Minor League Report July 18, 2018 | Organizational Record: 259-256 (.503) Minor League Report July 18, 2018 | Organizational Record: 259-256 (.503) REC.: 50-43 SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE PLACE: 2nd RAILRIDERS GB: -6.5 TRIPLE-A INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE • Scranton went 4-2 last week…are 1-0 on their current 7G road trip and have won four straight games…are 10-3 in their last 13G. • RHP Chance Adams tossed 6.2IP (5H, 2ER, 3BB, 5K) on 7/12 vs. Rochester…allowed 2R-or-fewer in three straight starts, pitching to a 2.30 ERA (15.2IP, 13H, 4ER, 9BB, 13K). • INF Abiatal Avelino went 3-for-4 with 1R, 1 triple, 2RBI and 1SB on 7/14 vs. Rochester…since being promoted to Scranton on 7/6, is batting .353 (12-for-34) with 5R, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 5RBI and 2BB. • RHP Erik Swanson returned from the D.L. on 7/14 vs. Rochester and tossed 4.2 scoreless innings (2H, 3K) in his first Triple-A start since 6/12. • RHP Cody Carroll appeared in the Triple-A All-Star Game on 7/11, tossing 1.0IP (2K)…has yet to allow a run in July (5G, 2SV, 6.0IP, 1H, 3BB, 7K). REC.: 51-42 TRENTON THUNDER PLACE: 2nd GB: -1.5 DOUBLE-A EASTERN LEAGUE • Trenton went 2-3 last week…continue their 3G series at New Hampshire on Tues. • OF Devyn Bolasky is batting .395 (17-for-42) with 6R, 1 triple, 3RBI, and 3BB over his last 10 games…hit safely in four of five games last week, including 4H on 7/13 vs. Richmond. • RHP Domingo Acevedo tossed 6.2IP on 7/16 at New Hampshire (5H, 3R/3ER, 4BB, 7K)…the 6.2IP were a season high, marking his second consecutive quality start…over his last 5 starts, is 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA (27.0IP, 21H, 9R/7ER, 9BB, 23K). • OF Trey Amburgey is batting .333 (13-for-39) with 8R, 2 doubles, 2 triples, and 7RBI in his last 10 games…had three consecutive multi-hit games spanning 7/12-14 vs. Richmond. Prospect Profile | RHP Luis Rijo Last start with Rookie-level Pulaski on 7/13 vs. Bristol: W, 6.0IP, 5H, 1ER, 1BB, 8K, 1HP. • Earned the win in his last start on 7/13 vs. Bristol, tossing 6.0IP and allowing just 1ER on 5H (1BB, 8K, 1HP). • Is one of three qualifying Appalachian League pitchers to not allow a home run this season. • Has issued just 1BB in 27.0IP this season…through three professional seasons (since 2016), his 9.25 K/BB ratio (111K, 12BB) is the fifth-best in the Minors over the span (min. 100.0IP). • Is 3-1 in five games/three starts with a 2.67 ERA (27.0IP, 8ER)…as a starter, has gone 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA (16.2IP, 4ER)… opponents are hitting just .215 (14-for-65) with 0HR, 1BB and 14K in his starts. • Went 4-3 with a 3.50 ERA (54.0IP, 51H, /21ER • The 19-year-old native of Valencia, Venezuela, was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on 7/2/2015. “Rijo has improved at a rapid pace since he signed as a 16 year old out of Venezuela, and his latest performance is starting to become the norm every time he takes the mound. There aren’t many pitchers out there who can command the fastball like Rijo can, and continuously pound the zone with no fear of who he’s facing. He has elite strike throwing ability. His velocity is also trending up, his secondary pitches are becoming sharper, and his confidence will only raise his game to another level. He’s an exciting pitcher to watch, and he’s definitely a prospect to keep an eye on as the year progresses..” — Hadi Raad, Yankees Director of Minor League Operations 2H REC.: 12-13 TAMPA TARPONS PLACE: 5th GB: -6.5 SINGLE-A FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE • Tampa went 2-6 last week…continue their 6G road trip on Tues. at Charlotte. • RHP Garrett Whitlock tossed 7.0IP (2H, 1ER, 2BB, 8K) on 7/11 at Jupiter…his 28K since 6/23 are fourth-most among all FSL pitchers over that span. • RHP Nick Nelson threw 6.0IP (1H, 0R, 4BB, 5K) on 7/12 at Jupiter…threw 6.0 scoreless innings in three-of-four starts (6/24-7/12). • OF Dominic Thompson-Williams batted .300 (9-for-30) this week (7/9-7/16), with 4R, 1HR, 6RBI, 3BB and 4SB…recorded 3SB on 7/14 vs. Dunedin, which matched the season high by an FSL player this season (one of five players to do so). • LHP Phillip Diehl has not allowed an earned run over his last eight appearances between Single-A Tampa and Trenton (since 6/18), recording 33K and just 2BB in 15.0IP (4H, 1R/0ER). 