About the conference

The annual European Police Congress is the leading European Congress for Homeland Security, held in Berlin on 15 – 16 February 2011. Its self- conception is to create an information and exchange platform for decision makers from international polices, governments, embassies and the con - cerned authorities. The objective is to strengthen the dialogue between the protagonists, enable the participants to establish new contacts to col - leagues, conduct critical discussions on the latest topics and inform about the up-to-date developments in technology for police operations in its accompanying exhibition. Every year the European Police Congress is the established hub for around 1.500 experts from more than 60 nations. Re - presentatives from the full scope of police forces, intelligence services, governments, parliaments and embassies take part at the conference and cultivate the reciprocal information exchange. The European Police Congress is organised by the German newspaper Behörden Spiegel, the major publication specialised on the public sector in Germany and is supported by national and international authorities. In 2010 the conference was supported by the “Bundeskriminalamt (BKA)”, the “Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV)”, the „Vereinigung Kriminaldienst Österreich (VKÖ) and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).
