Peddie Girlv Crew Race Results May 14-15, 2021 Vs. Stotesbury
Peddie Girls' Crew Race Results May 14-15, 2021 vs. Stotesbury Cup Regatta Conditions: Sunny and warm (low 70’s) for both days of racing with virtually no current (1900 cu.ft./sec Fri, 1800 cu.ft/sec Sat). Light tailwind for Friday’s and Saturday morning’s races. 6 mph SW headwind for Saturday afternoon’s finals. Line-ups: Senior 4+ Junior 4+ C Rhea Bakshi C Nikki Saffar 4 Aisling Creed 4 Jasmine Zhao 3 Clara Middleton 3 Grace Edelstein 2 Olivia Testa 2 Madinah Drinkard B Aylin Karagozoglu B Mimi Brick Comments: Without a doubt, this has been a challenging year. I could not have been more proud of the efforts the girls put in this weekend at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in Philadelphia. Due to Covid restrictions on public gatherings in the city, only the finalists from the 2019 regatta were invited initially plus some petitioned crews as space allowed. Normally the largest high school regatta in the country, the events in which we competed had barely half the entries we normally see. In spite of the smaller field size, the quality was as high as ever, and the girls rose to the occasion. AP exam conflicts and Stotesbury rules precluding seniors from rowing in a junior event caused us to reconfigure our 2nd four for the Junior Four event. Comprised this week entirely of novices from the fall of 2019 and one new novice from this spring, the girls did a great job finishing 11th in their time trial in this very competitive category. In spite of a valiant effort and improved performance in the semis, our Junior crew came up short in qualifying for the finals. -
