Botanische Bestimmungsübungen 1 Euphorbiaceae Euphorbiaceae (Wolfsmilchgewächse) 1 Systematik und Verbreitung Die Euphorbiaceae gehören zu den Eudikotyledonen (Kerneudikotyledonen > Superrosiden > Rosiden > Fabiden). Innerhalb dieser wird die Familie zur Ordnung der Malpighiales (Malpighienartige) gestellt. Die Euphorbiaceae umfassen rund 230 Gattungen mit ca. 6.000 Arten. Sie werden in 4 Unterfamilien gegliedert: 1. Cheilosoideae, 2. Acalyphoideae, 3. Crotonoideae und 4. Euphorbioideae sowie in 6 Triben unterteilt. Die Familie ist überwiegend tropisch verbreitet mit einem Schwerpunkt im indomalaiischen Raum und in den neuweltlichen Tropen. Die Gattung Euphorbia (Wolfsmilch) ist auch in außertropischen Regionen wie z. B. dem Mittelmeerraum, in Südafrika sowie in den südlichen USA häufig. Heimisch ist die Familie mit Mercurialis (Bingelkraut; 2 Arten) und Euphorbia (Wolfsmilch; 20-30 Arten) vertreten. Abb. 1: Verbreitungskarte. 2 Morphologie 2.1 Habitus Die Familie ist sehr vielgestaltig. Es handelt sich um ein- und mehrjährige krautige Pflanzen, Halbsträucher, Sträucher bis große Bäume oder Sukkulenten. Besonders in S-Afrika und auf den Kanarischen Inseln kommen auf hitzebelasteten Trockenstandorten zahlreiche kakteenartige stammsukkulente Arten vor, die in den Sprossachsen immens viel Wasser speichern können. © PD DR. Synonymy, nomenclature and origin of plant material were sorted. The lists of species grown in the last 122 years are constructed in such a way as to show that throughout that period at least 1423 taxa of succulent plants from 254 genera and 17 families inhabited the Garden’s cold glass- house collection. The Canary Islands Dragon Trees & Blue Chaffinches A Greentours Tour Report 7th – 16th February 2014 Leader Başak Gardner Day 1 07.02.2014 To El Patio via Guia de Isora I met the half of the group at the airport just before midday and headed towards El Guincho where our lovely hotel located. We took the semi coastal road up seeing the xerophytic scrub gradually changing to thermophile woodland and then turned towards El Teide mountain into evergreen tree zone where the main tree was Pinus canariensis. Finally found a suitable place to stop and then walked into forest to see our rare orchid, Himantoglossum metlesicsiana. There it was standing on its own in perfect condition. We took as many pics as possible and had our picnic there as well. We returned to the main road and not long after we stopped by the road side spotting several flowering Aeonium holochrysum. It was a very good stop to have a feeling of typical Canary Islands flora. We encountered plants like Euphorbia broussonetii and canariensis, Kleinia neriifolia, Argyranthemum gracile, Aeonium urbicum, Lavandula canariensis, Sonchus canariensis, Rumex lunaria and Rubia fruticosa. Driving through the windy roads we finally came to Icod De Los Vinos to see the oldest Dragon Tree. They made a little garden of native plants with some labels on and the huge old Dragon Tree in the middle. After spending some time looking at the plants that we will see in natural habitats in the following days we drove to our hotel only five minutes away. The hotel has an impressive drive that you can see the huge area of banana plantations around it. -

A sneak preview The room was small and crowded, people were moving around and chatting all the time: it was very distracting. The 'main event' was a home-video showing the two day ascent of the 4114 m Tromen volcano in Neuquén province, northern Argentinian Patagonia [Figs.1, 2], which gives its name to the provincial nature reserve park there (Parque Provincial El Tromen). The protagonists had been the resident park rangers, and the 'theatre' was their office. It was put on for our benefit, as they'd discovered our interest in the flora as a whole, and violas in particular. -

