pursuant to Rule 143 of the Rules of Procedure
on the proposal to award the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump

Draft European Parliament Resolution on the proposal to award the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump
The European Parliament,
– having regard to Rule 143 of its Rules of Procedure,
A. whereas the EU threatened to deprive the states of Serbia and Kosovo of their status as candidate countries because they intend to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel1;
B. whereas, in the context of his efforts to reach a peace agreement between Serbia and Kosovo, US President Donald Trump committed himself, alongside these states, to the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital;
C. whereas US President Donald Trump also supports a peace agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia2;
D. whereas Donald Trump supported the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates;
E. whereas it is not uncommon to propose a US President for the Nobel Peace Prize – including Donald Trump’s predecessor, Barack Hussein Obama, although he took the country into several wars;
1. Proposes US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize;
2. Calls on the Commission and the Council to support this proposal.
