His only escapism is through his imaginary friend, an ethnically inaccurate version of Adolf Hitler, who pushes the young boy’s naive patriotic beliefs. The Good Liar (12/20-23) A career con man sets his sights on his latest mark: a widow worth millions. And he means to take it all. But as the two draw closer, what should have been another simple swindle takes on the ultimate stakes. The Black Candle (12/26) A documentary about the struggle and triumph of African American family, community, and culture, using Kwanzaa as a vehicle to celebrate the African American experience. Parasite (12/27-29) South Korean black comedy thriller film. Free Holiday Film Series: A Christmas Story (12/21) and It’s a Wonderful Life (12/22). A non-perishable food donation is suggested for each screening. Santa will visit the theatre on Dec. 21 and there will be a Bike Giveaway before the movie. For more information and movie times visit www.CampusTheatre.org Lewisburg December 20: Holiday Jazz with the WCJO at the Community Theatre League The Williamsport City Jazz Orchestra returns to the CTL Mainstage for an evening of holiday tunes with a jazzy spin. www.ctlshows.com Williamsport December 21-22: Buffalo Valley Singers Christmas Concert “Christmas is Coming" The Buffalo Valley Singers will present a Christmas concert on Saturday Dec. 21 at 7:30 PM and Sunday Dec. 22 at 3:00 PM. The Buffalo Valley Singers will perform a variety of Christmas music sung by the choir as well as solos, duets and trios. https://buffalovalleysingers.org/ Lewisburg December 22: Barbershop Family Christmas at the Elias Center Enjoy a fun evening of barbershop music to celebrate the holiday season! Featuring WB4 Barbershop Quartet and Achording to Dad. https://www.mifflinburgpa.com/ Mifflinburg Now-December 29: Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley Brainy Mary Bennet, while on a Christmas visit to her sister’s English country estate, bumps into the equally brainy (and handsome!) Arthur de Bourgh. You’ll be rooting for them to get their heads out of their books and under the mistletoe in this rollicking holiday confection. This unofficial sequel to Pride & Prejudice has been a hit at theatres from coast to coast—see it now on stage at the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble. Bloomsburg ART & MUSEUM EVENTS Now- January 3: Cash & Carry VI Open Call Art Show at the Exchange Once again, we gave away panels for the community to create artwork. This year's "Cash & Carry" show attracted more than 425 pieces by about 150 artists from throughout the central Susquehanna Valley and beyond. Art will be for sale during any of the gallery’s open hours and there will be a pre-Christmas bash on Friday, Dec. 20, when you can pick up beautiful presents for almost everyone on your list, for between $15 and $50. December 18-28: Events at the Union County Public Libraries The Union County Libraries offer special and ongoing programs for adults and children. Programs this week include game nights; Baby, Toddler, and Preschool Discover programs; Zen Meditation and Yoga; ASL Language Learning and arts & crafts workshops. Special programs include: Cooking with Friends (12/19) Exchange favorite recipes with your cooking friends! Winter Holiday Makerspace- DIY Natural Room Scents (12/21) Add fragrance to your home during the holidays by simmering waters infused with spices, herbs, and fruit. Stop in at the Kidz Korner where stationary is provided to write a letter to Santa. When you’re done, just put the letter in Santa’s mailbox at the library and we’ll make sure it gets to him. Winter Book Bingo (12/30) Kids in grades K- 8 can win books, school supplies, and door prizes—all for free! Elf on the Shelf (through 12/23) Look for Dewey the elf and his silly shenanigans. Get Crafty! (12/16) Drop-in art program for all ages--make a Christmas tree ornament. Crazy 8s Club (12/19) After-school program for kids in grades 1-5 to use math skills for fun activities like cracking codes and building glow-in-the-dark structures. Special events include Homeschool Hangouts- Gingerbread Science (12/18), Fourth Annual Gingerbread House Competition and Display (12/21). View the amazing edible art by local artisans and kid hobbyists alike. Gingerbread creations will be on display through Jan. 10. Countdown to Noon: A Family Celebration of New Year’s (12/31) Enjoy themed crafts and games, and a "Countdown to Noon" with special musical guest Kerry Kenny. Rockin' New Year's Eve Party (12/31) Join us for our Fourth Annual London themed family event with Big Ben chiming at "Midnight" London time (7pm Eastern time). There will be appetizers, STEAM activities, make your own musical instruments, and a countdown to Midnight with a viewing of London fireworks, and MORE! New this year- the Bucket Brigade, which will feature bucket drumming, musical instruments, parachute fun, and a celebration of the New Year with bouncing balls. The LCM delivers hands-on, educational experiences for learning, imagination, and play. Lewisburg Children’s Museum Lewisburg HISTORY & HERITAGE Now-January 19, 2020: Holiday Toy Exhibit at the Taber Museum “When the Circus Comes to Town” will feature an extensive ‘Humpty Dumpty Circus’ with a ring master, lion tamer, clowns, elephants, donkeys, and trapeze artists, all under the Big Top tent. Also see carved circus figures, vintage toys, music box carousels and carousel horses. www.TaberMuseum.org Williamsport HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS December 19-20: Holiday Events in Shamokin Tharptown Christmas Display- View hundreds of illuminated vintage plastic and wooded figures. New items this year include a 6-foot freestanding joy sign and a 12-foot artificial tree.
