Bradury, Bennett, of Carmel, Calif., an artist who once lived part time in Hawaii, died Friday in Carmel. He was 77. Bradbury was internationally known as a seascape artist. He did some of his work along the coasts of Oahu and in the 1960’s, conducted art workshops in Hawaii. Until recently, his work was sold at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel art shop. He was trained to be a pianist and “he played an absolutely wonderful piano,” said Honolulu artist Teddi Scholz. Mr. Bradbury, born in Boston, joined the navy at 17, and then worked at Walt Disney studio in California, where he became an assistant director in special effects animation. He attended the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School on a scholarship. By 1949, he had embarked on a career as a full-time painter. “I never say anyone with so many friends, Scholz said. His work hangs in the homes of many movie stars and industry giants, many of whom were his friends, she said. No services were planned. The ashes were scattered at sea. BUTTERFIELD, LEATH L. of Honolulu died Jan. 6, 1991. He was born in Bloomington, Neb., and was a barnstorming pilot in the 1920’s and 1930’s. During World War II, he was in the Army Air Corps. He later flew for the Flying Tigers and the Arabian American Oil Co. He retired in 1969 as the Federal Aviation Administration’s chief of air space and procedures in the Pacific region.
