Arzhanova 145 Dear Colleagues, In 2017, the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums is celebrating its 23-th anniversary, which is an important event for the EARAZA membership that now includes 93 zoological institutions. EARAZA Council offers to your attention the 36d volume of the Informational Issue on the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums, which consists of two parts. This publication has been prepared by the staff of the EARAZA Executive Office and the staff of the Scientific-Methodological Department of the Moscow Zoo based on the results of the analysis of data sent in by EARAZA member zoos. This publication provides information about 122 zoological institutions and their animal collections. A separate section is dedicated to significant zoo events and other activities that were held at the zoos, aquariums, breeding stations and other zoological organizations in the past year. The publication presents the report on the EARAZA activities that were carried out in 2016, as well as the latest data on the zoological collections in 18 countries including those in CIS states, some Baltic countries, Denmark, Israel, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Germany. To make the publication timely and useful, the member zoos are requested to keep to the deadline for submission of the materials to the EARAZA Information and Methodical Centre. We would like to remind you that the information on your zoological institution, animal inventories in taxonomic order (according to the taxonomy recognized by EARAZA and including scientific names), and data on animal breeding as of the 1st of January of the current year, should be sent before the 1st of February. Also, please try to observe the deadline when sending logotypes and guidebooks of your zoo for the general information section, as well as the notes on the zoo news and articles on education and methodical activities. To our regret, some zoos do not provide us with necessary information in a good time, which was the reason for the editorial board to make a decision on 146 the new rules of editorial procedure; required information provided after the deadline will not be included in the next Informational Issue. We hope that timely data submission and publication of the Informational Issue and its Appendices reflect your professional interests and that our fruitful cooperation will be successfully continued into the future. Please note that this volume, as well as a number of previous volumes of the Informational Issue can be found on the EARAZA website: http://earaza.ru. The Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums would like to express a deep gratitude to the Moscow Zoo and especially to its General Director Svetlana V. Akulova for her support and assistance with publication of this Informational Issue.