Their isolation has given rise to many endemic species and subspecies, of which the great views of Tenerife Blue Chaffinch in perfect light were a highlight for many. We marvelled over the flora, so different to that of mainland Europe, and enjoyed the various species of lizards, plus the butterflies and other invertebrates we encountered. The day on La Gomera was a delight, not least for the numbers of Cory’s Shearwaters, whales and dolphins, plus the White-faced Storm Petrels we encountered. Lovely weather with plenty of sunshine, comfortable accommodation, good food and great company all made for an excellent week. Day 1 Saturday 23rd February Fly to Tenerife South – La Chafiras – Road to Vilaflor Fifteen tour group members met with Andrew and Jessica at Gatwick’s North Terminal for the 6.50am Easyjet flight to Tenerife South Airport. After a bit of a delay due to fog at Gatwick, we landed on the island at around 12.15pm, meeting up with our last group member, who had arrived on the island the previous day. -

Este estudio intenta describir dos asociaciones arbustivas, una en la parte oc- cidental de Tenerife, dominado por la tabaiba roja, Euphorbia atropurpurea, con césped de hierbas anuales, la otra en Fuerteventura, su aspecto dominado por verocíe, Kleinia ncriifolia, y espina blanca, Asparagus albus. 2. La estructura de la vegetación ha sido descrito según el sistema fisionómico de Dansereau. Las dos comunidades vegetales son parecidas salvo en la abundan- cia dc cspinas en la asociación de Klciriia - Asparu~qus,y las gramíneas mas extendidas en la asociación de Euphorbia atropurpurea. 3. Cada especie tiene un "valor de importmcia" calculado de su frecuencia re- lativa y qii rlnmininria re!ltivl. Para el análisiq de las formas biológicas se utiliza un sistema derivado de obras de Raunkiaer (1934), Du Rietz (1931), y Schmid (1956). Diferencias entre las dos comunidades vegetales existen en: la importancia menor dc hierbas anuales de la asociación de KIeinia y Aspnragus, plantas más ramificadas con hojas más caducas de la misma, las inflorescencias más peque- ñas y más escondidas, y los disemínulos de la misma asociación adaptados al transporte por el viento y por los pájaros. -
Pachypodium Geayi Is a Species of Pachypodium That Originated in Southwestern Madagascar
ISLAS DE CACTUS AFRICA - AMERICA - MADAGASCAR MADAGASCAR CACTUS ISLAND Deciduous shrub armed with large and strong spines, which is capable of reaching more than 2 m in height. Erect, long and robust stems that sometimes when young twist and develop in a disorderly manner, becoming about to two bulky main stems when the plant is adult. It is characterized by barbs up to 3 cm long, silvery and arranged along and in line, covering the entire plant. Rounded leaves, thick and fleshy, intense green and appearing in a number of between 2-3 units in the same areola. The flowers are grouped into large umbels at the end of the stems, they are very small and yellowish, although it is rare to flower. Irrigations should be measured, waiting for the substrate to dry before watering again. In winter you don't have to water it. It should be borne in mind that in its natural habitat rains occur sparsely and rarely. Uses It is grown in gardens in isolation. Its striking staff and the thorns that are arranged along its stem attract the attention of visitors to these gardens. Observations You have to be very careful in your handling for its impressive spikes, which can really do a lot of damage. Synonyms: Didierea procera Drake. -

Thème : Etude des effets nématicides et molluscicides des extraits de quelques plantes sahariennes. Co-directeur de thèse 2016-2017 RESUME Dans le présent travail, les parties aériennes de vingt et une plantes sahariennes (21) des différentes familles botaniques (Asteraceae ; Amaranthaceae ; Rhamnaceae ; Brassicaceae ; Plumbaginaceae ; Capparidaceae ; Caryophyllaceae ; Fabaceae ; Apocynaceae ; Solanaceae ; Verbenaceae et Euphorbiacaeae) ont été utilisées pour évaluer leurs extraits aqueux (par macération ou à reflux) et les extraits organiques (acétoniques et méthanoliques avec ces fractions : hexanique, éthérique, dichlorométanolique, chloroformique, butanoliques…) pour l’activité nématicide (vis-à-vis nématodes phytoparasites à kyste : Globodera sp. et Heterodera sp. et molluscicide (vis-à-vis aux mollusques d’eau douce transporteurs des parasites : Lymnaea acumunata et Bulinus truncatus ). Les résultats sont exprimées en LC50 (taux de mortalité est égale à 50% de la population testée) par l’analyse des probits. Après l’extraction et le criblage phytochimique des extraits, l’évaluation a été réalisée sous des conditions expérimentales convenables aux cycles de vie de chaque spécimen zoologique (Température 24°C avec l’humidité et l’aération).
