Sunnhordland has a unique costal landscape that extends from the open sea, past the beautiful archipelago and all the way up the Hardangerfjord. With nine Cyclist Welcome accommodation providers and cycling routes, it easy to plan your cycling holiday. You can choose between more than 200 marked and graded walking trails that extend from the North Sea Trails in the west to mountains of up to 1,400 metres and glaciers in the east. You can see new and international stars at the biggest music festivals Tysnesfest, Festidalen and Skånevik. The biggest market in Western Norway, Etnemarknaden, takes place in the region. The cultural programmes of the Barony Rosendal, Coastal Saga Weeks and Bergen International Festival, which feature many big cultural events, mean there’s plenty going on all summer! Gilje Glacier experiences Folgefonna National Park offers a dramatic scenery and exciting activities on and around the glacier. Good starting points to the national park: Åkrafjordtunet, Sundal, Jondal, Odda and Rosendal. Visit the stone parks, go on a guided glacier walk, learn about the local history and sample local produce. Plateau: Northern, Central and Southern Folgefonna. Southern Folgefonna is the third largest glacier in Norway. Highest point: 1660 m.a.s.l. Areal: 270 km². Municipalities: Kvinnherad, Etne, Jondal, Ullensvang and Odda. The Folgefonn Centre in Rosendal The Folgefonn Centre in Rosendal offers exhibitions and films about the history of the nature in the area and the environment around Folgefonna.
