In the context of the above decision all operations of the company will be suspended as of the close of business today. In this analysis, the sources of confidential information shall not be revealed” Also in accordance with Directive 2003/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13th June 2003, the Reporting of Incidents is mandatory which occur in Aviation and in accordance with Regulation 334/2005 of the Cyprus Republic, the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Board is hereby appointed as the appropriate official authority for the evaluation and analysis of the incidents which are mentioned in the Regulation and recommending the implementation of any preventive actions that it considers necessary to be taken promptly to enhance Aviation Safety. The AAIIB as the official investigation body is obliged by the regulation to publish a Safety Review annually in order to inform the Public of the General Aviation Safety Level annually at national level. Having visited the now abandoned Nicosia International Airport on a couple of occasions when making an annual visit to Wayne’s Keep with British ex-servicemen, I have written about the Trident aircraft 5B- DAB which still sits at the airport albeit in a very forlorn and sad condition.To see this article click here In the article below there is a photograph of 5B-DAB when it was in commercial use and looking so smart. As a result of this article we were contacted by Captain Emre Unel, an airline pilot and very much an aircraft enthusiast, and he has kindly sent us some of his memories of a once busy and thriving airport and some of the aircraft which visited there pre-1974, together with other interesting information about the old airport and other aircraft of days gone by. This is a photo of Trident 5B-DAB which I took from the viewing terrace at Nicosia Airport in March 1973. I have many fond memories of the elegant terminal where we spent so much time. Over the years I have collected and written down lot of information and memories about NIC. I have also been able to assist a media company in producing a documentary about Nicosia Airport. This film has been quite successful and was even shown in the European Parliament.

    Fly America Act and Open Skies Agreements Guidance A person traveling on funds provided by the federal government must use a U.S. flag carrier (an airline owned by an American company), regardless of cost or convenience. When scheduling international travel that is federally funded, you must ensure that all flights, where possible, are scheduled on U.S. flag carriers or on foreign air carriers that code share with a U.S. flag carrier. Code sharing: when two or more airlines “code” the same flight as if it was their own. A U.S. airline may sell a seat on the plane of a foreign air carrier; this seat is considered the same as one on a plane operated by a U.S. flag carrier. Compliance with the Fly America Act is satisfied when the U.S. flag air carrier's designator code is present in the area next to the flight numbers on the airline ticket, boarding pass, or on the documentation for an electronic ticket (passenger receipt) – see example below, where Delta Airlines (DL) has a code share agreement with Air France (AF) to Paris, France. COMPLIANT NOT COMPLIANT US Flag Air Carriers - U.S. flag carriers and their codes are below to assist you. In order for a flight to be in compliance with the Fly America Act, the code of a U.S. flag air carrier must be noted as part of the flight number on the airline ticket, flight coupon (boarding pass*), or passenger receipt. Each airline has a two letter alpha code. From this list, you will be able to compare airline codes on the ticket with those on the list and thereby be able to ascertain whether or not the flight is on a US Flag air carrier.
