Se presenta un conjunto de nuevos registros para Perú correspondientes a los géneros Blennidus Motschulsky, 1865 y Calleida Dejean, 1825. El estudio se realizó a partir de la revisión de ejemplares conservados en colecciones peruanas, la consulta de bibliografía especializada y la comunicación con especialistas europeos en la familia Carabidae. Las especies incluidas en el estudio fueron Blennidus foveatus Straneo, 1951, Blennidus peruvianus (Dejean, 1828) y Calleida migratoria Casale, 2002. Además de los nuevos registros, se incluyeron comentarios relativos a la distribución y biología de las tres especies estudiadas. Para facilitar el reconocimiento de las especies se incluyeron fotos: una vista dorsal del cuerpo (habitus) para las tres especies y, vistas dorsal y lateral de los aedeagi para las dos especies del género Blennidus. The fields at low altitudes have the potential to produce higher yields than those in the highlands. This study investigated the occurrence of insect pests and the natural enemies of quinoa in a traditional production zone, San Lorenzo (in the Andes), and in two new zones at lower altitudes, La Molina (on the coast) and Majes (in the “Maritime Yunga” ecoregion), by plant sampling and pitfall trapping. Our data indicated that the pest pressure in quinoa was higher at lower elevations than in the highlands. The major insect pest infesting quinoa at high densities in San Lorenzo was Eurysacca melanocampta; in La Molina, the major pests were E. melanocampta, Macrosiphum euphorbiae and Liriomyza huidobrensis; and in Majes, Frankliniella occidentalis was the most abundant pest. -

This field study investigated the impact of four insecticides (cypermethrin, imidacloprid, teflubenzuron and emamectin benzoate) on insect pests of quinoa and their side effects on the arthropod community at the coastal level of Peru, by analysing the species composition, species diversity and population density. The results demonstrated that Macrosiphum euphorbiae, Frankliniella occidentalis Cypermethrin, Imidacloprid, and Spoladea recurvalis were efficiently controlled by cypermethrin and imidacloprid; the latter Teflubenzuron and Emamectin compound also showed long-term effects on Nysius simulans. -

WILL' Research Associate,Section of InvertebrateZoology ABSTRACT New World ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in the abariform genus-group are classified into three genera, Pseudabarys Chaudoir, Neota/us new genus and Abaris Dejean. Species of the clade Neota/us + Abaris are revised. Based on the cladistic analysis of adult characteristics, a preferred hypothesis groups species of Abaris into clades that are designated as two subgenera and four species- groups: Abaris sensu stricto containing three clades designated as species-groups;A. strio/ata, A. aenea, and A. picipes-groups and subgenus Abaridius Chaudoir (type species Abaris taehypoides) comprised of the A. taehypoides-group and two species placed sedis mutabilis within the subgenus. Seventeen new species are described in the genus Abaris: A. napoensis, A. bie%r, A. nitida, A. nigra, from Ecuador; A. franiai, A. injiata, A. eonvexa, A. inaequa/oides, A. wardi, from Bolivia; A. im- punetata, A. nobilis, from Brazil; A. metal/iea from Venezuela; A. retiaria, from Colombia and Ve- nezuela; A. erwini from Peru and Bolivia; A. opaea, from Peru, Bolivia and Brazil; A. mina, from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay; and A. aquilonaria from Central America and Mexico. Abaris darlingtoni Straneo and A. aenea Dejean are synonymized, the latter is the senior, and hence valid name of the species. The genus Neota/us is described to include N. portai (Straneo); the species was originally included in Bothynoproetus Tschitscherine. -

AT LA MOLINA / LIMA / PERU Carmen Livia1,2, Guillermo Sánchez1,3 y Luis Cruces1,4 Resumen Con el propósito de determinar la composición, abundancia y diversidad de insectos de suelo en un campo agrícola de producción de maíz (5 ha), en el distrito de La Molina (Lima, Perú), se instalaron 12 trampas de caída, las cuales fueron evaluadas semanalmente durante aproximadamente 4 meses (marzo-junio). Las muestras se procesaron separando los individuos por morfotipos, registrando la cantidad y la fecha de la colecta. Finalmente, se identificaron los ejemplares en el Laboratorio del Museo de Entomología Klaus Raven Büller con la ayuda de claves de identificación y, en algunos casos, comparación con los especímenes del museo. Se registraron individuos de los órdenes Orthoptera (Fam. Acrididae y Gryllidae); Dermaptera (Fam. Anisolabididae); Coleoptera (Fam. Carabidae, Staphylinidae, Tenebrionidae, Scarabaeidae y Elateridae); e Hymenoptera (Fam. Formicidae). El orden más abundante fue Hymenoptera con el género Linepithema sp. (Fam. Formicidae). El orden Coleoptera registró el mayor número de morfoespecies identificadas, entre las cuales Blennidus peruvianus fue el más predominante. El análisis de diversidad mostró un alto valor del índice de dominancia de Simpson (0.91 ± 0.006), mientras que el valor del índice de Shannon fue intermedio (2.67 ± 0.05). -

Fragmenta entomologica, Roma, 43 (1): 19-34 (2011) TWO NEW BLENNIDUS (AGRAPHODERUS) SPECIES FROM PERU, WITH SYNONYMIC NOTES (Coleoptera, Carabidae) PIER MAURO GIACHINO (*) and GIANNI ALLEGRO (**) INTRODUCTION Thirty-nine Blennidus subgenus Agraphoderus (sensu Moret 2005) species are presently recorded from Peru (Straneo 1993; Allegro 2010; Allegro & Giachino 2011a, 2011b), most of them endemic to restricted areas of Andes at an altitude range of 3300-4800 m a.s.l. The study of the type material described by Tschitschérine (depos- ited at Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Pe- tersburg, Russia) and by Straneo (deposited in the Straneo Collection at Museo Civico di Storia Naturale, Milano, Italy and in the Mateu Collec- tion at Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali, Torino, Italy) allows us to get more information on the distribution and the systematics of this com- plex genus, sometimes pointing out the presence of undescribed species or the probable affinities of a few species which have been included in species-groups based on the distinctive structure of their male genitalia (Allegro & Giachino 2011a, 2011b). To this purpose, also the abundant material collected on the mountains of the Cordillera Blanca by one of the Authors (G. Allegro) and the material collected by M. Etonti (depos- ited in the Giachino Collection at Settore Fitosanitario Regionale, Re- gione Piemonte) are important information sources, as they include a high number of specimens from different geographic areas and many un- described species as well.
