  • Meet a Scientologist—A Simple, Honest, Happy Life
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Karin Pouw (323) 960-3500 [email protected] Meet a Scientologist—A Simply Happy Life In her “Meet a Scientologist” video on Scientology.org, Serena Zoccatelli and her family are happy, relaxed and at ease. Life wasn’t always that way. Serena Zoccatelli used to find her name ironic—she was anything but serene. “Confusion, doubts, uncertainty.” That was how Zoccatelli characterized her life—the way it used to be. But that was before her husband Andrea introduced her to Scientology in 1999. “Scientology helped me change my entire approach, and life became so simple. Where it was all very difficult and complex before, now it is just a pleasure,” she says. “I enjoy my life.” Since adolescence, Zoccatelli had been agonizing over hundreds of unanswered questions. She would look and ask, but the solutions people offered didn’t prove out in life. “They only left emptiness and disappointment,” she says. “I felt hampered by an inability to create meaningful relationships. And I wanted a clean break with my past.” To Zoccatelli’s surprise, the first Scientology class she took, The Anatomy of the Human Mind Course, answered many of her nagging questions. And life has continued getting better and more understandable ever since. She found that Scientology stresses communication skills, and the better she learned to communicate, the better she did as a parent, a wife, at work—in every aspect of her life. “Scientology has definitely helped me with my marriage,” says Zoccatelli. “Andrea and I can talk to each other about anything.” She says the common-sense rules of organization she has learned in Scientology are useful in her work in the fashion industry, as is her aesthetic sense, which Scientology training has helped her hone.

  • Basi Scientifiche Per La Definizione Di Linee-Guida in Ambito Clinico Per I Tumori Dell’Età Pediatrica

The publication of this independent report into the scientific basis for the past, current and future role of non-human primates in research is both a necessary and timely contribution to the debate. We emphasise that members of the working group have worked independently of the four sponsoring organisations. Our organisations did not provide input into the report’s content, conclusions or recommendations.

  • The Role of Polyadenylation in the Induction of Inflammatory Genes
The role of polyadenylation in the induction of inflammatory genes Raj Gandhi BSc & ARCS Thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy September 2016 Declaration Except where acknowledged in the text, I declare that this thesis is my own work and is based on research that was undertaken by me in the School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Science, The University of Nottingham. i Acknowledgements First and foremost, I give thanks to my primary supervisor Dr. Cornelia de Moor. She supported me at every step, always made time for me whenever I needed it, and was sympathetic during times of difficulty. I feel very, very fortunate to have been her student. I would also like to thank Dr. Catherine Jopling for her advice and Dr. Graeme Thorn for being so patient and giving me so much help in understanding the bioinformatics parts of my project. I am grateful to Dr. Anna Piccinini and Dr. Sadaf Ashraf for filling in huge gaps in my knowledge about inflammation and osteoarthritis, and to Dr. Sunir Malla for help with the TAIL-seq work. I thank Dr. Richa Singhania and Kathryn Williams for proofreading. Dr. Hannah Parker was my “big sister” in the lab from my first day, and I am very grateful for all her help and for her friendship. My project was made all the more enjoyable/bearable by the members of the Gene Regulation and RNA Biology group, especially Jialiang Lin, Kathryn Williams, Dr. Richa Singhania, Aimée Parsons, Dan Smalley, and Hibah Al-Masmoum. Barbara Rampersad was a wonderful technician. Mike Thomas, James Williamson, Will Hawley, Tom Upton, and Jamie Ware were some of the best of friends I could have hoped to make in Nottingham.

His research during this time and later work done in his group has made a major contri- bution to our understanding of T-cell-mediated immunity against viral infections. Initially he worked on the immune response to influenza, but latterly studying the T cell re- sponse against HIV has been a major focus, and his group has designed and tested two candidate HIV vaccines in phase I clinical trials. Based through most of his research career in Oxford, he was knighted in 2008 for services to medical sciences, and has just completed 12 years as Director of the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine. In this 30th year since the discovery of HIV as the cause of AIDS, we asked Sir Andrew to give us his per- sonal perspective on the progress towards a vaccine. ALEKSEI ALEKSEEVICH ABRIKOSOV June 25, 1928–March 29, 2017 Elected to the NAS, 2000 Shortly after the 2003 announcement that Aleksei Abrikosov had won the Nobel Prize in Physics, a number of colleagues took Alex to lunch at a nearby Italian restau- rant. During lunch, one of the Russian visitors exclaimed that Alex should get a second Nobel Prize, this time in Literature for his famous “AGD” book with Lev Gor’kov and Igor Dzyaloshinskii (Methods of Quantum Field Theory in Statistical Physics.) Somewhat taken aback, I looked closely at this individual and realized that he was deadly serious. Although I could imagine the reaction of the Nobel Literature committee to such a book (for a lay person, perhaps analogous to trying to read Finnegan’s Wake), I had to admit that my own copy of this book is quite dog-eared, having been put to good use over the By M. R. Norman years. In fact, you know you have made it in physics when your book gets a Dover edition. One of the most charming pictures I ever saw was a rare drawing in color that Alexei Tsvelik did (commissioned by Andrei Varlamov for Alex’s 50th birthday) that was proudly displayed in Alex’s home in Lemont, IL. It showed Alex with his fingers raised in a curled fashion as in the habit of medieval Popes.
