Call to Worship

I will remember the deeds of the Lord; Yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds. Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God? You are the God who performs miracles; You display your power among the peoples. With your mighty arm you redeemed your people

Song: God of Wonders

Verse 1 Lord of all creation, of water, earth and sky; The heavens are your tabernacle, Glory to the Lord on high.

Chorus God of wonders beyond our galaxy, you are holy, holy. The universe declares your majesty, you are holy, holy. Lord of heaven and earth, Lord of heaven and earth.

Verse 2 Early in the morning, I will celebrate the light. When I stumble in the darkness, I will call your name by night.

Confession and Assurance

Psalm139:1-2, 23-24. Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. ...Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Normal Text = Leader; Bold Text = People)

Lord, this morning we acknowledge that you know everything about us, that nothing is hidden from you. We confess our sinful condition before you, and we are aware of our human frailties. Contrary to your will, we often set up temporary “gods” in your place. We know they are worthless and only keep us from honoring you. We confess, too, that we do not love and respect our neighbors as we should. We know that your will for us is unity and mutual submission. We realize our desires are fickle and selfish, and separate us from you and each other. Heavenly Father, grant us your forgiveness through the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for the assurance that you made us, you love us, and you hear us when we call. Amen.

Song: He Knows My Name

Verse 1 I have a Maker, he formed my heart. Before even time began, my life was in his hand. He knows my name, He knows my ev'ry thought. He sees each tear that falls, and hears me when I call.

Verse 2 I have a Father, He calls me his own. He'll never leave me, no matter where I go. He knows my name, He knows my ev'ry thought. He sees each tear that falls, and hears me when I call. He hears me when I call, He hears me when I call. C 1996 Doulos Publishing CCLI License # 44931

Sermon A Hill to Die On Acts 17:16-34

Song: In Christ Alone

Verse 1 In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song-- This cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease. My Comforter, my all in all, Here in the love of Christ I stand.

Verse 2 In Christ alone, who took on flesh-- Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones he came to save. 'Til on the cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied. For every sin on him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live.

Verse 3 There in the ground his body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain; Then, bursting forth in glorious day, Up from the grave he rose again! And as he stands in victory, Sin's curse has lost its grip on me; For I am his and he is mine, Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

Verse 4 No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from his hand; 'Til he returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand! Installation of New Elders and Deacons

Apostle’s Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

Song: Doxology

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
