The Sentinel 2002 Tuesday, January 2, 2002 Christy A. Stout Jan. 30, 1956 – Dec. 30, 2001 Christy Ann STOUT, 45, 404 N. Johnson St., Akron, died at 5:22 a.m. Sunday at Woodlawn Hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Muncie to William C. and Margaret HARMON STOUT, she came to the Fulton County area in 1976 from Kokomo. Miss Stout worked at Robertson Transformer, Roch-ester, for 15 years. A 1974 Taylor High School, Kokomo, graduate, she was an accounting student at Ivy Tech State College, Kokomo. Survivors include her companion, Allen L. WEBB, at home; her parents, William C. and Margaret STOUT, Rochester; two sisters, Cathy CRAWFORD and husband Earl, Teresa “T.K” KITTS and husband Gene, all of Cape Coral, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Preceding in death was one brother, William C. STOUT III, on April 28, 2000. Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. Harry KRANTZ officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour prior to services. Joseph Kuchel April 23, 1920 – Dec. 30, 2001 Joseph KUCHEL, 81, formerly of Argos, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday at Fountainview Terrace Nursing Home, LaPorte. Born in Chicago, Ill. to Peter and Johanne MILLER KUCHEL, he married Esther MITCHEL MATHENY June 26, 1958 in Bourbon. She died Dec. 6, 2000. Mr. Kuchel was a farmer and worked at Elkhart Coach Co., Bourbon. He was an Argos resident most of his life, coming from the Mill Pond area. He was a member of American Legion Post 424, Bourbon, and Eagles Lodge 852, Rochester. Survivors include two daughters; two sons; one stepdaughter, Freda WARREN and husband William, Fontana, Calif.; three stepsons, Fred J. MATHENY, Don MATHENY and wife Maxine, all of Rochester, Russell MATHENY and wife Deloris, Lakeside, Calif.; one brother, Albert KUCHEL, Plymouth. Preceding in death with his wife were his parents. Services are at 2 p.m. today at Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, with Rev. Gerald ZOOK officiating. Burial will be at Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Dr. Milton E. Shaw Dec. 2, 1925 – Dec. 29, 2001 Dr. Milton E. SHAW, 76, Lexington, Ky., died Saturday in Lexington. Born in Miami County to Bernard O. and Mabel DAWALD SHAW, he married Martha Lou MADEFORD. She survives. Dr. Shaw was professor of business administration and management at Iowa Wesleyan College, later joining Mason and Hanger-Silas Mason Co., Inc. at its Iowa Ammunition Plant, where he became assistant chief accountant. He then became fiscal manager of its Pantex Plant, Amarillo, Texas. In 1964, he was named assistant corporate secretary and moved to Lexington. He retired after 41 years and was senior vice-president and executive director. He received a bachelor of science degree in business and social studies from Manchester College and a master’s degree and doctorate from Indiana Univer-sity. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, was an officer and member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Delta Pi Epsilon professional fraternities. He was listed in Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry. Surviving with his wife, at home, are one daughter, Valerie E. SHAW BROWN and husband Henry and two grandsons, Christopher E. and Jonathon E. BROWN, all of Portland, Ore. Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Lexington, Ky., with Rev. Valerie JOHNSON officiating. Burial will be at Lexington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Manchester College, 604 E. College St., North Manchester, IN 46962, or St. Luke United Methodist Church, 2351 Alumni Dr., Lexington, KY 40517-4102. Wilbur V. Hunt Nov. 13, 1910 – Dec. 24, 2001 Wilbur Vyvyan HUNT, 91, formerly of Peru and Denver, died Dec. 24 at his South Bend residence. Born in Acton, Mass. to Roy Wilbur and Lillian FOOKES HUNT, he married Elizabeth KNOWLES in 1939. He married Janet ROGER REINEKE, Peru. She died in 1996. Elizabeth died in 1995. Mr. Hunt was an inventor, artist, writer and businessman. He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He invented Poultrocutor, a device to aid farmers to kill chickens and remove their feathers. He worked on a Terrameter, an early global location instrument. He was a sculptor of marble, clay and stone and a sketch artist and portrait painter. He worked on a statement of his personal faith, “...As it is in Heaven,” for over 30 years. Mr. Hunt came to Peru in 1959 as manager of the American Stationary Co. He retired, moving to Denver, where he and his wife Janet owned and operated Denver Hardware Store. He built Vyvyan Castle, Denver, over 15 years. Survivors include four children, Diana BORSE, Texas, Marcia NILSSON, California, Terry FONSECA, Georgia, Craig HUNT, Vermont; four stepchildren, Becky VENICE, Oregon, Jan Richard REINEKE, South Bend, Nancy TUBERTY, Tennessee, Peggy BLAUVELT, South Bend; 32 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. Preceding in death with his wife was a stepgranddaughter, Sheila TUBERTY. