    Die Entstehung des Wintersports im Paznauntal Heutzutage ist der Haupterwerb der Bewohner im Paznauntal der Tourismus. Aus diesem Grund wurde das Landschaftsbild in den letzten Jahrzehnten durch enorme Bautätigkeiten radikal verändert. Aus einer bergbäuerlich geprägten Talschaft entstand, vor allem in Ischgl, ein Zentrum des internationalen Massentourismus. Im Paznauntal kann man sich auf 364 Pistenkilometer freuen. Die Skigebiete werden von 65 Skiliften erschlossen. Das Skigebiet in Ischgl (Silvretta Arena) ist grenzübergreifend mit dem schweizerischen Samnaun. Außerdem gibt es ein Skigebiet in Kappl (Dias), in See (Medrigalm) und am Talschluss das Skigebiet Galtür (Silvapark) am Zeinisjoch, das ins Vorarlberger Montafon hinüberreicht. Früher im Paznauntal: Das 19. Jahrhundert brachte zunächst eine starke Abwanderung im Paznauntal mit sich. Durch das Erliegen des Handels konnte die Bevölkerung im kargen Tal nicht mehr ernährt werden, weshalb viele Bewohner das Tal verließen bzw. verlassen mussten (Beispiel: Die Schwabenkinder). Am Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts tat sich aber eine neue Einnahmequelle auf, nämlich der Tourismus. Zwischen 1882 und 1889 wurden diverse Schutzhütten vom österreichischen und deutschen Alpenverein errichtet. Straßen durch das Paznaun wurden erst im 19. Jahrhundert gebaut. 1887 erhielten Galtür, Ischgl, Kappl und See eine Straßenverbindung nach Pians und Landeck. Heute ist das unsere Talstraße, die B 188. Sie wird Silvretta- oder Paznauntalstraße genannt. Diese Verbindung war somit auch ein Grundstein, dass der Tourismus in die jeweiligen Orte des Tales gelangen konnte. Der Aufschwung des Skisports: Der Skisport wurde nach dem ersten Weltkrieg rasant bekannt, denn nun konnten auch Touristen über die zur Kriegszeit errichteten Eisenbahnstrecken anreisen (bis Bhf Landeck möglich) und über die Hänge der Alpen hinunterwedeln.

    Documentation of forest and other woody land along trajectories of non-destructive rockfall V2 2018-04 Frank Perzl, Andreas Kofler, Elisabeth Lauss, Hanna Krismer, Monika Rössel, Christian Scheidl and Karl Kleemayr 1 Introduction In this guideline, an approach to consider forest structure and characteristics along a rockfall trajectory guideline is presented to determine key parameters, which help to evaluate the protective role of forests stands against rock-fall events. Therefore, this work should be seen as extension to “Guidelines for collecting data about past rockfall events” (ASP 462 – RockTheAlps; WP1 – Activity A. T1.2) proposed by Žabota & Kobal (2017). In this concept, the approach and the survey setup for a comprehensive rockfall hazard event documentation, focusing on woody vegetation, are illustrated. The main forest parameters are explained and in a “best practice example”, the general workflow and some exceptional cases are discussed. 2 General concept The spatial distribution of (woody) land cover units like forest stands with relative uniformity and the internal structure of woody vegetation of these units of homogeneity (U) is documented along rockfall trajectories (real rockfall paths) from the farthest block deposit (FBD) identifiable to the starting point of the rockfall hazard (the center of the scar – CS). Methods and work steps: 1) Preliminary orthophoto-mapping of the rockfall trajectory. 2) Preliminary segmentation of the rockfall trajectory into units of homogeneity (not stocked areas and stands of woody vegetation) by means of aerial image interpretation. 3) Preliminary determination of sample plot positions (plot centers) within the unity of homogeneity along the trajectory. 4) On-site inspection of the trajectory uphill: correction of the direction of the trajectory and of the U-borders, classification and description of U, log sampling along the segments, correction of sample point positions and plot sampling within Us.

This study reports about prehistoric fire incidents and their impact on the flora and vegetation near the village of Ardez in the Lower Engadine Valley (Switzerland) since the Late Neolithic Period. Pollen, charcoal particles and non-pollen palynomorphs preserved in the Saglias and Cutüra peat bog stratigraphies were quantified and the results compared with the regional archaeological evidence. Anthropogenic deforestation using fire started around 4850 cal.
