I am delighted to introduce the second edition of the Directory of Services for South and would like to congratulate all those involved for their work and dedication in updating the directory. In this age of information overload via the internet, accurate, reliable information on mental health issues and mental health and support services is essential. I hope this directory will prove useful to service users and service providers alike.

It is estimated that one in four of us will experience mental health problems during our lifetime. This directory was first produced in 2009 and has been revised in the hope that it will be of help to anyone who wants to know more about mental health problems and how to access local services. The aims of the directory are: • To provide a brief outline of the main mental health conditions • To inform service users, their families and friends of services and supports available to them • To be a resource for health and social care professionals and other service providers. • To promote recovery and well-being This edition of the directory has been collated by the South Tipperary Action Network – STAN Mental Health. The aim of STAN is to bring service providers together with a view to improving the quality of life and mental health of all citizens and in particular the de-stigmatising of mental health. Sincere thanks to all who contributed to the process of updating the directory. Thanks to the artists at the Western Studio in Clonmel, whose art work was the inspiration for the front cover.