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver. Memor-ials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Namona P. Calloway Nov. 21, 1911 – Dec. 31, 2001 Namona P. BURNS CALLOWAY, 90, Macy, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. Born in rural Akron to Oliver and Essie Belle NYE BURNS, she married Glen R. CALLOWAY Feb. 23, 1935 at the Macy Christian Church parsonage. He survives. Mrs. Calloway taught Sunday School at Perrysburg Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Missionary Circle. She was a Farm Bureau Township Women’s Leader, Farm Bureau Woman of the Year, a member of the Miami County Farm Bureau Board, Deedsville Parent Teacher Association, a Union Township 4-H leader, Union Township Trustee and a 1930 Macy High School graduate. Surviving with her husband, at home, are four daughters, Patsy FINCHER and husband Joe, Macy, Joyce CANNON and husband Charles, Avon, Ill., Lela BARNHISEL and husband Richard, Lexington, Ky., Carol CALLOWAY, Macy; one son, Jerry CALLOWAY and wife Phyllis, Macy; 16 grandchildren, Ed, David and Paul FINCHER, Shelli FISHER, John and Jerry CANNON, Karen JOHNSON, Cathy, Jennifer and Michael BARNHISEL, Barbara CAVILL, Elaine DRAG-STREM, Amy ECKROTE, Tim, Rachel and Renell CALLOWAY; 16 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lena KANE, Louisville, Ky., Florence BROWN, Warsaw; one sister-in-law, Mary BURNS, LaPorte; three nieces and four nephews. Preceding in death were one brother, Verl BURNS, and one sister, Treva REEVES. Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Perrysburg Baptist Church with Revs. Steve FLECK, Gene PERSONETTE and Michael BARNHISEL officiating. Burial will be at Plainview Cemetery, Macy. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at McClain Funeral Home, 3500 W. Indiana 16, Denver, and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Chaplain Fund at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. Thursday, January 3, 2002 Wallace “Wally’”Deaton April 18, 1929 – Jan. 3, 2002 Wallace “Wally” DEATON, 72, died at 1:35 a.m. today at his 1231 Franklin Ave. residence. Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services. Dr. David Weitzman Sept. 23, 1947 – Dec. 27, 2001 Dr. David WEITZMAN, 54, died Dec. 27 at his 1513 Madison St. residence. Born in New York City to Abe and Dorothy ROSENSTEIN WEITZMAN, he came to Rochester one and one-half years ago from Delaware. Dr. Weitzman, a clinical psychiatrist, earned his undergraduate degree from Colby College, Bangor, Maine, and his medical degree from Saint George’s School of Medicine, Granada, West Indies. He worked at Four County Counseling Center, Rochester, and was an Indiana Department of Corrections counselor. Survivors include his father, Abe WEITZMAN, San Migel de Allende, Mexico; one brother, Dr. Stephen WEITZMAN and wife Nancy, Stony Brook, N.Y.; friend Susan HOSCH, New York, N.Y. His mother preceded him in death. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of arrangements. Florence M. Whittenberger Florence M. WHITTENBERGER, 93, Whitehall, Mont., formerly of Rochester, died Tuesday at Crest Nursing Home, Butte, Mont. Arrangements are pending at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Roger W. Ring Jan. 17, 1922 – Jan. 2, 2002 Roger W. RING, 79, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at his Claypool residence. Born to Russell and Golda JONES RING, he married Dorothy FORD Dec. 31, 1943. She survives. Mr. Ring was a Kosciusko County farmer and lifetime resident. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Pleasant View Bible Church, Warsaw. Surviving with his wife, at home, are four daughters, Renita Jo CONRAD and husband John, Kokomo, Donna RING, South Bend, Bonnie BURNWORTH and husband Greg, Winona Lake, Diane YEITER and husband Jerry, Warsaw; six grandchildren; one brother, Donald [RING], Claypool; one sister, Wilma BAREHAM, Warsaw. Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Ivan FRENCH officiating. Burial will be at Palestine Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 1126, both of Warsaw. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
