PROJECT REQUEST This is a contract for vault toilet pumping and waste disposal services at Mitchell State Park and various State Forest Campground facilities and Boating Access Sites located in Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Missaukee and Wexford counties. II. ENTIRE AGREEMENT This Contract consists of the State’s Terms and Conditions. The State’s Terms and Conditions consist of the Work Statement and the General Contract Provisions. This Contract constitutes the complete and exclusive agreement and understanding of the parties as it relates to this transaction. This Contract supersedes all proposals, or other prior agreements, and all other communications between the parties relating to this transaction. If there is a conflict between the State’s Terms and Conditions and the Contractor’s Proposal, the State’s Terms and Conditions shall take precedence. STATEMENT OF WORK III. INTRODUCTION This section is designed to provide the Contractor with information on requirements associated with this Contract. Quantities specified are estimates based on prior purchases, and the State is not obligated to purchase in these or any other quantities. The Contractor shall be required to furnish all such services as may be ordered during the contract term. IV. SCOPE OF WORK The Contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and services necessary to perform the vault pumping services as described in the specifications detailed herein. The required objectives are to perform vault pumping services in an approved and workmanlike manner without hindrance or delay and to maintain the facility(s) in such a manner that provides a clean, healthy and safe environment for occupants and visitors of state owned facilities. V. SERVICE SPECIFICATIONS The Contractor shall provide vault pumping services for Mitchell State Park located at 6093 E M-115, Cadillac MI 49601. Any service no longer required may be canceled from this Contract. 7 The Contractor must contact the Contract Administrator to arrange schedules and to receive necessary orientation prior to the start of any contracted service. The Department of Natural Resources operates Mitchell State Park. Vault toilet facilities are located at these sites for use by campers and visitors. Vaults must be pumped as part of regular maintenance and to prevent overflow. Effluent pumped from vaults must be disposed of in a manner that complies with federal and state laws. Still waiting on word of federal funds and if they will be allotted for shovel ready projects. Numbers are trending upwards in all categories and because of the heavy visitation and staffing issues, challenges remain. He has talked to five other state park systems who are having the same problem with hiring.

  • Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund (MNRTF) Grants for 5 Active Or Completed Projects
    The COUNTY ALCONA MICHIGAN NATURAL RESOURCES TRUST FUND was established under the Kammer Recreational Land Trust Fund Act of 1976 to provide a permanent funding source for the public acquisition of land for resource protection and public outdoor recreation. Funding is provided by revenue derived from royalties on the sale and lease of state-owned oil, gas and mineral rights. This landmark piece of legislation came to fruition thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Michigan Oil and Gas Association, Michigan United Conservation Clubs and state legislators on behalf of all Michigan citizens. The MNRTF has contributed immeasurably to protecting our state’s natural beauty and helped paved the way for wise and prudent development of our state’s abundant energy resources. To date, the MNRTF has awarded over $1.1 billion in grants to Michigan’s state and local parks, waterways, trails and nature preserves throughout all 83 counties. Of this total, $245 million has been invested in trails. In excess of 1,000 public parks have been acquired and / or developed. Other projects funded include ball fields, tennis courts, trailheads, restrooms and other amenities, for a total of just under 2,500 MNRTF-assisted projects since 1976. The Karner blue butterfly is a very small butterfly, around the size of a nickel, and considered threatened in Michigan. Male Karners are light blue, while females are dark blue with orange crescents on their hind wings. They can only survive where lupine plants grow because that’s the only food eaten by the caterpillars that turn into Karner blue butterflies. This butterfly can be found in only ten Michigan counties and four of them are in the Muskegon River Watershed: Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon and Newaygo Counties. Directions: Help the osprey find its nest by tracing along an unbroken line. The osprey is a large raptor (bird of prey) that has a black back and wings, and a white breast and belly. They have talons (claws) to grab fish from the water. They are considered a threatened species in Michigan. They fly south in the fall and arrive back in Michigan around April. Osprey build their nests in tall trees or manmade structures. For the last few years, ospreys have nested on a 100-foot light pole at Ferris State University.     The Watersheds of Northeast Michigan What is a Watershed? Did you know that everywhere you are, you’re within a watershed? A watershed is an area of land that contains a common set of streams, rivers and lakes that all drain into a larger waterbody. Watershed boundaries follow natural features of the landscape, such as a ridgeline or a height-of-land (see diagram at right). Watersheds include both the water features within the area, as well as the land surrounding those water bodies. As a result of the connected nature of a watershed, all activities on the land and water can affect the condition of the larger watershed. A watershed can be divided into progressively smaller watersheds, which are often referred to as subswatersheds. For example, the Klacking Creek Watershed is one of many subwatersheds that can be identified within the larger Rifle River Watershed. Likewise, the Rifle River Watershed itself is part of the larger Lake Huron Watershed.
