MilitarizedMilitarized Update: border • Misseryia (Awlad Umran) crossed into Border Abiemnom County from Abyei and SKS, Pariang presently at Manjoga Payam along County Aweragor river. • Initially nomads came without consultation. • 4 Jan 2013, meeting between nomads and Abiemnom county authorities, agreed on Abiemnhom County pertinent issues. • Another meeting was due on 11 Jan, cancelled due to the Misseryia traders Rubkona County killing on 9 Jan in the border between Mayom and Abiemnom County. • Misseryias asked for another schedule. • Misseryia, Baggara and Fellata are at RUBKONA border at Pariang County. • Misseryia traders are still trading in Mayom County (2-year agreement) Concerns: • Possible revenge by Misseryia, likely in Mayom County reverse migration. • In the border with Pariang County, some REFUGEES – 59,674 (as of 13 Jan 2013) nomads are with military uniform and with RETURNEES - 287,855 (Feb 2007- Dec 2012) heavy caliber weapons. • Nomads encroaching cultivated land of5 locals.
