Live streaming Boat Parent Interest Form https://forms.gle/oSvWUQ7zazA6ghEU7 WMIRAs – Sun., May 9, 7 AM -3 PM • Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic Rowing Association - Local MD/DC Championship – public and private schools • Who’s racing: • Boys: 1V8+, 1V4+, 2V4+, N4+, N8+, F8+ • Girls: 1V8+, 2V8+, 3V8+, 4V8+, N8+ • Boat specifics details will be communicated by the coaches to the rowers (arrival time, departure time, trailer unloading etc). WMIRAs – continued • Location: Sandy Spring Park, Occoquan VA (45 min. drive) • Transportation: Parents/carpools. On-site parking for athletes only; parents must drop-off and return later to pick- up. • Volunteer Needs: 6 total (3 stakeboat, 3 parking) – FILLED! • No Spectators but live streaming is planned • Amenities: Rowers must bring all food and water; pack-in and -out trash. Port-a-potties are available. • Costs: $0. All paid out of operating budget WMIRA Q&A Stotesbury – May 14 & 15 • The Stotesbury Cup Regatta, sponsored by the Schuylkill Navy, is the world's oldest and one of the largest high school rowing competitions. Competing crews come from schools all over North America, though most hail from the Northeastern and Mid- Atlantic United States. • Who’s racing: • Boys: Jr8+, LV4+, F8+ • Girls: 1V8+, 2V8+, Jr8+, F8+ Stotesbury – May 14 & 15 • Location: along the Schuylkill River near Boathouse Row in Philadelphia • May 14 – Time Trials 11:30 – 5:30 • May 15 – Semis and Finals 8:40 – 5:50 • Transportation: a 15-person passenger van for each 8+. • Volunteer Needs: Boat Parent driver for each 8+. • No Spectators, live streaming guaranteed. • Amenities: Port-a-potties are available. There may be ways to order boxed lunches delivered to the race site – TBD. Plan to bringing all food and water. • Costs: Van + Gas + Misc. = $120 - $150 **The Boys Lightweight 4 will be going up on May 13 for weigh-in. Stotesbury – Boat Parent/Driver • Pick up van at Enterprise Rental in Silver Spring between 2 -4:30 on Thursday, May 13. • Pick up athletes in front of Wilson HS on Friday, May 14 at time designated by Coach. • Drive up and back same day.^ • Rinse and repeat on Saturday, May 15 for boats that make the finals. • Return van Sunday before 2 PM. If your boat doesn’t race on Saturday, you must return the van before 2 PM on Saturday. ^Optional: Arrange for your boat to stay in hotel on May 14. Stotesbury Q&A SRAA – May 28 & 29 • Scholastic Rowing Association of America – The National Championship for school-based teams from all over the US and some Canadian crew. Rotates location. Our boys are the reigning V8+ Champions! • Who’s going (Varsity only) • Boys: V8+, V4+, 4x • Girls: V4+ or a V8+ (TBD) SRAA – May 28 & 29 • Location: Same as Stotesbury • Transportation/Volunteers: Parents/carpools by boat. No vans. Like Stotes, up and back on the 28th and 29th depending on when athletes race. • Amenities: Port-a-potties are available. Plan to bringing all food and water. • Costs: Gas for cars paid by non-driving athletes. Possible food costs if order on site. SRAA Q&A Youth Nationals - June 9-13 • USRowing’s high school-aged National Championship. Clubs (teams that pull from multiple schools) can compete. Wilson attended for the first time in 2019 and placed 4th in the Lightweight 4. • Who’s going: • Boys: 4x, 4-, U174+, and possibly a 4+ • Girls: V4+ or a V8+ (TBD) Youth Nationals - June 9-13 • Location: Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota, FL • This is a park built specifically to host rowing events • Transportation: Fly to TPA; SUVs rented locally. • We already have Boat Parents • Accommodation: Boys: 1 Airbnb per 4-person boat; Girls - staying with Radack relatives/friends • Food: organized onsite by Parent Volunteers (with athlete/coach help!). Youth Nationals - June 9-13 •We will have a more detailed meeting for competitors and parents to meet boat parents, etc. •Costs: <= $1,000 Youth Nats Q&A.
