CABIDO Keywords: Diversity, Grasslands, Ploughing, Spatial organization, Succession Abstract: Spatial arrangement and diversity along a post-ploughing succession are analyzed in a plateau at 1800 - 1900 m altitude in Centra! Argentina. Four successional stages were simultaneously studied: I (1 year of abandonment after ploughing), II (3-5 years), III (25 years) and IV (40 years). Detrended Correspondence Analysis and diversity analysis, comprising species diversity, spatial diversity and mean spatial niche width, were applied. It is concluded that (i) Spatial organization of grassland changes with succession: during early stages vegetation distribution follows a topographical gradient from upper to lower positions on slopes, whereas mosaic patterns prevail in late successional stages. (ii) As succession advances, species diversity increases, making us reject the hypothesis that species diversity decreases with succession as a result of the dominance of the grass Deyeuxia hieronymi. This process is associated with a progressive reduction of mean spatial niche width. Introduction The aim of this investigation was to describe the variability in spatial distribution of grasslands along a post-ploughing succession in the mountains of Central Argentina.

H-7624, Pécs Ifjúság u. 6., e-mail: [email protected], [email protected] Bevezetés Az Epipogium aphyllum a magyar orchideaflóra egy igen ritka, mikoheterotróf faja. Pécs közigazgatási területén 2009-ben végzett raszterhálós flóratérképezésünk során, július 5-én a növény egy új, eddig nem ismert lelőhelyére találtunk. A bajuszvirág montán-szubalpin, diszjunkt areájú, eurázsiai elterjedésű faj. Az országban először POLGÁR (1935) találta meg a Bakony északi részén a Cuha völgyben, a legtöbb adata is a Bakonyból származik (BÖLÖNI – KIRÁLY 1997). Előkerült még a Visegrádi-hegységből (KOVÁCS 1957), a Kőszegi-hegységből (BÖLÖNI – KIRÁLY 1997) és az Új magyar füvészkönyvben (MOLNÁR 2009) olvasható elterjedési adatok tanúsága szerint a Bükkből is. A Dél-Dunántúlon csak Baranya megyéből ismert. A Keleti- Mecsekben két helyen találták: Vékény „Mocsola-völgy” (MILLER ap. HORVÁT 1976), Zengővárkony „Réka- völgy” (FARKAS ap. KEVEY 1993, MOLNÁR – FARKAS 1995), míg a Déli-Zselicben csak egy helyen került elő: Kán „Kakukk-völgy” (HŐDÖR 2001). Környékünkön Szlovéniában a Júliai és Kamniki Alpok montán övében, a szubpannon-, dinári-, és szubmediterrán régiókban (RAVNIK 1984), Szerbiában a Rtanj és Beljanica hegyeiben fordul elő (DIKLIĆ 1976). IUCN státusza Magyarországon „CR” (kipusztulással veszélyeztetett) (KIRÁLY 2007), Csehországban „CR” (ČEROVSKÝ 1999), Szlovákiában „EN” (veszélyeztett) (FERÁKOVÁ 2001), Romániában „R” (ritka) (1.), Horvátországban „DD” (adathiányos) (KRANJČEV 2005). Pécsen, a Misinától északra lévő Hideg-völgyben a patak partján leltünk rá egy tő egyetlen hajtására, melyen két virág volt.

The reviewed collections include: Herbarium of Natural History Museum in Belgrade (BEO), Herbarium of the Institute of Botany and Botanical Garden “Jevremovac”, University of Belgrade (BEOU), and Herbarium of the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics, Department of Biology and Ecology, University of Niš (HMN). Total number of 1108 herbarium sheets was examined, including 426 specimens stored in BEO, 484 in BEOU and 198 in HMN. The review of revised herbarium data for 18 plant species of the genus represented in the flora of Serbia is presented. Their distribution in Serbia is reconsidered according to obtained herbarium data and shown in the maps. Key words: Hypericum, herbarium material, revision, Serbia, distribution. 94 ZLATKOVIĆ, B. The essential oils investigated were characterized by a high content of non-terpene compounds and a low content of monoterpenes. The contents of non-terpenes, monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes in oils of the species H. barbatum, H. richeri and H. rumeliacum (section Drosocaprium) were similar and these oils were characterized by high contents of fatty acids. The oils of H. hirsutum and H. linarioides (section Taeniocarpium) contained a high percentage of n-nonane. There were similar- ities in contents of non-terpenes and sesquiterpenes in oils of species that belong to the section Hypericum (H. maculatum, H. per- foratum and H. tetrapterum). The oil of H. olympicum differed from others by higher terpene content. A comparison was also carried out of the chemical composition of the essential oils from flower, leaf and stem of H.

Abstract The genus Hypericum is one of the most important medicinal plants that contain 17 species in Iran, three of them are endemics. This paper reports the essential oil composition of eight Hypericum species from Iran. The essential oil analysis of a number of the studied plants has already been reported but their report from Iran may be valuable for scientists. Samples collected from different places between June and August 2010. The composition of the essential oils from Hypericum was investigated on the flower head. Essential oils were obtained by hydrodistillation method and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The essential oil yield and composition in H. androsaemum L.: oil yields (0.17%) and major components were longifolene 19.2%, - gurjunene 16%, and -gurjunene 8.4%, in H. apricum kar. & kir. oil yields (0.50%), and major components were cis-piperitol acetate 24.3%, p-cymenene 21% -pinene 8.3%; in H. armenum Jaub. & Spach oil yields (0.20%) and major components were -cadinene 30.6%, longifolene 10.4%, and E-nerolidol 7.4%; in H.

Charles Nelson "Thoughtful, observant, enquiring, he reasoned out horticultural techniques for himself from what he knew about Ireland's native plants." Born in Belfast in 1766, John Templeton began to take an interest in gardening when he was about 20 years old "and soon made his flower-garden an object of attention". In 1793, according to his biographer, Templeton laid out an experimental garden in what was formerly an orchard and osiery. A stream was redirected to pass through the new garden; this probably formed the serpentine pond that survived long after John Templeton's death. A rock-garden was created. Into this place Templeton brought "from various parts of the world, rare and useful plants, which he endeavoured to naturalize in this climate". That is the nub of his pioneering horticulture. 1 He had his own methods for germinating seeds. "I never apply artificial heat", he wrote, "In sowing seeds I think great numbers are lost by sowing too deep". So he sowed his seeds on the surface of the soil: "Nature sows on the surface and leaves to chance the covering of them by leaves or Moss". Following this principle, John put a thick wad of chopped moss over freshly sown seeds; he knew that this would keep the soil in the pots moist even in summer ''all the watering that is necessary is just to keep the [soil] dark color'd" – while in winter the moss-blanket "prevented the plants from being affected with frost".
