DALLAS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PATRIOTS • DBUPATRIOTS.COM • @DBU_BASEBALL HORNER BALLPARK 15

2013 was the inaugural season of the Joan and Andy Horner Ballpark, the new baseball home for the Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team. Construction of Horner Ballpark began in summer 2012, finishing in time for the start of the 2013 season. The baseball field remained in its former location, with the new ballpark built up around it. The 2,000-seat stadium boasts club seating, a state-of-the-art press box, two radio booths, a TV booth, and guest suites, as well as coaches’ offices and a reception area alongside new sunken dugouts and enhanced field lighting. An outdoor pavilion down the left field line and several party patios on the upper concourse have been added as new fan amentities. Outfield turf was added following the 2015 season. Horner Ballpark hosted its first NCAA Regional Tournament in 2015, as the Patriots welcomed Oregon State, Texas, and VCU.

HORNER HEROICS Since Horner Ballpark opened in 2013, the Patriots have been one of the toughest teams in the nation to beat at home. DBU entered the 2021 season with a .738 win percentage at home, which ranks as the 14th-best win percentage in the country amongst teams that have averaged 25 home games per year. DBU has also become known for their late-inning heroics over the past eight years. Over that stretch, the Patriots have come-from-behind when trailing in the seventh inning or later on 24 occasions and have 13 walk-off-wins in their last at-bat.
