Infinitek Sponsors Unforgettables Charity Event

Giving back to the community Good food, good wine, good friends, GREAT music and a very good cause were celebrated on Friday night, September 25th by the InfiniTek group. Wiens Winery, Temecula, was gracious enough to donate their spacious outdoor Amphitheater with fantastic stage and sound system for a charity event to benefit The Unforgettables Foundation (see below). InfiniTek had reserved a table in the VIP section right in front of the stage. Two of the hottest bands from the “Rockabilly” movement had the place totally rocking (including InfiniTek’s chief Rocker, Mary Williams, CEO). Buzz Campbell, a popular lead guitarist/singer opened the program with his group, “Hot Rod Lincoln” presenting a medley from different genres. Then the legendary Lee Rocker formerly from “Stray Cats” took over and kicked everything up a notch. At his side on slide-guitar and vocals was the equally legendary veteran, Brophy Dale. These guys were hot!! The concert was held to benefit a worthy charity, The Unforgettables Foundation, founded by Timothy Evans in 1999. Since its inception, the Unforgettables has helped over 2,000 families in over 60 cities throughout Southern California. The mission of this organization is to assist families with limited means obtain a dignified funeral when the death of a child occurs. Accompanying the burial is a community education program to demonstrate how to properly memorialize the departed young person. The Unforgettables is run 99% by volunteers. "It's a tribute in a lot of ways," Rocker (nee Leon Drucker) tells Billboard. "It's a song I wrote over the last couple of months. I was thinking about my career with 40 years of Stray Cats and all of that and thinking about the upright bass, which is what started this thing. It takes me back to the opening line of the song -- which is "Took me 'round the world and I changed my name/found a little fortune, found a little fame/Doin' the dog house shuffle" -- which is right out of my story. Dog House is what they call the upright bass, so it's a tribute to the bass itself and a lot of the players that I came up listening to." STRAY CATS – 03. Juli 2019 – Berlin, Columbiahalle – Support: MESSER CHUPS – Text: Holger Ott Eine der wenigen Bands, die noch nicht auf meiner Wunschliste abgehakt ist, gastiert zum 40. Bühnenjubiläum in der Hauptstadt und ich möchte unbedingt bei diesem Ereignis dabei sein. Ja, die STRAY CATS, Mitbegründer des Neo-Rockabilly, haben auch schon einige Jahre auf dem Buckel, sind noch immer mächtig aktiv und locken so enorm viele Fans in die Halle, dass diese zum Bersten gefüllt ist. Wie nicht anders zu erwarten, tummeln sich vor Einlass viele Damen in ausladenden Pettycoats und Herren mit streng angelegter Schmalztolle vor dem Eingang. Es wird ein Fest, geht es mir durch den Kopf, mit sicherlich vielen Tanzeinlagen im Publikum. Ich schaffe es bin in die erste Reihe und bekomme somit nichts davon mit, wie voll und eng es im Saal wird. Also nichts mit Tanzeinlagen, es bleibt aus Platzgründen bei leichten Bewegungen in der Heringsdose. Kurzfristig wurden leider die Fotogenehmigungen gecancelt, somit muss der geschätzte Leser auf coole Bilder verzichten. Sehens- und hörenswert ist das Vorprogramm. Die MESSER CHUPS aus St. Petersburg in Russland geben Musik zum Besten, die natürlich aus den 50ern stammt, so klingt aber mit einer besonderen Note versehen ist. Heute Abend lautet das Thema: wer schafft in kürzester Zeit die meisten Songs. Die MESSER CHUPS dreschen in ihren gewährten dreißig Minuten gefühlte dreißig davon herunter. Wie viele es wirklich sind, habe ich nicht gezählt. Schaffen kann man das, in dem die Ansagen durch Drummer ROCKIN' EUGENE in Geräusche umgewandelt werden. Neben Stöhnen, jaulen und grunzen bringt er auch tatsächlich einige Textwörter im Background zustande.

An investigation of the electric bass guitar in Twentieth Century popular music and jazz. School of Contemporary Arts College of Arts, Education, and Social Sciences University of Western Sydney April 2005 i Abstract The acoustic bass played mostly an accompanying role in popular music during the first half of the Twentieth Century, whereas the arrival of the electric bass guitar in the early 1950s presented new opportunities for acoustic bassists and musicians, composers, producers, engineers, the recording industry and the listening public. The distinctive sound of the electric bass guitar encouraged musicians to explore new timbres. The musicians who embraced the electric bass guitar developed its language, discovering and employing different techniques.
