YOUTH 6 HEALTH SUN SAFETY INITIATIVE WITH THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY

For the third year in a row, the American Cancer Society and Minor League Baseball joined forces for the “Cover Your Bases” initiative to promote awareness and prevention of skin cancer. A total of 118 MiLB teams provided 100,000 free sunscreen samples, courtesy of Blue Lizard Sunscreen, and shared information on skin cancer and the measures taken to reduce risk. Ballpark activations included public address announcements, in-game promotions, first pitches and an on-site presence from American Cancer Society representatives.

HOPE AT BAT CAMPAIGN

New in 2019, American Cancer Society and Minor League Baseball expanded their national partnership to include a fundraising initiative called “Hope at Bat.” Ninety MiLB teams posted on social media on June 27, and hosted in-ballpark activities and events throughout the remainder of the season. In addition to in-ballpark activations, participating teams raised more than $9,500 online from June to September.

DERRICK HALL PRO-STATE FOUNDATION FATHER’S DAY INITIATIVE On Sunday, June 16, 69 Minor League Baseball teams playing at home participated in the Derrick Hall Pro-State Foundation Father’s Day initiative. The Derrick Hall Pro-State Foundation, founded by Diamondbacks President & CEO Derrick Hall, serves as a comprehensive tool for those who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families to help them understand the challenges and choices they face. The Father’s Day initiative, now in its third year, included a Lokai bracelet fan giveaway and a custom-engraved Louisville Slugger Father’s Day commemorative bat for each club to present to a qualifying individual. DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS

In spring 2019, Nebraska and Iowa were impacted by historic flooding. Minor League Baseball teamed up with and the Major League Baseball Players Association to make a joint donation of $50,000 to Team Rubicon in support of their flood response and recovery efforts for Nebraska communities.

Additionally, the Quad Cities region was impacted by historic flooding in the spring that affected Modern Woodmen Park, home of the Quad Cities River Bandits, and surrounding areas. In conjunction with the River Bandits, Minor League Baseball donated $7,500 to the Genesis Foundation Flood Relief Fund 12 to help those affected by the flooding. 13 SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY & GIVING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS INITIATIVE WITH THE CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS SAFE AT HOME FOUNDATION THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY Throughout the year, MiLB Charities is contacted by different organizations requesting donations for silent auctions, raffles, fundraisers, etc. MiLB Charities works within its means to provide items to these organizations if the organization meets the overall goals and objectives of MiLB Charities. Some of the organizations that received support in 2019 include: For the third consecutive year, the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation and Minor League Baseball teamed up in July to generate awareness about domestic violence and help end its destructive cycle. The Golden Bobblehead Awards are presented each year at the Minor League Baseball Innovators Summit. The Best Community Promotion or Event award is presented to the club that hosts the best charitable or community-related program, event or in-game promotion as voted by attendees. The winning club is given the opportunity to select a nonprofit organization of its choice to receive a $1,000 donation from MiLB Charities. The 2019 winner was the for their Teacher Appreciation Night, where the team awarded a local educator with $15,000 toward a master’s degree from Southeastern University. The Flying Tigers chose Kathleen Middle School in Lakeland, Florida, to receive the $1,000 donation, to repair damages caused by a tornado in October.

JOHN HENRY MOSS COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD The Community Service Award is presented to a club that demonstrates an outstanding, ongoing commitment to charitable service, support and leadership within its local community and within the baseball industry. The award was created in 2013 by Minor League Baseball in honor of the late John Henry Moss, who founded what would become the in 1959 and headed the circuit until 2007. The 2019 winner of the John Henry Moss Community Service Award was the of the Eastern League. As part of the award, MiLB Charities donated $2,500 to the Yard Goats Foundation, dedicated to providing social, educational and scholarship opportunities for youth in the Hartford area.

CHARLES K. MURPHY PATRIOT AWARD

The Charles K. Murphy Patriot Award is presented to a team or individual in Minor League Baseball for their outstanding support of the Armed Forces and veterans, both at and in the community. The award was created in 2016 in honor of the longtime Florida State League president and U.S. Army veteran Charles K. Murphy who passed away in 2015 at the age of 83. In addition to the award, MiLB Charities donates $5,000 to the organization of the winner’s choice on behalf of the MiLB Charities Stars & Stripes Fund. The 2019 winner of the Charles K. Murphy Patriot Award was Jerry Howard of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Over a four-day period, the Amarillo Sod Poodles staff helped The Stockton Ports’ annual Root Beer Float Day, pack food bags for kids. Every other week at the Sod Poodles presented by Amy L. Scriven, D.D.S., was held on warehouse, volunteers packed 14 brand-new, brand-name Sunday, Aug. 4. Fans could purchase a souvenir Ports nutritious food items into snack bags.
