Only Modesto (12-3; Low-A, SEA) has more wins than the RailRiders this season. Among all Triple-A teams, only Buffalo, Jacksonville, Reno and Round Rock have reached the 10-win plateau so far this season. July 24 PNC Field 6:05 p.m. July 25 PNC Field 1:05 p.m. DINGER ALERT: After shattering the SWB franchise record with 212 home runs in 2019 (previously 164 in 1998), the RailRiders are at it again, hitting 23 home runs in their first 15 games this season. The 23 round-trippers hit by SWB puts the club in a tie for third place in Triple-A East with Charlotte, Sept. 7 PNC Field 7:05 p.m. trailing Durham (29) and Gwinnett (25). The RailRiders are tied for sixth in minor league baseball in home runs, and it is a true team effort, as only Sept. 8 PNC Field 7:05 p.m. Chris Gittens (t-7th, 4) ranks in the top 15 in home runs in Triple-A East. Sept. 9 PNC Field 7:05 p.m. Sept. 10 PNC Field 7:05 p.m. WALK-A-THON: Through 14 games this season, the RailRiders have drawn 83 walks, the second-most in all of Triple-A baseball behind Gwinnett (86). No other team in the minors’ highest level has taken more than 78 bases on balls. Overall, the RailRiders are 10th in all of minor league baseball in Sept. 11 PNC Field 6:05 p.m. walks, with Tampa (Low-A, NYY) leading the way with 103 walks.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 21, 2014 Labor Day Beach Bash Set For Big Action over Holiday Weekend at Historic Dodgertown VERO BEACH, Fla. – Though the dog days of summer are starting to see Fall around the corner, summer baseball continues in the hearts of youth baseball players and families. Historic Dodgertown is set to host its 4th Annual Labor Day Beach Bash youth baseball tournament from August 30-September 1. Following the Presidents’ Day Tournament every February, the Labor Day Beach Bash annually serves as one of the biggest holiday weekend events on the calendar. With school just underway, the three-day tourney will host a Florida-based contingent of teams ranging from Clearwater-St. Petersburg, Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and even the Florida Keys, along with regional area squads. With many teams still completing the registration process, over 50 teams are expected and a number of hotels in the area are already at or near capacity. Games will begin Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 8 a.m. and will continue throughout the evening, while Friday night games are still a possibility as teams continue to register. Admission is just $5 per person, per day or $10 for a full tournament pass. Concessions are available at each field location, including the cloverleaf which hosts all teams ages 12 and under. Additional baseball and softball events in the coming months at Historic Dodgertown include the Elite Squad Fall Invite, Women’s Baseball Championships, Baseball Youth Fall Nationals, USSSA Baseball, Baseball Factory, Softball Factory Select Training, Gold Diamond Softball and Next Level Softball, among others.

Major League Baseball (MLB) is a league of different teams in different cities all across the United States, and those locations strongly influence the market of the team and thus the payroll. Year after year, a certain amount of teams, including the usual ones in big markets, choose to spend a great amount on payroll in hopes of improving their team and its player value output, but at times the statistics produced by these teams may not match the difference in payroll with other teams.

That's the percentage of voters who checked Walker in his ninth year of 10 on the Baseball Writers' Association of America Hall of Fame ballot. It's a dramatic jump from his previous high, 34.1 percent last year -- an increase of 88 votes. However, he's going to need an 87-vote leap to reach the requisite 75 percent next year, his final season of eligibility. Jayson Stark of the Athletic noted during MLB Network's telecast that the only player to receive a jump of at least 80 votes in successive years was former Reds shortstop Barry Larkin, who was inducted in 2012. But when publicly revealed ballots had him approaching the mid-60s in percentage, Walker admitted feeling excitement he hadn't experienced in past years. "I haven't tuned in most years because there's been no chance of it really happening," Walker said. "It was nice to see this year, to watch and to have some excitement involved with it. Kvam Abstract We propose a rank-based statistical procedure for comparing performances of top major league baseball players who performed in different eras. The model is based on using the player ranks from voting results for the most valuable player awards in the American and National Leagues.

    MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL WEEKLY NOTES FRIDAY, JULY 28, 2017 BLACKMON WORKING TOWARD HISTORIC SEASON On Sunday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Coors Field, Colorado Rockies All-Star outfi elder Charlie Blackmon went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and his 24th home run of the season. With the round-tripper, Blackmon recorded his 57th extra-base hit on the season, which include 20 doubles, 13 triples and his aforementioned 24 home runs. Pacing the Majors in triples, Blackmon trails only his teammate, All-Star Nolan Arenado for the most extra-base hits (60) in the Majors. Blackmon is looking to become the fi rst Major League player to log at least 20 doubles, 20 triples and 20 home runs in a single season since Curtis Granderson (38-23-23) and Jimmy Rollins (38-20-30) both accomplished the feat during the 2007 season. Since 1901, there have only been seven 20-20-20 players, including Granderson, Rollins, Hall of Famers George Brett (1979) and Willie Mays (1957), Jeff Heath (1941), Hall of Famer Jim Bottomley (1928) and Frank Schulte, who did so during his MVP-winning 1911 season. Charlie would become the fi rst Rockies player in franchise history to post such a season. If the season were to end today, Blackmon’s extra-base hit line (20-13-24) has only been replicated by 34 diff erent players in MLB history with Rollins’ 2007 season being the most recent. It is the fi rst stat line of its kind in Rockies franchise history. Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig is the only player in history to post such a line in four seasons (1927-28, 30-31).
