Notice of Race ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Classes National Championships 2016 DELTA Marina Kallithea - Faliron Olympic Complex 18-27 April 2016 NOTICE OF RACE 1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY Hellenic Sailing Federation, Municipality of Kallithea 2. RULES The event will be governed by : o The Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016 (ISAF). o No National Authority prescriptions will apply for the Athens Eurolymp Events o The Class rules (unless otherwise modified by this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions). o The HSF 2016 racing programme concerning National Championships. o This Notice of Race. o The Sailing Instructions. o All competitors will be required to wear an adequate personal floatation device at all times while afloat, except briefly while changing or adjusting clothing or personal equipment. o If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 3. ADVERTISING The ISAF Advertising Regulation 20 shall apply. Boats may be required to display a bow number and advertisement of the event sponsor on either side on the forward 25% of the hull. Sailboards may be required to display such number and advertising on either side of the sail above the wishbone. Boats authorized to have advertising must present the permission of their National Authority. 4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIES 4.1 This regatta is open to the following events chosen for the 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition and the 2016 Paralympic Sailing Competition: Men’s Events Women’s Events Mixed Events Single Person Dinghy: Laser Single Person Dinghy: Laser Radial Multihull: Nacra 17 Two Person Dinghy: 470 Two Person Dinghy: 470 Two Person Skiff: 49er Two Person Skiff: 49er FX Paralympic Events Windsurfing: RS:X Windsurfing: RS:X Single Person: 2.4mR Heavyweight Dinghy: Finn 4.2 This regatta is also open to the following events: 420, Laser 4.7, Techno293, Optimist and Hansa 4.3 Greek competitors shall be in compliance with the HSF regulations (valid EIO card). This card must be submitted at Registration. Foreign competitors shall be in compliance with their respective national regulations. 4.4 Pre-entries shall be made by email ([email protected]) or fax (+30 210 9404829) not later than April 15th, 2016. 4.5 For Olympic Classes, Paralympic Classes, International 420 class and Hansa, the Athens Eurolymp Week 2016 will also count as National Championships. 4.6 For the Eurolymp, a minimum of six (6) boats per event is required, in order to be considered valid 4.7 For the National Championships, a minimum of six (6) boats per event is required, except the 49er - 49er FX - RS:X Women - 470 Women – Nacra 17 and the Paralympic class 2.4mR, where a minimum of three (3) boats is required per event. 4.8 For the Single Person 2.4mR participation will be open to competitors with no classification. Classes with less than 10 competitors will continue fleet racing. Competitors may be required to wear bibs (which will be provided by Organizing Authority). In alteration of their Class Rules, the national letters and boat numbers on the sails shall apply for all classes according to RRS G1.1. 9 EQUIPMENT INSPECTION A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions. On the water, a boat can be instructed by a race committee Equipment Inspector/Measurer to proceed immediately to a designated area for inspection. 10 SCORING SYSTEM The Low - Point Scoring System will apply. 11 INTERNATIONAL JURY 11.1. For the Olympic and Paralympic classes events, an international jury constituted in compliance with Appendix N, will be appointed with the approval of the Hellenic Sailing Federation in accordance with RRS 91(b). Its decisions will be final, as detailed in RRS 70.5. 11.2 For the Optimist, Laser 4.7, Techno293 and 420 events a Protest committee will be appointed. Its decisions will be final according to the National Prescription no 8. 12 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authority and all parties involved in the regatta organization will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with the regatta or the venue that may occur to any person or property whether ashore or at sea as a consequence of the participation of any boat prior to, during, or after the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK. The Organizing Authority disclaims any and all such liability. 13 INSURANCE Competitors will participate to the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK entirely at their own risk. The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for personal or material damage, injury or death, sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during or after the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK. The Organizing Authority disclaims any and all such liability. For each competing yacht at least a valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of not less than 540.000 Euros shall be in existence for the entire duration of the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK. It shall be the sole responsibility of the competitor to have such insurance cover and provide written proof thereof to the Organizing Authority upon request. Third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 540.000 Euros, The original document issued by the insurance company must be presented at the registration desk. 14 RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS A competitor participating to the ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK, automatically grants to the Organizing Authority and the sponsors of ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her and his/hers activities during the period of the competition for the said ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said ATHENS EUROLYMP WEEK without compensation. 15 SUPPORT BOATS Support/coach boats must register the same time as the racing boats at the Race Office and shall fly their national flag at all times whilst on water. All support boats must present at the registration desk a third party liability insurance with the minimum cover of 540.000 Euros, original insurance-policy and motorboat driving license recognized by a State authority. 16 PRICE GIVING CEREMONIES Price giving ceremony will take place at the Hellenic Sailing Federation HQ in Port Delta Falirou a.

    Meet the Competitors: Annapolis YC Double-handed Distance Race R.J. Cooper & Courtney Cooper Cumberland are a brother and sister team from Oxford, Maryland and Panama City, Florida. They have sailed together throughout their youth as well as while on the Sailing Team for the University of Florida. The pair has teamed up for a bid to represent the United States and win gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. They will be sailing Tenacious owned by AYC member Carl Gitchell. Sail #501 Erik Haaland and Andrew Waters will be sailing the new Italia Yachts 9.98 sport boat named Vichingio (Viking). Erik Haaland is the Sales Director for Italia Yachts USA at David Walters Yachts. He has sailed his entire life and currently races on performance sport boats including the Farr 30, Melges 32 and J70. Andrew Waters is a Sail and Service Consultant at Quantum Sails in Annapolis. His professional sailing career began in South Africa and later the Caribbean and includes numerous wins in large regattas. Sail #17261 Ethan Johnson and Cat Chimney have sailing experience in dinghies, foiling skiffs, offshore racers and mini-Maxis. Ethan, a Southern Maryland native now living in NY is excited to be racing in home waters. Cat was born on Long Island, NY but spent time in Auckland, New Zealand. She has sailed with Olympians, America’s Cup sailors and Volvo Ocean Race sailors. Cat is Technical Specialist and Rigger at the prestigious Oakcliff Sailing where Ethan also works as the Training Program Director. Earlier this year Cat and Ethan teamed up to win the Oakcliff Double-handed Melges 24 Distance Race.

It was then staged for each edition of the Games with the exception of those in St Louis in 1904. Women competed in the mixed sailing events as of 1900. Since the Games of the XXIV Olympiad in Seoul in 1988, some events have been reserved only for them. KEY STAGES Entry 1894: At the Paris Congress held in June, the desire was expressed for nautical sports (rowing, sailing and swimming) to be on the Olympic programme.
