHS Basketball Uniform Information: (http://nfhs.org/media/1018788/2018‐19_basketball_uniforms.pdf) Home uniforms shall be white and away uniforms shall be dark. Note that silver/light gray is not a legal uniform color. Headbands / NFHS Rule 3‐5‐4b: Headbands shall be a maximum of 2 inches wide. As directed by the OSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, players wearing “Concussion Headbands” shall have a documented OSAA exception. Athletic Directors shall forward these requests to Kyle Stanfield along with a note from an appropriate medical professional supporting the student wearing the equipment and a photo of the headband. Jewelry / NFHS Rule 3‐5‐7: Jewelry is not allowed during warm‐ups or competition. Please note that this also includes ear buds, headphones and rubber plugs, fishing line, etc. that is used to insert in pierced openings when jewelry is removed. VOLUNTEERS MAKE IT POSSIBLE I understand that each player is required to have volunteer(s) complete a minimum of 10 hours on their behalf throughout the 2019-‘20 basketball season, i.e. coaching staff, bookkeeper, practice assistant, concession, clock, gate, set-up before and/or clean-up after games or Friday night gym clean. An on-line forum will be made available through which volunteer hours are recorded. Players who do not meet this obligation will not be invited to the Sports Banquet to receive year end awards. You may choose to opt out of this requirement by paying the $50.00 ($5/hr) volunteer waiver fee.
