Since becoming a registered charity in 1981 the rescue has grown from strength to strength and now rescues over 1900 animals each year with numbers growing every year. Now in our 38th year the rescue has helped thousands of abandoned and stray animals to find their loving forever homes. All the stray dogs from both Flintshire and Denbighshire are brought to the sanctuary and are held for 7 days for the owner to come forward and claim them. If they do not get claimed, they are then put up for re-homing under our adoption scheme, after being neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and treated for worms and fleas. This rescue is a temporary home for dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, and we are always looking to develop our facilities, when funding allows. North Clwyd Animal Rescue is affiliated to the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust and relies on the support and generosity of the general public. Funding comes purely from events, donations, legacies and our charity shops. If you can help, support or give a small donation whenever you are able, it really does benefit the animals and helps to ensure the future of North Clwyd Animal Rescue. OPEN EVERY DAY 11AM-4PM WE ARE OPEN FOR ANIMAL ENQUIRIES EVERY DAY FROM 11AM-3PM NORTH CLWYD ANIMAL RESCUE WWW.NCAR.ORG.UK REG CHARITY:515195 01745 560546 Doris’s Bunker, our onsite café has gone from strength to strength this year and now has a regular band of visitors, including many of our dogs who have gone to new homes and come back for a visit. The café was kindly funded from a legacy from the Late Doris Davies, who once served tea to the troops cracking the WWII Enigma code. Doris, a lifelong dog lover and adopter of 2 NCAR dogs, died aged 95, but her legacy lives on in this fabulous facility. Providing hot drinks, cakes and hot and cold meals to adopters, volunteers, visitors and staff. Doris’s Bunker guarantees a warm welcome and a relaxed atmosphere for you to enjoy with your dog. The café also plays a major part in our onsite events and welcomes local walking, knitting , WI groups, and many more. If you would like to book afternoon tea for a group which you are involved with, please do contact the rescue for details. 2018 also brings special evenings to at Doris’s Bunker - so keep an eye on the website for this too ! OPEN DAILY FROM 10.30AM – 4PM NORTH CLWYD ANIMAL RESCUE WWW.NCAR.ORG.UK REG CHARITY:515195 01745 560546 VOLUNTEERING AT NCAR WHAT CAN YOU DO AS A VOLUNTEER We could not do the work that we do without the help of our volunteers. There are so many areas in which volunteers can help our vital and often life-saving work. We don’t just need help walking the dogs, and cuddling the cats and small animals; we also need help with fund raising events, in our charity shops, in our onsite cafe, in the laundry, or helping with the general maintenance of the sight to ensure it looks welcoming to our visitors and potential adopters. Every role is vital to the smooth running and success of the rescue. We always need volunteers helping with the day to day running of the rescue centre. Once you are a registered volunteer you are welcome onsite anytime between 8-5pm, 7 days a week. By volunteering at NCAR you could make a real difference to an animal’s life. If you are interested in any aspect of volunteering with us at NCAR please email [email protected] or call the rescue on 01745 560546 NORTH CLWYD ANIMAL RESCUE WWW.NCAR.ORG.UK REG CHARITY:515195 01745 560546 FUNDRAISING FOR NCAR YOU CAN GET INVOLVED TOO Fundraising plays a vital part in the day to day running of the rescue and in helping to finance larger projects, such as kennel improvements. It can be great fun, but is also hard work and we need the help of our volunteers and the local community. There are lots of different ways to raise funds for the rescue, including sponsored events, such as marathons, walks, sleepovers, skydives or something a bit different. If you would like to organise a sponsored event to raise funds for NCAR, please do get in touch with our fundraising team who will help get you started. Email [email protected] The rescue is so lucky to have the support from a number of local businesses, including Pets at Home, Mars Pedigree, Support Adoption for Pets, Bank of America, M&S Money, various pubs, cafes, local shops and chip shops. So why not nominate NCAR as your workplace’s chosen charity so that you and your colleagues can all help rescue animals. ONLINE SHOP YOU CAN GET INVOLVED TOO Our online shop is another way that you can help our rescue animals, while shopping for your own pets. Over Christmas, every dog and cat at the rescue was lucky enough to be nominated to receive their very own Christmas hamper and they all thoroughly enjoyed the treats, food and toys which they received. Many thanks to everyone who bought a hamper and helped make the festive period fun for our residents. Now you can donate a gift to any of our animals all year round through our online shop, with some new charity gifts which have been recently added. You can buy a bag of tennis balls or a pack of jumbones for our dogs; a playground toy or some whiskas temptations for our cats; or a boredom busting toy for our rabbits and guinea pigs. Just order online and they will be given to our animals on receipt of the order. We hope to add more exciting items to our shop in the near future, so do keep checking back so you can treat your own dog or cat to a new toy or some treats, while helping our rescue animals. www.ncar.org.uk/shop NCAR CALENDAR OUR 2019 CALENDAR OF NCAR RESIDENTS (PAST & PRESENT) Over the last few years, we have run a calendar competition to feature past and current residents of the rescue. This year we chose to use the NCAR residents themselves, and it was nice to see some of the long term animals feature each month. The calendars make great gifts for family and friends as well as a little treat for yourself. Calendars go on sale in October and will be available from our reception, charity shops, Doris’s Bunker and our online shop. make sure you get your copy as they were very popular. The cost of the calendars is kindly sponsored by local businesses, we are always looking for new sponsors so please contact us on [email protected] if you would like to support the 2019 Calendar. Strider was with us for nearly 8yrs and he was certainly a big character at NCAR and a very much loved part of the family! Last year Strider finally found his forever home after many years of searching for his perfect human family! Whilst Strider was here he certainly built up a rather big fan club with our regular volunteers and staff. He even had a new Retirement Village built for him with an inside and outside area, heated floors and room for his armchair! Strider now lives with a lovely couple and his new sister and is very much loved and often visits the rescue to see his loving fan club! We received this lovely Christmas Card from him and a Christmas visit! We wish him all the best and a very happy retirement with his lovely new family. Sometimes it takes time but there is always a home out there for every animal, they just need a second chance!
