YOUR O.A.T. ADVENTURE TRAVEL PLANNING GUIDE® The Baltic Capitals & St. Petersburg 2022 Small Groups: 8-16 travelers—guaranteed! (average of 13) Overseas Adventure Travel ® The Leader in Personalized Small Group Adventures on the Road Less Traveled 1 Dear Traveler, At last, the world is opening up again for curious travel lovers like you and me. And the O.A.T. Enhanced! The Baltic Capitals & St. Petersburg itinerary you’ve expressed interest in will be a wonderful way to resume the discoveries that bring us so much joy. You might soon be enjoying standout moments like these: What I love about the little town of Harmi, Estonia, is that it has a lot of heart. Its residents came together to save their local school, and now it’s a thriving hub for community events. Harmi is a new partner of our Grand Circle Foundation, and you’ll live a Day in the Life here, visiting the school and a family farm, and sharing a farm-to-table lunch with our hosts. I love the outdoors and I love art, so my walk in the woods with O.A.T. Trip Experience Leader Inese turned into something extraordinary when she led me along the path called the “Witches Hill” in Lithuania. It’s populated by 80 wooden sculptures of witches, faeries, and spirits that derive from old pagan beliefs. You’ll go there, too (and I bet you’ll be as surprised as I was to learn how prevalent those pagan practices still are.) I was also surprised—and saddened—to learn how terribly the Baltic people were persecuted during the Soviet era.

< ^ The Schreiber Times Vol. XXVIII Paul D. Schreiber High School Wednesday, September 30, 1987 ZANETTI TAKES CHARGE Board Names Guidance Head as Acting Principal by Dave Weintraub When Dr. Frank Banta, Schreiber's principal for eight years, departed at the end (rf the last school year for a different job, he left some large shoes to fill. The school board and Superintendent Dr. William Heebink set out on a search for a new principal over the summer. Many applicants were reviewed, but no one was picked. The board and Dr. Heebink decided to extend the search through the 1987-88 school year. To fill the void Dr. Banta had left, they asked John Zanetti, Chairman of the Guidance Department, to serve as acting principal. He accepted, and was given a ten-month contract, which began in September. Most people who know Mr. Zanetti know him as a soft- spoken and amiable man. He has been in the Port Washington school system for many years, and he had humble beginnings. He started work at Salem School as a physical education teacher in 1958. He stayed there for six years and during that time in- troduced wrestling and lacrosse to the high school. He became the first coach of those teams. After Salem, he taught physical educa- tion at Schreiber for two years. He became a guidance counselor in 1967. He was appointed guidance chairman in 1980. He has now moved to the top of Schreiber's administrative lad- der. Has his transition been smooth? "I have an ulcer," he jokes. "Actually, I think I've ad- justed better than I thought I would.

  • Manual Chapter - Cuisine (5 January 1993) H
•· I Manual Chapter - Cuisine (5 January 1993) H. cuisine cuisine is used to describe the culinary derivation of a food. H.1 Definition cuisine is characterized by dietary staples and foods typically consumed; specific ingredients in mixed dishes; types of fats, oils, seasonings, and sauces used; food preparation techniques and cooking methods; and dietary patterns. The culinary characteristics of population groups have developed and continue to develop over time. Cuisines have traditional names based primarily on geographic origin. A few cuisine names reflect ethnicity or other factors. Cuisines with several or multiple influences are listed in the hierarchy according to their major influence. Descriptors from this factor should be used primarily for prepared food products (e.g., entrees, desserts, cheeses, breads, sausages, and wines). Descriptors for cuisine should only be used if the cuisine can be easily determined from external evidence such as: the food name; a cuisine indication on a food label; the culinary identification of a restaurant, recipe, or cookbook; or the country of origin of the food, unless another cuisine is indicated. The indexer is not required to make a judgement about cuisine, nor is the indexer required to examine a food to determine its cuisine. Note that some food names have geographic descriptors that do not always identify a cuisine (e.g., Swiss cheese, Brussels sprouts). If in doubt, refer to the foods already indexed to determine whether the food name indicates a specific cuisine. The cuisine of foods may be important in establishing relationships of diet to health and disease. Cuisine provides information about a food from a cultural viewpoint and may assist in assist in more clearly identifying a food.
