Seasonal changes were investigated in population characters, including abundance, time to sexual maturity, reproductive season, and recruitment of juveniles in a regional meta- population in Tokyo Bay. Crab samples were collected monthly at five small isolated habitats along the coast of the bay from July, 2011, to March, 2013. Ovigerous females were found during summer in a single peak, and a peak of ju- venile recruitment occurred in autumn. Size distribution analysis indicates that growth is slower than for other salt- marsh crab species and life span is at least 4 years. Females reach maturity when they enter the second breeding sea- son following recruitment. The slow growth and reclusive behavior of C. sinense may be closely related to the charac- teristics of its habitat which is under buried stones or wood in the uppermost part of intertidal muddy substrata. Re- cruitment of juveniles and the presence of breeding females were observed at all five study sites located along the Tokyo Bay coastline, suggesting that each population stably regenerates by larval settlement following larval disper- sal and growth in the water column in Tokyo Bay.

  • Studies on the Genesis of Metallic Mineral Deposits of Shin Jo and Yamagata Basins, Northeastern Japan (I)
岩 石鉱 物鉱 床学 会誌 60巻4号, 1968年 STUDIES ON THE GENESIS OF METALLIC MINERAL DEPOSITS OF SHIN JO AND YAMAGATA BASINS, NORTHEASTERN JAPAN (I) NORITSUGU OIZUMI Mining Division Prefectuval Governient of Yamagata The present structural set up of the Shinjo and Yamagata basins which are situated within the Inner Region, Northeastern Japan, is a result of repeated uplift and submergence coupled with igneous activity and sedimentation during the early stage of the Neogene. Those structur es formed as a result of uplift of the basement are the major faults and fissures parallel to the N-S trend of the present axis of the Basement Rise and the subordinate faults and fissures trending E-W and perpen dicular to that axis Those formed as a result of folding of the sedimentary rocks are the NNW-SSE trending structures of northern Shinjo Basin, the N-S trending structures of southern Shinjo Basin, the N-S trending structures of northern Yamagata Basin, and the NNE-SSW trending structures of southern Yamagata Basin. These structures include the fold axes and the faults and fissures parallel to them. In addition to these structures produced by folding of the sedimentary rocks, are the subordinate faults and fissures trending WNW and NE-SW to ENE. The crushed zones within these fractures were produced by an E-W lateral compression, which also produced exceedingly abundant E-W trending tension fractures, The NNE-SSE trending fissures adhere closely to these fractures caused by lateral compression. The individual ore deposits present within the two basins amount to a total of more than 300 ore deposits.

This road was the only road between Shonai and the inland area. It was a precipitous mountain road from Tsuruoka city to Yamagata city passing over Matsune, Juo-toge, Oami, Sainokami-toge, Tamugimata and Oguki-toge, then going through Shizu, Hondoji and Sagae. It is said to have existed already in ancient times, but it is not clear when this road was opened. The oldest theory says that this road was opened as a governmental road connecting the Dewa Kokufu government which was located in Fujishima town (now Tsuruoka city) and the county offices of the Mogami and Okitama areas. But there are many other theories as well. In the Muromachi and Edo periods, which were a time of prosperity for mountain worship, it became a lively road with pilgrims not only from the local area, but also from the Tohoku Part of a list of famous places in Shonai second district during the latter half of the Edo period. and Kanto areas heading to Mt. ll Lateral change of foraminiferal fauna at the horizon ● just below the tuffaceous key bed, O7, of the Otadai Formation in Chiba Prefecture, Japan Akio Hatta (Received October 8, 1985) Department of Science Education, Faculty of Education, Kagoshima University. K喝oshima 890, Japan Abstract Lateral change of foraminiferal fauna in a siltstone just below a tu打key bed O7 0f the Otadai Format- ion of Chiba Prefecture was investigated traversing the whole breadth of the Boso Peninsula. ● Faunal composition of planktonic Foraminifera of this horizon shows insignificant lateral change (Text-figure 4). This hirizon may belong to N.22 of the Blow (1969)'s zonation scheme, judging from the ranges of Globorotalia tosaensis Takayanagi & Saito, G. hirtuta d'Orbigny and Globigerina parabulloides Blow. The planktonic ratios of this horizon indicate the values between 70.3 and 84.1 %, and this suggests a typical off-shore environment. Faunal composition of benthonic Foraminifera shows significant lateral change (Text-figure 5). The siltstone beneath the O7 bed contains many specimens of deep sea species, such as Bulimina aculeata d'Orbigny, B. nipponica Asano, Bolivina robusta Brady and Uvigerina akitaensis Asano at every locality. Elphidium group and Quinqueloculina group, which are characteristic of shallow water, are very rare m the central part, but increase westward. ● Faunal change of benthonic Foraminifera is scrutinized by using the factor aualysis. The results are interpreted by referring to the distribution of Foraminifera in the adjacent seas of Japan. From the result, it can be thought that the second factor in the g-mode factor analysis is a parameter of abundance of shallow water elements (Table 2 and Text一五gure 6).

The strains isolated in Yamagata Prefecture did not showed auto-agglutination in broth, colony colour was mainly grey-white on TSA-C and NA-C medium, and there was no 50 kDa. major protein hand in the A-layer with SDS-PAGE. It was revealed from the results that non-agglutinating A. salmonicida exist in the strains isolated in Yamagata Prefecture. While there were no strains isolated in Hokkaido which were non-agglutinating. We suspect that the reason for the existence of non-agglutinating strains in Yamagata Prefecture may depend on the temperature at which this bacterium was isolated.
