Peters., Xanthorhoe designata Hufn., Plemyria rubiginata Den. et Schiff., Perizoma alchemillata L., Eupithecia subfuscata Haw., E. succen- turiata L., Pterapherapteryx sexalata Retz.) являются новыми для территории Якутии, а 13 – малоиз- вестными, по которым получены новые материалы. Указания для Якутии Rhopalognophos glauci- naria Hbn. и Idaea serpentata Hufn., вероятно, являются ошибочными. По каждому виду приводят- ся сведения об исследованном материале, распространении и кормовых растениях гусениц. Ключевые слова. Lepidoptera, Geometridae, новые находки, редкие виды, Якутия. Abstract. Twenty three species of geometrid moths are discussed in the paper. Abstract Effect of different mowing regimes on butterflies and diurnal moths on road verges.— In northern and central Europe road verges offer alternative habitats for declining plant and invertebrate species of semi– natural grasslands. The quality of road verges as habitats depends on several factors, of which the mowing regime is one of the easiest to modify. In this study we compared the Lepidoptera communities on road verges that underwent three different mowing regimes regarding the timing and intensity of mowing; mowing in mid–summer, mowing in late summer, and partial mowing (a narrow strip next to the road). A total of 12,174 individuals and 107 species of Lepidoptera were recorded. The mid–summer mown verges had lower species richness and abundance of butterflies and lower species richness and diversity of diurnal moths compared to the late summer and partially mown verges. By delaying the annual mowing until late summer or promoting mosaic–like mowing regimes, such as partial mowing, the quality of road verges as habitats for butterflies and diurnal moths can be improved. STEPANOV” ENTOMOLOGICAL COLLECTION Cristina ȚUGULEA, Andrian ȚUGULEA, Nadejda MOCREAC, Valeriu DERJANSCHI Rezumat AL MODE Geometridele (Lepidoptera, Geometridae) din colecția entomologică „R. Stepanov”. Lucrarea prezintă analiza fluturilor din familia Geometridae (Lepidoptera) conservate în colecția entomologică „R. Stepanov” care se află în fondurile Muzeului Național de Etnografie și Istorie Naturală din Chișinău. Cele 158 de exemplare aparțin la 58 specii incluse în 42 genuri și patru subfamilii: Ennominae (20 de specii), Geometrinae (2), Larentiinae (19) și Sterrhinae – 17 specii. Din punct de vedere numeric cel mai bine este reprezentată subfamilia Larentiinae, care însumează 75 de exemplare din 158, constituind 47,5 %. Este REVERSE MODE urmată de subfamilia Ennominae cu 43 de exemplare și Sterrhinae cu 37 de exemplare. Subfamilia Geometrinae înregistrează doar 3 exemplare. Genul Acasis Duponchel, 1845 și speciile Acasis appensata (Eversmann, 1842) și Scopula decorata (Denis și Schiffermüller, 1775) sunt taxoni noi pentru fauna Republicii Moldova. Stepanov”, Republica Moldova Introduction The Geometridae moth is a very rich insect family in species and various regarding the sexual dimorphism. This is the second Lepidoptera family with about 23.000 described species occurring worldwide with the exception of the Polar Regions [8] and the most beautiful species being found in the tropics. The majority of the moth’s species are mostly nocturnal than diurnal. The Geometridae caterpillars are popularly called inchworms or loopers which are dangerous species causing the development of mass outbreaks which lead to defoliation of crops, forests, of trees and shrubs from parks and squares. -

A wide range of nectar sources had persisted until mid- summer, and when the sun came out at least, attracted large numbers and a rich diversity of butterflies. We explored from the lowlands to the high mountains, in weather that varied from warm and humid, to very hot and dry, albeit with persistent northerly winds on the last couple of days. In total the week produced 113 species of butterfly, together with many dazzling day-flying moths (particularly burnets) and other wonderful bugs and beasties. And almost nightly moth trapping gave us a window into the night-life, albeit dominated by Pine Processionaries, but with a good sample of the big, beautiful and bizarre. Add in to the mix the stunning scenery, a good range of mountain birds, a few mammals and reptiles, and wonderful food, drink and accommodation at Casa Sarasa: the perfect recipe for an outstanding holiday! Day 1 Wednesday 6th July We arrived at Zaragoza Airport, met Peter, and boarded the minibuses to be taken to Casa Sarasa in Berdún; it was sunny and hot, but there were still a few interesting birds to be seen en route, including White Stork, Booted Eagle, and Red and Black Kites. -

A nto n o va received 24.II.2000 Summary: 370 species of Geometridae are listed for the modern Volgo-Ural fauna. 7 species (Euchloris volgaria Guenee , Nemoria melinaria Herrich-Schäffer , Rhodostrophia calabraria Hübner , Ennomos effractaria Freyer, Ourapteryxpérsica M enetries , Yezognophos dilucidaría Denis & S chiffermüller and Y. serotinaria Denis & S chiffermüller ) are deleted from the list. Supposedly they were either erroneously determinated since Eversmann 's work or they are considered now of subspecific or infrasubspecific rank. 161 species are recorded from the re gion in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the fourth in a series of publications1 and deals with the composition of the pres ent day fauna of geometrid moths in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This re gion comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Regions, together with Tataria and Bash kiria. -

