Educating Our Community for Success Edmonton County School Educating our Community for Success Spring Term Friday 10th January 2020 Dear Parents and carers On behalf of the school community I would like to wish you Happy New Year – I hope it is a successful one for you and your families, as we enter a new decade! At the start of this term we welcome new staff - Mr Tom Jeffrey (Science), Mrs Beatriz Betancort (EAL), Mrs Claire Henwood (EAL), Mrs Jennifer Whale (Finance Office), Miss Anjuma Lasker (Sixth Form Progress Lead) and Miss Corinne Harris (KS3 Progress Lead). We wish our new colleagues success in their new roles. As you know, we welcomed Lea Valley Academy into the Trust in October 2019 and in December, we made a full planning application to the London Borough of Enfield Council, to build Salmon’s Brook Free School. This new school is scheduled to open in 2021. In order to support the growth of the Trust, we have appointed Mr Paul Miller to be Head of School. Mr Miller is well known to the school community as Deputy Head and also as Acting Head of Primary when Mrs Franciosa was on maternity leave. He is therefore well placed to manage the school when I am engaged in work with both Lea Valley and Salmon’s Brook. We are actively recruiting for a Deputy Headteacher and we will inform you of that appointment in due course. Wishing you well for the term. Yours sincerely Dr S M Tranter Executive Headteacher Assembly Rota W/C 13th January 2020 Bury Campus Cambridge Campus Monday 13th January Year 11 Year 10 & 11 Tuesday 14th January Year 10 No Assembly Wednesday 15th January Year 9 Year 9 Thursday 16th January Year 8 Year 7 & 8 Friday 17th January Year 7 Year 12 IMPORTANT EXAMINATIONS INFORMATION EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENTS Make sure you check the seating plans posted in the playground in case there is a change of room for your exam (line up in the playground at least 15 minutes before the start time) Bring all the equipment you will need for the exam [black pens, pencils, ruler, calculator (where allowed), protractor, compasses] Full school uniform needs to be worn, with IDs placed on the exam desk Make sure you understand the rules Mobile phones/smart watches, or any other product with potential technological/web enabled sources of information must be switched off and put in bags. Throughout this year there will be more information emerging that is accessible for all students throughout Edmonton County School. This will be in line with the Gatsby Benchmark, a framework that enables Careers Departments to deliver programmes to guide students on their journey throughout School, to Further/Higher Education and beyond. Parental Guidance - Guide for Parents and Carers New from the Careers Writers Association, it is a known fact that parents worry about supporting their sons and daughters as they explore careers options and start to make career decisions. The Careers Writers Association has responded with their latest publication Career journeys for Young People: A Starter Guide for parents and carers one of the few, if not the only, careers guide entirely for parents. As well as the usual topics – GCSE options, A levels and alternatives, HE and other post 18 choices, Work Experience - the Guide covers making the most of life’s opportunities, career myth-busting and common career misconceptions, a philosophy for careers and what happens if it all goes wrong? If this is of interest to you, further information can be found on parentalguidance.org.uk and also available to buy on Amazon in paperback and for Kindle.

Please find attached a list and a summary of all Educational Establishments in London and NO2 levels based on both the LAEI 2013 update and LAEI 2016. The list has been taken from the register of educational establishments in England and Wales, maintained by the Department for Education, and provides information on establishments providing compulsory, higher and further education. It was downloaded on 21/03/2019, just before the release of the LAEI 2016. The attached spreadsheet has recently been published as part of the LAEI 2016 stats on Datastore here.
