Ordinary. Mundane. Every-day. I think of teen-agers coming home from school, checking out the frig to see if there is anything to eat. They are always hungry. Throughout Scripture, hunger refers not only to the physical reality – our human need for nourishment, but also is used as a metaphor for our deeper human needs – for WEEKLY SCRIPTURE connection, understanding, acceptance, forgiveness, love. In Jesus, the Risen One, we are given the true satisfaction for all our hungers. He is the Bread of Life, sustaining us Sunday, April 18 through His real presence in the Eucharist; He feeds us physically and spiritually with Third Sunday of Easter Bread-that-is Body and Wine-that-is-Blood.
