FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 21, 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 21, 2014 Labor Day Beach Bash Set For Big Action over Holiday Weekend at Historic Dodgertown VERO BEACH, Fla. – Though the dog days of summer are starting to see Fall around the corner, summer baseball continues in the hearts of youth baseball players and families. Historic Dodgertown is set to host its 4th Annual Labor Day Beach Bash youth baseball tournament from August 30-September 1. Following the Presidents’ Day Tournament every February, the Labor Day Beach Bash annually serves as one of the biggest holiday weekend events on the calendar. With school just underway, the three-day tourney will host a Florida-based contingent of teams ranging from Clearwater-St. Petersburg, Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and even the Florida Keys, along with regional area squads. With many teams still completing the registration process, over 50 teams are expected and a number of hotels in the area are already at or near capacity. Games will begin Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 8 a.m. and will continue throughout the evening, while Friday night games are still a possibility as teams continue to register. Admission is just $5 per person, per day or $10 for a full tournament pass. Concessions are available at each field location, including the cloverleaf which hosts all teams ages 12 and under. Additional baseball and softball events in the coming months at Historic Dodgertown include the Elite Squad Fall Invite, Women’s Baseball Championships, Baseball Youth Fall Nationals, USSSA Baseball, Baseball Factory, Softball Factory Select Training, Gold Diamond Softball and Next Level Softball, among others. About Historic Dodgertown – Vero Beach, Florida Historic Dodgertown – Vero Beach, Florida is a multi-sport, 80-acre complex on Florida’s Treasure Coast managed by former Dodger owner Peter O’Malley in a partnership since 2012. O’Malley, whose family developed and expanded the site formerly known as “Dodgertown” for nearly 50 years, partnered with his sister Terry O’Malley Seidler and former Dodger star pitchers Chan Ho Park and Hideo Nomo. The home of Dodger Spring Trainings from 1948-2008, it was the starting place for six World Championships and 14 N.L. Pennant-winning teams. Numerous Baseball Hall of Fame players trained on these hallowed grounds, as well as 20 visits from professional teams in Asia. The all-inclusive facility, owned by Indian River County, gives teams of all ages the unique opportunity to train, play, dine and stay together in on- site villas. Participants utilize one of 10 ½ playing fields (seven are Musco-lighted for night games), including a new cloverleaf of youth baseball/softball fields with concessions area and new multi-purpose field (110 by 130 yards) for football, soccer and lacrosse. Other amenities include clubhouses, two full-sized weight rooms, dining room, Stadium Club lounge and a competition-size swimming pool. The home of 6,500-seat Holman Stadium, Historic Dodgertown – Vero Beach, Florida provides an all-encompassing experience for guests and is the ideal setting to build a championship team. It’s the perfect location for tournaments, camps, schools, business conferences and seminars. In one case, fans happily accept league expansion, soaring attendance figures, even exciting home run races as evidence that all is well in this best of all possible baseball worlds. In the other case, the same evidence can be seen as mirroring the desperate last flailing of a dying institution – or at least one on the edge of losing any recognizable character as the great American national pastime. Big league baseball’s modern-era television spectacle – featuring overpaid celebrity athletes, rock-concert stadium atmosphere, and the recent plague of steroid abuse – has labored at attracting a new free-spending generation of fans enticed more by notoriety than aesthetics, and consequently it has also succeeded in driving out older generations of devotees once attracted by the sport’s unique pastoral simplicities. Anyone assessing the business health and pop-culture status of the North American version of professional baseball must pay careful attention to the fact that better than forty percent of today’s big league rosters are now filled with athletes who claim their birthright as well as their baseball training or heritage outside of the United States.

Manufacturers are positioning themselves in the fast–rising smart–bed technology segment, where innovative product design and engineering features are wooing buyers in a new way. Beds, once thought of as ancient technology, have been re- vamped by manufacturers with the bells and whistles of the modern–day tech devices that consumers clamor for. These new bed products are designed around comfort, and not only target the aging population but also a wide range of other users in general. Some of the new–generation luxury beds are equipped with motors and lifts, have multimedia options, surround–sound capability, integrated–massage systems, and other leading technologies. The new battleground for home–furnishing manufacturers looks to be “smart–bed technology,” which is being embraced by growing numbers of consumers across various disposable–income categories. Local retailers say sales of these beds are on the rise, in a county where roughly 25 percent of the population is comprised of people age 65 and older. “One of the beds we’ve just received from a vendor is Wi–Fi capable.