In the event, we were saved by the most recent weather, and at least when the sun came out the persisting nectar-rich flowers attracted large numbers and a rich diversity of butterflies. We explored from the lowlands to the high mountains in weather that varied from warm and humid to very hot and dry, but with little rain by day at least. In total the week produced 112 species of butterfly, together with many dazzling day-flying moths (particularly burnets) and other wonderful bugs and beasties. Occasional moth trapping gave us a window into the night-life, albeit dominated by Pine Processionary moths, but with a good sample of the big, beautiful and bizarre. -

Three and a half years of study in the other area from other forage species managed as intensive pasture showed little evidence of consistent water quality under the climatic conditions of the northeast US is not improvement under EQIP. As well as Lepidoptera, we enjoyed the birds, flowers and other fauna. Highlights included many birds of prey and, most memorably, more than 1,000 Griffon Vultures feeding at Santa Cilia. A really enthusiastic and expert group made the most of the week and we had a wonderful time exploring many different spectacular environments, from high alpine passes to the rugged and dry pre-Pyrenean ranges. Thanks must go to Peter and Melanie, our hosts at Casa Sarasa, who made us really welcome in their lovely ‘casa rural’ and kept us going with great breakfasts, delicious picnics and wonderful dinners. Peter also provided a moth trap which accounted for the good numbers in moth species observed. Thanks also to Ivan who was helping out at the Casa during the week and was unfailingly courteous, friendly and hardworking. The list of 52 species of geometrid moths (Lepidoptera: Geometridae) of the Baikal region (Irkutskaya oblast and Buryatia, Russia) is given. Rheumaptera neocervinalis Inoue, 1982 is reported as new for Siberia, 3 species are new for Baikal region, 18 species are new for Irkutskaya oblast and 4 species are new for Buryatia; distribution in the Baikal region of 4 species is confirmed; literature reference of 23 species from the region are considered as dubious. As result, total number of geo- metrids in the Baikal region reaches to 347 species from 153 genera. Genus name Scardostrenia Sterneck, 1928, stat. n., is removed from synonymy with the name Proteostrenia Warren, 1895; original combination of the name Scardostrenia reticu- lata Sterneck, 1928, comb. resurr. is restored. A key to Ourapteryx ussurica Inoue, 1993 and Ourapteryx sambucaria (Linnaeus, 1758) is given. Accuracy of the original geographic labels of the holotypes of Proteostrenia reticulata transbaicalensis Wehrli, 1939, Erannis bajaria var. -

This study represents a synthesis of recent faunistical results (2012–2015), regarding the Macrolepidoptera of Dobrogea (south-eastern Romania) (Fig. 1A). Records of species of great faunistical and zoogeographical importance for the Romanian fauna are included. Eublemma porphyrina (Freyer, 1844) is reported for the first time in the Romanian fauna. The presence of several species known in the country based exclusively on very old records is confirmed (e.g.Dryobotodes carbonis (F. Wagner, 1831), Eremodrina pertinax (Staudinger, 1879), Zekelita antiqualis (Hübner, [1809])). Certain rare species with few records are also presented, such as Catopta thrips (Hübner, 1818), Sphingonaepiopsis gorgoniades (Hübner, 1819), Grammodes bifasciata (Petagna, 1787), Clytie syriaca (Bugnion, 1837), Symira dentinosa Freyer, 1839, Chazaria incarnata (Freyer, 1838), Protarchanara brevilinea (Fenn, 1864), Polymixis rufocincta (Geyer, [1828]), Gortyna cervago Eversmann, 1844, Dichagyris melanura (Kollar, 1846), Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus) admetus (Esper, 1783), Libythea celtis (Laicharting in Fuessly, 1782), Kirinia roxelana (Cramer, 1777), etc. Several Macrolepidoptera species recorded for the first time in Dobrogea are also included, eg: Hyloicus pinastri (Linnaeus, 1758), Cyclophora quercimontaria (Bastelberger, 1897), Perconia strigillaria (Hübner, 1787), Dryobotodes carbonis (F. Wagner, 1831), Meganephria bimaculosa (Linnaeus, 1767), Cerastis leucographa ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775), Noctua janthe (Borkhausen, 1792). -

Butterflies & Moths of Andalucia Naturetrek Tour Report 12 - 16 June 2017 Report compiled by Niki Williamson Naturetrek Mingledown Barn Wolf's Lane Chawton Alton Hampshire GU34 3HJ UK T: +44 (0)1962 733051 E: [email protected] W: www.naturetrek.co.uk Tour Report Butterflies & Moths of Andalucia Tour participants: Simon Tonkin & Niki Williamson (leaders) with eleven Naturetrek clients Summary This five-day exploration of the fascinating Lepidoptera of the Strait of Gibraltar and around yielded butterfly and moth species of all shapes and sizes, from tiny Lang’s Short-tailed Blue up to soaring Monarch and Two- tailed Pasha, with a colourful array of Swallowtails, skippers, hawk-moths, waves and thorns in between! As well as delving in moth traps and chasing speedy butterflies, the group enjoyed relaxed days in perfect weather, taking in all the gorgeous birds, botany, scenery, culture and cuisine southern Andalusia has to offer. Day 1 Monday 12th June Simon and Niki met the group at Malaga airport, where they arrived from the UK on several different but closely timed flights, and whisked them away on the easy 90-minute journey to the Tarifa area. Our accommodation at the beautiful Huerta Grande eco-lodge is set in seven hectares of wooded grounds at the edge of the Alcornacales Natural Park. Our hosts had prepared a light lunch for us on our arrival, and we were able to unwind and absorb the tranquillity of our surroundings, seeing our first Speckled Wood (orange, rather than deeper brown here) and Monarch while we took a relaxed picnic.