2H REC.: 13-11 CHARLESTON PLACE: 3rd RIVERDOGS GB: -1.0 SINGLE-A SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE • Charleston went 1-6 last week. • 3B Dermis Garcia is riding an 11G hitting streak, batting .341/.400/.610 (14-for-41) with 5R, 2 doubles, 3HR, 8RBI and 4BB during that span. • RHP Dalton Higgins made three appearances (6.2IP, 2H, 2R/1ER, 2BB, 1K) …has only allowed 2ER since 6/5, going 4-1 with a 0.63 ERA in 11G (28.2IP, 13H, 5R/2ER, 8BB, 16K, 0HR) and opponents are batting .135 (13-for-96) against him during that span. REC.: 17-14 STATEN ISLAND PLACE: 2nd YANKEES GB: -2.5 SHORT-SEASON SINGLE-A NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE • Staten Island went 6-1 this week, sweeping two 3G series vs. Mahoning Valley and vs. West Virginia. • OF Brandon Lockridge batted .300 (6-for-20) with 3R, 1 double, 1 triple, 1HR, 3RBI and 2BB in his first 6G since being promoted from GCL Yankees West…in 16 professional games, is batting .340 (17-for-50) with 11R, 3 doubles, 3 triples, 1HR, 5RBI, 6BB and 3SB. • RHP Matt Sauer threw 5.0IP (3H, 2R, 1ER, 0BB, 7K) on 7/13 vs. Mahoning Valley…in three starts at home with Staten Island, has posted a 1.20 ERA (15.0IP, 6H, 3R, 2ER, 3BB, 12K). • OF Junior Soto batted .304 (7-for-23) with 4R, 2 doubles, 2HR, 7RBI in 6 games…hit 2HR on 7/11 vs. Mahoning Valley, his second career multi-HR game (hit 3HR on 6/17/17). REC.: 11-16 PULASKI YANKEES PLACE: 4th GB: -8.0 ROOKIE-LEVEL APPALACHIAN LEAGUE • Pulaski went 3-4 last week…finishes a 3G series vs. Princeton on Mon. • RHP Pedro Espinola fired a career-high six shutout innings on 7/15 vs. Princeton (2H, 0R, 1BB, 11K)…the 11K were also a career high. • RHP Luis Rijo tossed his second quality start of the season and picked up the win on 7/13 vs. Bristol (6.0IP, 5H, 1ER, 1BB, 8K)…the 8K tied a career high (2x: 8/15/17 vs. GCL Braves and 6/25/18 at Bristol). REC.: 8-15 GCL YANKEES EAST PLACE: 4th GB: -6.0 ROOKIE-LEVEL GULF COAST LEAGUE • The GCL Yankees East went 3-4 last week. • RHP Anderson Munoz threw 5.0IP and picked up his first professional win on 7/10 at GCL Yankees West (3H, 0R, 2BB, 9K). REC.: 13-10 GCL YANKEES WEST PLACE: T-2nd GB: -3.0 ROOKIE-LEVEL GULF COAST LEAGUE • The GCL Yankees West went 5-3 last week. • OF Stanley Rosario batted .304 (7-for-23) with 5R, 3 doubles, 2RBI and 4BB in raising his season average from .239 to .261. • RHP Pedro Barrios tossed 5.1IP (3H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB) with a career-high 8K on 7/11 vs. the GCL Braves…has only allowed 2ER in 25.2IP (22H, 7R/2ER, 3BB, 20K) for a 0.70 ERA this season. .

    2021 swb railriders 2021 swb railriders triple-a information On February 12, 2021, Major League Baseball announced its new plan for affiliated baseball, with 120 Minor League clubs officially agreeing to join the new Professional Development League (PDL). In total, the new player development system includes 179 teams across 17 leagues in 43 states and four provinces. Including the AZL and GCL, there are 209 teams across 19 leagues in 44 states and four provinces. That includes the 150 teams in the PDL and AZL/GCL along with the four partner leagues: the American Association, Atlantic League, Frontier League and Pioneer League. The long-time Triple-A structure of the International and Pacific Coast Leagues have been replaced by Triple-A East and Triple-A West. Triple-A East consists on 20 teams; all 14 from the International League, plus teams moving from the Pacific Coast League, the Southern League and the independent Atlantic League. Triple-A West is comprised of nine Pacific Coast League teams and one addition from the Atlantic League. With those guys throwing gas and thriving in the upper minors (and Loaisiga the other night with the major-league club), it’s easy to not think about what Brian Keller, someone who you probably won’t see on prospect lists, is doing in the farm system. The 23-year-old right-hander barely had his moment in the 2016 amateur draft, getting selected by the Yankees with the team’s 39th round pick out of the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Under the radar, since he was young, Keller has been exceeding expectations. (Video - https://youtu.be/cQE8XKlglxQ) At first, Keller didn’t think that he’d get the pleasure of hearing his name announced during the 2016 amateur draft, but if he did he’d make the most out the opportunity. “I wasn’t showing high-velocity numbers or complete dominance, and especially being at a mid-major school, I never expected to be drafted at all,” Keller said. “However, I was trying my hardest just to sneak my way into the draft, and all I really wanted was an opportunity. “I got that, and I’m just trying to make the most of it.” Keller pitched in three levels after getting drafted in 2016 in the Yankees organization. In 41 innings mostly out of the bullpen, he compiled a 1.54 ERA, while striking out 51 batters and walking just seven batters.
