Travel Directions TRAVEL DIRECTIONS Goucher College is located at 1021 Dulaney Valley Road in Towson, Maryland, about eight miles north of Baltimore. Goucher has partnered with several local hotels to be used for guests of the college; a list of these can be found at https://www.goucher.edu/become/visit/hotel-recommendations. FROM NEW YORK and POINTS NORTH: Take I-95 south to the Baltimore Beltway (695) west towards Towson Take 695 to Exit 27A (Dulaney Valley Road, south) Once you're off the overpass and on Dulaney Valley Road, get into the left lane and make a left at the first light; this is the main entrance to Goucher College. Then see “Entering Campus” directions below. FROM WASHINGTON and POINTS SOUTH: Take I-95 north to the Baltimore Beltway (695) north towards Towson Take 695 to Exit 27A (Dulaney Valley Road, south) Once you're off the overpass and on Dulaney Valley Road, get into the left lane and make a left at the first light; this is the main entrance to Goucher College. Then see “Entering Campus” directions below. Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI) AIRPORT: The campus is approximately 45 minutes from BWI Airport. Transportation options: The least expensive option is to take the Light Rail, which has its station platform just outside an entrance to the International terminal. Purchase a ticket before boarding Light Rail. Tickets are not available onboard. The fare to the Lutherville Station (the closest to Goucher College) is $1.90, and the trip takes around 1 hour. You can download fare and schedule information here: http://mta.maryland.gov/light-rail Note on the schedule that not every departure from BWI stops at the Lutherville station. Once at Lutherville, you can take a cab/Uber/Lyft to Goucher; an Uber should cost around $10. You can also catch the LocalLink bus #93 which will take you a few blocks from campus (allow 30 min for travel time). Getting off the bus at the Fairmount Ave/Towsongate Drive stop, walk up Towsongate Drive for one block (away from the mall). Turn left on Southerly, then take the next right. In about a block you will be on Goucher's campus near the guard's gatehouse. City buses cost approx. $1.90 (exact change). Shuttle service is available to some hotels listed in the lodging section. Please contact the hotel directly for more information. If renting a car, take I-95 North. Take the left exit to I-695 North towards Towson. Then take exit 27A (Dulaney Valley Road, south). Once on Dulaney Valley Road, get into the left lane and make a left at the first light; this is the main entrance to Goucher College. SuperShuttle (supershuttle.com). At BWI airport, go to the lower level and follow signs to the SuperShuttle desk. Since this is a shared ride situation, please allow 3-4 hours to arrive at your destination (i.e., your interview OR your return flight). An Uber from the airport to the Hoffberger Science building takes approximately 45 minutes and costs around $50, while a cab could be $65.00+. PENNSYLVANIA STATION (TRAIN) All passenger trains arrive at Pennsylvania Station in downtown Baltimore. Goucher is approximately 25 minutes by Uber from the station. Approximate cost is $22. There are also two buses that pick up at Penn Station's west entrance (the Charles Street side). You can take the GR (green) CityLink bus or the 51 LocalLink bus (allow 45 min. minimum for travel time). The end of both routes is a few blocks from campus. Getting off the bus at the Fairmount Ave/Towsongate Drive stop, walk up Towsongate Drive for one block (away from the mall). Turn left on Southerly, then take the next right. In about a block you will be on Goucher's campus near the guard's gatehouse. City buses cost approx. $1.90 (exact change). ENTERING CAMPUS: Vehicles should enter campus from our main entrance on Dulaney Valley Road. If you're walking from the bus stop, you will enter from a side road near the guard's gatehouse. Your goal is the Dorsey Center parking lot, which you can see ahead and to your left as you proceed past the gatehouse. Take the first left to the Dorsey parking lot. From the far end of the parking lot, look to your left and you will see the back of Hoffberger Science Building (#12 on Goucher campus map). Under the small observatory you will see a door labeled Hoffberger Science (above the door). The main PBPM Office is located on the first floor in Room 167 (note that this is one floor up from the Ground Floor entering from the parking lot). Dorsey Center is the large administration building to the right of Hoffberger (#4 on Goucher campus map). The Athenaeum is #2 on the campus map.     What Are Connecticut College Alumni Doing Five Years after Graduation? A Study of the Class of 2013 Wesley M. Morris ’20 and John D. Nugent Office of Institutional Research and Planning July 2018 SUMMARY We found reliable information about the employment and graduate school activities of about 87% of the Class of 2013. Five years after graduating from Connecticut College, about 96% of those for whom we found information were employed, in graduate school, or recent graduates of a degree program. Our students follow a variety of post-undergraduate pathways into jobs, fellowships, internships, degree programs, and non-degree coursework, and nearly half of the Class of 2013 has obtained some form of additional education. OVERVIEW Colleges and universities are now routinely expected to collect and report “outcomes” data on their graduates, primarily on employment, salaries, and graduate and professional school attendance.1 Collecting accurate data on a large portion of a graduated class is tricky, and there is currently no consensus on the best time or method for collecting the data. The National Association of Colleges and Employers has developed a voluntary “first destination” survey that they suggest administering six months following graduation,2 although that timeframe seems primarily aimed at answering the question of how many college graduates quickly secure employment and thus the ability to begin paying off student loans. While important, this is not the only outcome we should be interested in, particularly as an institution offering a liberal arts education, the fruits of which may take years to fully appear. Thus, a longer-term view that looks at graduates’ activities one or more years after graduation has been the approach taken by Connecticut College in our one-year-out and five-year-out studies.
