Letters – San Bernardino Sun By LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | | March 25, 2018 at 6:05 pm The op-ed “Prosecutors gone wild” (Opinion, March 22) claims the prosecution of the Colonies corruption case was motivated by San Bernardino District Attorney Mike Ramos’ political ambitions. Strange, I thought the prosecution was motivated by the fact that a drug-addicted chairman of the Board of Supervisors went against the objections of both county and private attorneys to give over $100 million of the taxpayers’ money to a private developer, who then rewarded the county ofcials who supported the giveaway with $100,000 each. It’s ironic that if Ramos had chosen not to prosecute the case, his opponents would probably be using a “Developers gone wild” op-ed against him. — Ben Parker, Redlands A disarmament agenda The Democrats are pushing gun control to stop school shootings, starting with the AR-15. The AR-15 is no different than a Mini-14 but no one is talking about banning them. If the globalists can talk the American people into banning any gun it will open the door to banning them all. Pistols are concealable, shotguns shoot hundreds of projectiles down range in seconds and nobody “needs” a rie that can shoot 500 yards. Get the picture? Let’s say that the Democrats have a magic wand making all of the AR-15’s disappear overnight. Then, school shooters switch to a Mini-14. If they ban that, school shooters switch to pistols. So they ban that until every rearm is banned, but the school shootings continue. It’s not the gun, but it does fulll the globalist disarmament agenda. The globalists cannot proceed to a socialist paradise until everyone, including the American people, are disarmed. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. — Michael A. Pacer, Pomona Making demands get you nowhere in government Is there a way to lead Americans of any age to realize that they cannot obtain desired results in government by demand? Moving the nation requires people to work toward their desired goals by setting goals, joining various organizations, attending meetings, presenting logical arguments and convincing others of the value of your position. Speaking from experience, I know this is hard and sometimes tedious work. Nothing is gained by loud and disruptive demonstrations which lead to confrontations. That type of behavior may get the proverbial 30 seconds of fame on the nightly news but does not convince intelligent people to fall in step. — Richard Rorex, Apple Valley Too so on drug dealers Re “Is Trump right to ‘get tough’ on opioids?” (Question of the Week, March 20): Drug trafcking is unacceptable. Being too so on drug trafckers is another reason the number of trafckers is increasing. They are indeed smart since they barely get caught. In order to solve the problem, we need to think smarter. The government is doing the right thing proposing the death penalty for high- volume trafckers. Also, besides trafcking drugs, they also kill people and get away with it. It’s sad that people die from overdosing on drugs and leave family members behind, but they are the ones who make the decision to do drugs, choosing their destiny and path and have to live with the consequences. — Kenya Flores, Montclair Thanks, RSO A few days ago, my husband and I stopped at a local restaurant in West Riverside. We reached the front door just as a group of Riverside sheriff’s deputies were about to enter. We tried to let them in rst but they asked us to go ahead. When my husband was ready to pay, one of the deputies stepped up and paid for our order. https://www.sbsun.com/2018/03/25/developers-gone-wild-in-colonies-corruption-case-letters/ 2/4 Political ad accuses San Bernardino County DA of being a ‘sexual predator’ – San Bernardino Sun Political ad accuses San Bernardino County DA… LOCAL NEWS Political ad accuses San Bernardino County DA of being a ‘sexual predator’ San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael A.
