Bedfont & Feltham THE OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME OF BEDFONT & FELTHAM F.C. Season 2016-17 The In memory of Jim Tate Price £1 Yellows www.bedfontandfelthamfc.co.uk @BedfontFeltham /BedfontFeltham Affiliated to The Middlesex FA Members of The Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Football League Premier Division Saturday 28th January 2017 ~ Kick-Off: 3.00pm Bedfont & Feltham v Hartley Wintney The Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Football League, Premier Division Good afternoon everyone. This afternoon, we welcome the players, officials and supporters of Hartley Wintney Football Club; and our three match officials. We hope that all visitors enjoy their brief visit to The Volume 4, Issue 20 Orchard and have a safe journey home afterwards. Welcome to The Orchard for our twenty-first home fixture of the season, which is in the Premier Division of the Combined Counties Football League. The weather has been ‘seasonal’ of late, to say the least. Due to this, our home fixture v Staines Town in the Quarter-Final of the Southern Combination Cup and our away fixture at Epsom & Ewell were both postponed (although they have both been subsequently rearranged – see the fixture list inside). Our last league match saw us lose 2-3 at Horley Town. Craig Tomkins and Shakeel Morris scored our goals. Our visitors, Hartley Wintney are some twenty-three points above second-place Westfield and are on course for a second consecutive Premier Division title. We did cause them an upset back in August, by beating them 3-2 away. Hicham Abdellah scored a brace and Rashid Obbadi scored the third goal. Their Hampshire Senior Cup match v AFC Totton was abandoned on Tuesday night despite them being 1-0 up. Manager Aaron Morgan has recently signed six new players, including Jacob Lambe who made a fast impact by scoring against Abbey Rangers recently. More about Aaron and his plans for the team inside. Our next league fixture is away to Windsor, next Saturday. We then face a trip to Sutton Common Rovers on Monday 6th. They currently play at Sutton United on their 3G pitch, so unless there’s an inordinant amount of snow (memories of Willi Seuke sweeping the touchlines at The Arena), that fixture should definitely be on! Keep up-to-date with The Yellows via our website, Twitter and Facebook accounts. Enjoy the match and see you again soon. Main Sponsor Umbro is a British sportswear and football equipment supplier based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The company is currently a subsidiary of Iconix Brand Group. Umbro designs, sources, and markets football-related apparel, footwear, and equipment. Its products are sold in over 90 countries worldwide. The company was founded by Harold Humphreys, along with his brother Wallace in a small workshop in Wilmslow, Cheshire, inspired by the growing interest in football witnessed nationwide. The name "Umbro" is a quasi-portmanteau inspired from Humphreys Brothers Clothing. Umbro's kit debut was in the 1934 FA Cup final, when both teams Manchester City and Portsmouth wore uniforms designed and manufactured by the company. Other teams supplied by Umbro during the 1930s and 1940s were Sheffield United, Preston North End, Manchester United and Blackpool. Umbro was the official sports manufacturer of the English FA Cup and official sponsor of The FA, being the exclusive supplier of balls to the body's leagues. In 1952, the British team at the Summer Olympics wore Umbro kits, tailored for the needs of their individual sports. Umbro would supply kits for the British Olympics team for the next 20 years. In 1957 Umbro entered the tennis market, producing sports clothing in collaboration with player Ted Tinling. This collaboration extended for three decades. Another sportsman who collaborated with Umbro was Manchester United manager Matt Busby, in 1959. That same year the company started to sell its junior boys' kits, a set of shirt, shorts and socks that would allow young players to wear the same look as their footballing idols.

  • Bromley (FA Trophy)
HARTLEY WINTNEY FC HISTORY Hartley Wintney Football Club History Hartley Wintney Football Club was founded in the North Hampshire village of Hartley Wintney in 1897 and played in an area adjacent to the village's golf and cricket clubs, the facilities not quite being up to today's standard, with only a horse trough or the pond to remove the heavy mud from a sub-standard pitch. The Club's nickname of 'The Row' comes from 'Hartley Row', a former hamlet within Hartley Wintney. In 1953, the club moved to its present ground in Green Lane, known as 'The Memorial Ground'. A pavilion was erected and the team played in the Basingstoke League and, later, in the Aldershot League. In 1973, an influx of players under new manager Glynn Howell put the club firmly on the local football map. In his six year reign, the team won the Aldershot Senior League three times in succession, and the Aldershot Senior Cup. After several seasons in the Aldershot Senior League, Hartley were admitted to the Combined Counties League (previously Surrey Senior League). After the first couple of seasons and two changes of management, the club appointed Ian Bedford, and once again an influx of senior players brought Hartley success. Within his three years in man- agement, they gained trophies including the League Title (1982-1983) and Runners Up (1981-1982), Aldershot Senior Cup Winners (1980-1981), and George Allen Cup Win- ners (1981-1982). They were also Runners Up in the League Cup (1982-1983) and Al- dershot Senior Cup (1981-1982).

Today marks our first meeting with Bracknell Town in over 15 years, since a match in this division at Larges Lane in March 2004, which was notable for the fact that Kezie Ibe scored all four goals in a 4-3 Swans victory – this following up a 3-0 win here just a fortnight before. In fact, all our competitive meetings with Bracknell have come in three short bursts, beginning with a Spartan League double for Staines (including an 8-0 win), plus a win in the Spartan League Cup and a defeat in the FA Amateur Cup all in 1970 and ’71. From 1987 – 89 we met six times in the then Vauxhall Opel League Division 1, losing the first two without scoring a goal, then winning the next four without conceding one. Following a lone friendly in 2000, we met four times (three wins and a draw) in the leage between 2002 and ’04.

I though ‘It’s not going to be bettered.’ ‘We’re not going to get anyway near it.’ ‘Clubs aren’t going to want to do it again.’ The harder thing to do would be to reimagine it as something completely different, bigger and better. Guess which route we took? The Hopper & Son Non-League Challenge Trophy was born long before the completion of our virtual FA Cup. One of the trickier parts to our original competition was the necessary omission of 100-200 Step 6 clubs due to the limited number of entrants that the FA Cup offers. Those that missed out included some of the fantastic clubs we’d visited in the past and, although they may never have know and, even if they did, they may not have cared, I felt bad.

Today we G welcome our guests from GOSPORT BOROUGH FC to our home, and we hope they enjoy their short visit, and have a safe journey home to Hampshire’s south coast later tonight. My thanks go especially to Rachel Stone for providing details for this programme. Our visit to Gosport almost eight months ago produced a 2-1 defeat, but was a game that I think many of us felt we might have got some kind of result. A lot of water has passed under Staines Bridge since then, and ‘results’ have been few and far between, meaning that we’ve long since been relegated, but our visi- tors still have everything to play for as they try to preserve their Premier Division status.
