Pat was the wife of former AGCI President Jack Shelato, who survives. Also surviving are her son, Phil (Ginger) Shelato; daughter-in-law, Judy Shelato and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held today at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ALS Research, www.ALS.org or Carle Hospice, 3124 Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61832. MEMBERS DOING BUSINESS WITH MEMBERS IS GOOD BUSINESS Construction News Page 3 News from Executive Director Matt Davidson AGCI Member Elected to the Illinois House of Representatives: Kate Cloonen (D- Bonfield) was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives for the 79th District. Her company is a member of the AGC of Illinois and she is a former member of the Board of Directors. We are pleased to have a new member of the General Assembly who understands the importance of and the challenges facing the con- struction industry. Listing of the 2012 General Election Results: Attached please find a listing by District of each Senator and Representative. Please note the * identifies those legislators that are new. These Kate Cloonen legislators will be sworn in for the new General Assembly on January 9th. This list was provided courtesy of lobbyist Scott Marquardt. General Assembly adds session days for early January of 2013: The General Assembly calendar has been ex- tended to include January 3 – 8, 2013. With several members of the General Assembly not returning, there could be lots of action during this time. Changes in the Illinois Congressional Delegation: 8th Congressional District: Tammy Duckworth (D-Hoffman Estates) defeated incumbent Joe Walsh (R-North Bar- rington). Duckworth is a decorated veteran of the Iraq War earning the Purple Heart. She has served as the Direc- tor of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs and in the Veterans Administration under President Obama. Walsh served one term in the House and was one of the candidates elected in 2010 with the backing of the Tea Party. He has worked to raise early stage investment capital for new and small businesses and has taught at the high school and college levels. 10th Congressional District: Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield) defeated Congressman Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) to become the first Democrat to represent his district since 1975. He is the owner of Cadence Consulting Group, LLC and Lead Out Capital Partners, LLC. Dold was elected to Congress in 2010. He is the owner of Rose Pest Solu- tions, a pest control company. 11th Congressional District: Congresswoman Judy Biggert (R-Hinsdale) was defeated for re-election by former Congressman Bill Foster (D-Fox Valley area). Biggert has been employed as a legislator, lawyer, community leader, and a small business owner. She served several terms in the Illinois House of Representatives and the U.S. Con- gress. Foster has been a businessman and a scientist as Fermilab. 12th Congressional District: Bill Enyart (D-Belleville) defeated Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville) for the open seat. Enyart is a lawyer in Belleville and formerly was in charge of the Illinois National Guard. Plummer was a Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor in Illinois in 2010. He is involved in his family’s business, R.P. Lumber Company. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-Belleville) chose not to run for re-election. He is a veteran member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and has been a solid supporter of transportation. 13th Congressional District: Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville) defeated David Gill (D-Bloomington). John Hartman (I- Collinsville) was also a candidate and finished a distant third. Davis is a graduate of Milliken University with honors. He has served for many years as the Projects Director to Congressman John Shimkus (R-Collinsville). Gill is an emergency room physician. This seat is being vacated by Congressman Tim Johnson (R-Urbana) who chose not to seek re-election. Johnson is on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Bustos has been a reporter/editor with the Quad-City Times, an alderman in East Moline and a marketing executive with Iowa Health System. She is a graduate of Illinois College in Jacksonville and the daughter of Gene Callahan of Springfield. Callahan was a long-time aide to Alan Dixon and Paul Simon. He also served as a lobbyist for major league baseball. Schilling is involved with the family business, Saint Giuseppe's Heavenly Pizza, in Moline and de- feated incumbent Phil Hare in 2010. AGC Sequestration Webinar: As you may know, unless Congress acts after the election, a process of $109 billion in indiscriminate, across-the-board spending cuts—called sequestration—will occur on Jan. 2, 2013. If sequestration goes into effect, the possible impacts to federal construction contracts, grants and direct payment programs could be far reaching.
